NC State University c/o 2025 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm aware that there are only 20 OOS positions available, but are there only 20 acceptances typically sent out? Or do they usually over-accept to compensate for people denying their acceptance?

They typically over-accept!

For OOS, we typically admit 30-35 and place 50-55 applicants on the waitlist.

Will there be emails sent out to those who don't make it to committee review for IS or will we all get emails at the same time, those accepted and those not?

Resident applicants who don't meet admissions requirements are notified once that determination is made. All resident applicants who do meet admissions requirements move to committee review. Decision letters for that group are sent at the same time.

I have submitted my fall transcript but am worried that I have not received an email about whether it was recieved. NSC sent me an email about it arriving at my institution but nothing from NCSU CVM. While I know it takes a little bit to review, I have this fear that it wasn't received properly and I won't know until after the deadline. I am fine waiting on it to be reviewed, I am just stressed it is not in the right location. I had the transcript sent to [email protected]

NC State has received 1900 applications for this cycle and the Student Services Office is currently focused on processing transcripts (mark received, notify applicant, update course grades and track outstanding prerequisites).

Please note that we will consider any transcript received by or postmarked by February 1, 2021 as having met the deadline.

We appreciate your patience with us at this busy time.

While a specific day of the month of February can not be committed to, are you able to confirm that OOS decisions will either be sent the second or third week of February?

Unfortunately, we can't commit to a specific notification timeline.

I have heard some confusing information for dates of admissions decisions required by all vet schools. Is it true that all decisions must be released by March 1st in order to give students time to decide which vet school to attend by April 15th?

Several schools I applied to said we won't know until Mid March so I don't think that's true

AAVMC schools agree to an April 15 response deadline from applicants. It's up to the individual school to manage its own decision letter release date.

Is NCSU still attempting to release IS decisions by the predetermined date of March 1st? Or are you expecting it to be later than that due to high volume and COVID?

Unfortunately, we can't offer you an estimate other than it won't be March 1. It will be later.

The Student Services Office is working diligently in processing fall 2020 transcripts and the committee is reviewing non-resident applications.

Can you share the specific Admissions Formula the Admissions Committee is using for the 2020-2021 Application Cycle? Meaning the percentages placed on each area such as GPA, experience (animal & veterinary), personal statement, etc.

NC State utilizes a holistic, comparative review process. It doesn't assign percentages to objective or subjective admissions criteria.
