Hey guys - My secondary application was complete on 11/4 but no interview invite in the portal yet. Has anyone else experienced > 1 month turnaround for ii or does this most likely mean that I am not being considered for an interview? It seems as if most applicants have heard back within 2-3 weeks. Thanks for the info!

I waited about 2 months for my II (complete end of August, II end of October). The waiting game is awful. I hope you hear something soon!

Have any of the people placed on pre-interview hold had any luck and gotten an interview yet? I called today and found out. Just wondering if people on hold are getting lucky or not really. :-/ Thanks

Aww man, I'm sorry 🙁 at least it's not a complete rejection. I'm not sure if ppl have luck with pre-interview holds here or not. I have a friend who's a 2nd year here and they had a very late interview sometime in the spring, were placed on the waiting list, and then got an acceptance call like a week before classes and had to scramble to move across the US lol. I'll have to ask whether they were ever placed under pre-interview hold, but I'd say there's a chance judging by the interview date.

I've received silence since submitting my secondary so I could very well be in a similar predicament as you. I'm surprised they told you over the phone. Did the pre-interview hold show up on your portal/email as well?

Yes please do ask if he/she was on pre interview hold, though I doubt it matters since everyone has different stats etc. But I called today and spoke to my specific admissions counselor, I believe if you ask them who yours is they can transfer you to him/her and she told me when I asked about my status. I checked afterwards online but didn't see any change in the portal, not sure if that will come later. But based on research I've done today it seems many hold people have gotten letters in the mail. So depending on your status that could be the case. If you want you could call and probably find out by finding your admissions counselor. Good luck regardless!

So the guy who is a 2nd year here is one our really close family friends. I just asked my mom if she knew, and she's almost positive he was on hold for both an interview and acceptance, so he went from wait list --> interview to wait list --> acceptance. I'll double check though and let you know if that's not the case. Either way, there's still hope and if they weren't interested at all, they would've outright rejected you. I hope you hear some good news soon!

BTW, thank you very much for the info. I had no clue we had an admissions counselor and could talk to them. I think I'm going to call today for peace of mind. The silence is way too overwhelming lol.

Thanks for sharing! Gives some hope. And yes if it's been a while I suggest you call and find out, good to know for future as well in case you have to communicate with them. Good luck !

Has anyone who has been placed on preinterview hold heard back?

So I called this afternoon and spoke with my admissions counselor as you suggested. Sure enough, I was told I'm on hold for an interview. My counselor said something along the lines of, "it looks like your file is still on pre-interview hold." I had no idea I was to begin with since my portal hasn't changed and I haven't received any emails or letters regarding a status update.

From what I've read, it sounds like they've placed a lot of apps in the hold pile with MCAT scores < 30. The counselor told me that they're making interview offers next week and that I could heard back any time between now and March (or April? can't remember) about an interview. For my own sake, I'm not getting my hopes up and counting on hearing anything in the near future.

I think you'll see a lot of movement after December 15th when they don't review some tuition deposits from those already accepted.

Thanks for the update. Yep sounds very similar to what I was told. My counselor seemed very uninterested and gave me the impression that many people are placed on hold. I'm not getting my hopes up either. Your story about your family friend does give me a small ray of hope, but again everyone's stats/application is different. Regardless hope it works out!

Yeah it is somewhat reassuring to know at least one person has gotten off the pre-interview wait list and was ultimately accepted. It's a bit of a round-about way to be accepted, but at least we know it has happened and we're not 100% out of the game yet. Good luck to you and I hope things turn out well for you this cycle!

There are still tons of people like me who are holding acceptances while deciding where to go. Like someone said, people will be deciding up to Dec. 16th so I'm sure there will be more interviews after that.

Did anyone who got put on pre-interview hold get a status update in the mail, or did you all confirm by calling admissions?

Has anyone been rejected or are just placing everyone in the preinterview hold pile?

Anyone have a list of 3rd and 4th year rotation sites? Trying to see if there are any at Ft. Huachuca?

Off the top of my head: Phoenix, Tucson, Modesto/Turlock CA, Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, Kankakee.

4th year is up to you.

Is it standard at most schools for the fourth year to be up to you or is that only specific to AZCOM? Do they care what states you do the fourth year in?

I was always under the impression 4th year, no matter where, is yours to choose geographically. Of all the schools I applied to this was the case.

Just landed in Phoenix for my interview tomorrow. If any other interviewees are around and want to grab dinner or hang out or something drop me a pm!

Has anyone who has been placed on preinterview hold heard back?

When I talked to my admissions counselor about a month ago about my pre-interview hold, she said that applicants on hold will be re-reviewed in mid March following the school's application deadline.

She also said that a meaningful update letter on activities and interest in the school is encouraged but to not submit one until after the new year.

Hopefully they start pulling people off the pre-interview waitlist before March, though I wouldn't expect it based off what my counselor said.

Does anyone have information on what they do for Board Prep? Courses... time off from classes.. etc

I just withdrew my app. My interview day set for 10 December might still be available for anyone interested. Good luck to all of you.

Late notice but I cancelled my interview that was on Dec 6. Hopefully someone can snatch it up and get an early interview

For those of you who have paid your deposit, any idea on when we should start our vaccinations?

Vaccinations or the Titers??

They suggest waiting until financial aid is disbursed and taking advantage of a contract with a local company for a discount. So I'm waiting until I move!

I turned in my secondary Nov 27 and got an interview invite Nov 28th. They are really fast.

For everyone else, what is the best way to get to campus for the interview? I am OOS and do not intend on driving down there from CA. Is it best to rent a car?

Wow that's quick!! I'm willing to bet you got a 30+ MCAT. 🙂

Congrats on the ii! I'm also from CA and just interviewed at AZCOM yesterday. Which hotel are you staying at ? Most nearby hotels provide shuttles to the campus.

For those of you that interviewed, how was your experience?

I had four interviews before my interview at AZCOM and they all seemed to be easier. There were three groups of interviewers at AZCOM and I ended up interviewing with a couple stone faced guys. They weren't mean or anything, but they made it hard to keep things conversational, which in turn made me uncomfortable and a little more difficult to be myself. I loved the school, and it's my top choice which also may have phsyched me out and made the interview a little harder. I would love to go here. I just hope I didn't blow the interview. I have been accepted to the four other schools I interviewed at (CUSOM, CCOM, RVUCOM, and OSU) so I don't consider myself bad at interviews. I did manage to get them to open up a little towards the end, and I had them laughing which is good.

I'm sure people's opinions on the interview vary greatly based on who they interview with. There were others in my group that made it sound like their interviewers were very warm and easy to talk with. All in all, I REALLY hope I get an acceptance here. It's the perfect school for me in so many ways!

Yeah, but only barely.

I actually met somebody who goes there and he's going to let me stay at his place before the interview. I decided to rent a car. It was only $70 total, which probably would've been the same price as staying in a hotel for one night.

How did the interview go for you? What are some things I should look out for?

I'm in the SMP here and they said the same thing to all students. However, if you can get the vaccinations or titers with your own insurance company, that may be best- the vaccination clinics fill up in a matter of minutes. If you can't get into one of those, you have to pay for them yourself, without the discount.

And yet we all still pay for such things with our quarterly student services fee regardless of if we receive anything for said fees, because that's just what Midwestern likes to do.

At least you're already in the med school- we're paying out the nose just for the privilege to get our foot a little further in the door. Hope it's worth it. :xf:

After a lot of deliberation, declining my acceptance. Best of luck to everyone!

Just got my rotation assignment- West Valley, top choice!

I was just placed on a pre-interview hold. Complete 11-7 or 11-8.

anyone who interviewed last week get the acceptance?

I interviewed last week (Wednesday) but haven't heard back from them. I was under the impression it would be a couple weeks before we should expect anything. Did you hear back from them? I'm stressing out because AZCOM is my #1 choice and I'm not too confident with how the interview went. I was accepted at CCOM and a couple other schools, but my wife and I really want to end up in Arizona.

Is it a good idea to send thank you e-mails to the interviewers?

I interviewed at four schools and received four acceptances before interviewing at AZCOM. I didn't send thank you letters to any of them. With that being said, I feel like I should to AZCOM because I'm worried about how my interview went. I wouldn't know who to send the letters to, though. I can't imagine it really making a difference as to whether or not you'd be accepted. I can only imagine them saying, "Well, this kid's stats are only average, and I wasn't too impressed with him during his interview, but hey! He sent us some thoughtful thank you letters. Better give him an acceptance!"

Haha I'm feeling the exact same way. Didn't come out of mine feeling like a represented myself properly, my body language was even off... I remember the names of my interviewers but I suppose there is no way of actually getting their e-mail. I was kind of thinking the same thing, but ya never know.

It's easy to find their emails on the faculty page.

All I see is there name and alma matter. Doesn't appear to list their e-mails on the midwestern faculty page. Am I looking in the wrong place?
