Nova Southeastern Univ (NSU-COM) Discussion Thread 2013 - 2014

I signed up for August 27. Rather miss a Tuesday from work than a Thursday.
 
Submitted early, 29 3.85, OOS, they haven't received my LOR's (but I got the call they were about to review my app a while ago). Why didnt I get an II?
 
Does anyone know how many interviews v. acceptances Nova does?
 
I really want to go to this school, and I'm anxiously awaiting if I get an II.

I already have 3 II already, but god dammit I want one from this school!
is it bad that I keep refreshing my inbox every 2 minutes?? 😕
 
Does anyone know how long the interview lasts at Nova? I scheduled mine for 8:30 AM. I have class in the evening an would like to get back in time so I won't have to miss anything...

Idk, but I just called and the lady said some people get notified at different times (meaning weeks and months)

My application was complete and under review as of 6/26. ughh
 
I will be interviewing on the 27th. I booked a room at the Hampton Inn (they have airport shuttle and university shuttle). The university rate is $99. I got a room with 2 beds. If somebody is interested in splitting room send me a private message. I am late 20s male if that matters to you. Let me know, thanks.
 
This is probably a stupid question, but if we are flying out right after the interview, what do we do with our luggage? Do you just bring our bag to the interview?

I know that if you stay at the Hampton Inn they'll hold your luggage for you and then bring it with them on the shuttle when they pick you up from the interview before they take you to the airport. Not sure about other hotels though.
 
Just FYI, Southwest has some good deals going on. My flight and hotel reservation at the Crowne Plaza by the airport came to a total of $372.

I would love to except that the first available date I found was Sept. 10, so I signed up for it.

I believe the interview day starts around 8:30 and ends at 3:00. There should be an optional tour at 2:00 that you don't have to go to if you have a flight to catch. Some people in my interview group had to leave so they didn't do the tour. I highly recommend doing it if you can though! They show you the rest of the campus and it's beautiful 😀 Congrats on all the invites guys!
 
Just to make sure I used the right number, my assigned student ID is the one located on the upper left corner of the pdf secondary application I received few days after submitting an electronic secondary. Right?

When they called me they told me I was complete, but I still can't see they received my letters online. Was anyone able to see if letters were received looking online?

Most hotels will hold your luggage for you behind the front desk. U just go pick it up after your interview. I recommend the Hampton, they have great service, decent price with the nova discount, and shuttle service to/from the interview.

Also many ppl stay at Hampton so you have the opportunity to meet some other interviewees the night before.

How did you send your letters? I sent mine via Interfolio so I have an electronic confirmation.

Yeah this sounds about right. The big campus tour is optional, but I too highly recommend it.

Interviews are a two way street, definitely use your interview day as an evaluator of the school. See how you would fit into the school, and how the school meets your needs. Don't be afraid to ask questions to the student tour guides. Really find our how the day to day is at the school, what the environment is like, how competitive ppl are, where ppl mostly live at, what there is to do to relax, etc..

Obviously you will go the school that accepts you, but if you get into the situation where you have multiple acceptances then you have more knowledge to make an informed decision.

I definitely plan to stay for the tour and will ask plenty of questions. I am excited 🙂 Nova looks beautiful.
 
They need LORs to start reviewing your app?

Yea I sent mine through interfolio so I know they were received but just wondering if anyone could see it through their portal thing from NOVA.

First one. Wow. I was worried bc Nova's secondary was short. Might have to skip a cousin's wedding haha. 😀
 
Anyone know how they do acceptances? Is it anything like LECOM where you can find out a few weeks after or wait for the decision at the end of the year?

Literally in the same boat. Are you waiting to send all your LORs all at once? Or have you sent some LORs and will send your physician LOR once it's ready??

Oh no, I've sent 3 already! Hoping to hear back soon, but I might be landing a prominent internship next week, so if I do, I'll shoot off an email to them.

Hang in there bro. I know how frustrating it's to see everyone being invited to your top choice school while you're anxiously waiting (I've been experiencing this with LECOM, TouroNV and SOMA). Have faith. Your turn will come.
 
Got a call from Nova just now telling me my app is ready for review! So excited!

I was just letting my home phone go to voicemail and 5 rings in the caller ID announces that it was Nova Southeastern University. Literally SPRINTED downstairs and was so out of breath that I could barely talk lol

I haven't used the home phone in like 4 months. 😛
