Hey guys. Always apprehensive about making any posts on the internet, but this is a fairly welcoming community, so here goes:
Interviewed 11/10, was very impressed with the campus. Accepted 12/1, OOS, 3.65 sGPA/cGPA (3.95 each over the last 3 years) 509 MCAT.

Interview day was pretty low-stress. Check in from 0830-0900. At 0900 we were split into two groups of 4. My group toured Wilson Hall and heard an admissions/financial aid/student life presentation on the two halves of an hour, then had two 30-minute 1-on-1 interviews with physician faculty members. I definitely got a good draw on my interviewing faculty (one was from my hometown area and the other was a military doctor, which I look to be). Faculty members spent almost ten minutes casually speaking with me, then covered 8 bullet point questions and scored our responses out of 5. I thought the first one went best, but the second guy told me my interview score was a 38/40 so who actually knows. At 1100 we took an hour lunch (food was good!) and were dismissed, with an optional A-State campus tour.

I think the campus is beautiful. Several buildings look new. Brand new graduate housing going in 4-4.5 minute walk from Wilson Hall with 90 units dedicated to the medical school. Mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom units, some furnished some not, all inclusive (internet, cable, etc.) for like $800/person/month-ish is what we were told. This school seems like a great opportunity, and it will be heavily considered moving forward.

Definitely should have taken biochem, psych, and physics BEFORE the MCAT. But hey, something worked.

Wait there is on campus housing 😱😱😱? I spoke with some of the second years and they all said they commute. I guess if it was a new thing then they wouldn't know about it, but that was a big MEH moment for me. I live relatively close to the campus. 10-15min drive without traffic, but if I were to commute on rush hour then it can be anywhere from 45min - 1.5 hours one way. I live in a small apartment with my parents, so living at home for med school will drive me insane.

I think @DoctorPose is referring to the Arkansas campus. I thought the same thing though! I wish Old Westbury had housing :/

Definitely not the Old Westbury campus. The interview was only 1 30-minute interview and there is no Wilson hall in Old Westbury.

For anyone worrying, I interviewed early October and seeing all these acceptances I was worried I was silently waitlisted or possibly even silently rejected. I got an acceptance last week. Super stoked.

Just give it time, you'll make it.

I have an interview on 1/09. Will I be interviewing for a waitlist spot or will there still be spots open in the class?

I know of people who interviewed in March and were accepted in June of the matriculated year. I'm sure if you go in with a good attitude, things will work out in your favor 🙂

Complete early August, IS, 3.42 gpa and a 505 MCAT....still nothing 🙁

Should I just take this as a silent rejection?

For those who have been accepted/rejected/put on hold, how long did you have to wait to hear back after your interview?

Interviewed 11/01 received acceptance 12/02. GPA: 3.8 MCAT: 505

Is anyone else accepted having trouble signing into my.nyit.edu ?

You should send them an update letter if possible. NYITCOM admissions loves to hear from people who have continued interest in their school. I've also heard of people who had their interviews pretty late (Feb/March) and get accepted. You should take an active role rather than just wait around.

complete mid september and still havent heard back 🙁 i sent an update letter about a month ago. not sure if i should send one again in a month or so. thoughts?!

NYIT needs to start sending out acceptances -__- got a couple of deposits due D:

What's the nyit policy on deposits? I read that one school lets you put $500 non-refundable deposit first and then pay $1500 two months later, but the $1500 is refundable up until April.

From what I've read on the website you pay the $1,500 at once and I am not sure if there is a refund on that if you choose not to go, would anyone who's been accepted care to elaborate on that?

Anyone get an invite recently? When did the last batch of II go out?

Wondering the same thing... Been complete since early October and still nothing. Although at this point I'm wondering if it's just silent rejection... haha (OOS, Pennsylvania)

Invite today. Complete sometime in September. OOS but close, TN resident. Hang in there!

Anyone get a call to do a second interview via zoom (skype)?

How late does NYIT interview? April? Does the school have IS preference?

Definitely a huge instate preference as far as i know.

Pretty sure the majority of their class is in state which would lead one to think they have an instate bias
Our sample size is too small to make any judgements!! (Don't get me wrong an instate bias would help me, I am from NY)

I would say IS. I remember the students that gave me the tour were from LI/Queens and that quite a few students still live with their parents.
