Alternate. 3.95/28

Oh well.. Already had the acceptance to LECOM

Alternate list as well. Loved the school, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Congrats to everyone who was accepted! I will be ready for ANUSTART during my next interview.

To all the essentially waitlisted people, let's all have a moment for serious lamenting and solidarity?

Holy hell this page just blew up. Really crazy that so many people were put on the alternate list.

Wow, you're an animal. 3 acceptances already? Congrats fellow non-trad.

Does anyone know if NSU often pulls a lot of people from their wait list? Or are we pretty much doomed here

I feel like most of candidates who interviewed this early last year were accepted.

Or when?

Just heard from 2 others that got waitlisted too.. add that to your stats and smoke it!

I am still in shock to tell you the truth. Feels like a very long marathon and I am Just catching my breath! I admit that I killed this interview. They were shocked at my health care system response. 3/3 and I think I am done interviewing unless PCOM GA gets moving!

Wow, I'm really surprised at all of the SDN alternates. You all had me triple checking my email to make sure I wasn't hallucinating the acceptance.

My stats are 3.45 cGPA, 3.7 sGPA, and 32R (11,10,11), out-of-state non-trad. Although, I think we forget sometimes that numbers are just a part of it, not all of it.

My understanding is that there is a lot of waitlist movement from this school due to the fact that a lot of M.D. applicants apply here and end up getting accepted to/attending an M.D. school.

Very nice stats... are you applying MD as well?

Thank you and no, I'm not applying M.D., those stats aren't as nice when you don't count grade replacement ahaha. I had a section of school from a decade ago where I was less...motivated as a student.

Even then, I really feel like a lot of the D.O. schools/faculty/studentbody have a lot going for them that many M.D. schools don't. For me, the distinction between the two doesn't mean much and I really didn't want to do a whole other application process with associated expenses. So all D.O. for me!

Wait listed as well 🙁 sad to hear this. And the number of wait lists is very shocking.

It would be hilarrrrr if all the alternate list people withdrew their applications. Then their admissions department would have an oh **** moment.

I'm interviewing this coming tuesday and I am really worried right now. Everyone that got first round of interviews had some pretty solid stats and despite that still got waitlisted......:S

I think that's true, to an extent. I assumed they played a pretty big role because of how short and casual the interview was. My interviewer explained to me that they are only advocates to the adcom for the applicant, but the decision is ultimately the adcom's. So I assumed the file (stats, primary, secondary) played a larger role.

Best of luck everyone else applying/interviewing here! Don't let this discourage you.

Accepted!!!!!!! Thank you Jesus! Congrats to everyone else who found out today 🙂

Certainly, but there are applicants with better or similar stats to mine that have been waitlisted. There are also the personal statement, ECs, and letters of recommendation to consider. For instance, one of the schools I interviewed at mentioned that if a candidate has an iffy interview but has excellent letters of recommendation, those letters might balance out the interview in the eyes of the admissions committee.

There was a link floating around on SDN a couple of years ago to an official research poll that had a few dozen different admissions committees ranking the various aspects of a candidates file in order of importance both pre and post interview. I remember the MCAT and GPA scores dropped from 1st and 2nd pre-interview down to like 5th and 6th post-interview. In other words, the numbers weigh most heavily in getting you an interview, but less so in the actual acceptance decision.

Good luck to everyone else, and way to go 8/29 group, looks like we got at least a few acceptances!

It's a shame that 15 minutes decided my fate.

Onward to the next interview!

Anyone else from the 9/10 interview group accepted? 🙂
Mayyyyybe this post should wait until Monday when all the neurotic pre-meds have had a chance to calm down...before you ask if anymore than the 4 of you posting have been accepted

EDIT: I'm truly excited for those of you who did get accepted, don't read into my post. I'm trying to inject some humor into an otherwise very stressful and emotional time for the most of us.

Waitlisted as well.

I was destroyed...until I came home and looked at this thread :scared:

I just counted 7 acceptances and 21 WL's. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

after finding out i got waitlisted. i proceeded to go on a rampage in gta 5

I'm wondering if this was a technical error or something. It's is very unprecedented. Last year, of the people who interviewed early everyone was accepted, at least based on SDN.

They must have different criteria this year for judging the candidates. Oh well. Congrats to all the accepted students. And it's onto the next one for all of the others. Jay Z is always relevant.

Could be, but if they're gonna waitlist 70% of what they interview, they will need to go through 1300 interviewees.

Maybe that is why they took back our neck lanyard. They didn't want to buy 1300.

I also interviewed at KCUMB thus far, and they gave us tumbler cups and stress balls to keep!
