any Canadians interviewed here, does Nova still consider Canadians for admissions? I still got no interview invite from this school

Unless they've changed their policy on that, which I don't think they have, Nova does take Canadians for admission. There are several in every class

I submitted all my paperwork and paid the deposit, but no one in admissions has confirmed that my seat is saved. Does anyone else have this issue? It's been almost 2 weeks since I submitted everything. I emailed admissions twice about this already. Should I email admissions again or just leave them alone? I do have confirmation that the deposit payment went through.

Can any current students tell me more about the 3 month clinical rotation in a rural setting? Do we have to move for this or is it somewhat close to the campus
Most people move anyways unless you get a rotation site that's actually next to school or at the school clinic ... south Florida has lots of traffic so it's better to just wake up and drive a couple miles to your rotation site than trying to stay living by school and driving so much everyday ... also our rotation sites vary from west palm beach to Miami that's about a 2-3 hour drive from point to point nova being in the middle so as u can see people do move away we also have come rotation sites in New York and some on the west side of Florida

Nova will pay for your rural rotation housing. It can be a pretty cool experience depending which site you get. The only downfall is if your months are in the middle of prime interview season and audition rotations but we all figured out a way to make it work.

Interviewing here in a few weeks. Anyone got any advice? Also how long do decisions usually take after the interview? Appreciate any and all help!

Email whoever sent you the acceptance paperwork (this is who I contacted). The contact info should be listed on that "NSUCOM Admissions Information" email. I'm not sure if it is the same person for everyone, but I believe her name was Jermila. She quickly verified my deposit was received and my seat was saved.

super easy/laid back as previously stated in this thread. Easier said than done but don't psyche yourself out over it. I practically only got asked two questions and that was how do you deal with stress and tell me about yourself lol

usually takes about 3 weeks to hear back from my understanding

When were you marked complete? Just wondering to see if they check apps at random or by order.

I emailed her a couple weeks ago and have not heard back. Maybe my email was lost in all the clutter. I'll email her again. Thank you!

Hello future Sharks!

I am entering my third year at NSU, please feel free to PM me with questions.

Questions I can't give you a good answer on: If your application will be competitive for NSU, what questions they ask on the interview, when interview invites and/or secondaries will go out
Questions I CAN give you a good answer on: The school itself, the curriculum, the Davie/Fort Lauderdale/South Florida area in general, information about clinical rotations, and why I personally chose to go to Nova
Hi! If you don't mind, I have a few questions:
1. I was wondering what kind of curriculum NSU has. The website is kind of vague. Based on some of your comments, it seems to be lecture-based? 2. Is there anything unique about the curriculum there that sets it apart from other schools?
3. How good are the hospital affiliations and residency matches? Are they primarily based in Florida?

The feeling when: it's exactly 2 weeks after your Nova interview and you get a random call from a 954 area code phone number (Nova's area code) and think it's your acceptance call....and it's Liberty Mutual asking if I wanted condo insurance. I don't even have a condo.

Everyone in my interview group (08/05) got an email for acceptances, snail-mail for waitlist/denial.

Here are the match list for my class and level 3 pass rate....

Good to know, although they did say we could get a phone call on my interview day. An e-mail makes much more sense though!

Don't know from personal experience (alternate group represent :heckyeah:). But accepted from my group got an email with a nice little video recording.

Maybe it will be different later in the interview cycle. We interviewed in august.

It is all lecture-based. In second year you have a clinical problem solving class once a week that's more group-based with a standardized patient encounter and a physician facilitator, but that's the only PBL-style learning we did. All lectures are recorded and put on blackboard, excepting the occasional technical difficulties.

Our 3rd year core sites are mostly at pretty big hospitals with plenty of wards-based experience. They are almost all in Florida. You have the option of entering an out-of-state lottery for sites in Georgia, New York, and Mississippi, but you won't have to leave Florida if you don't want to. Most sites are in Broward or Miami Dade, but there's also Palm Beach county, Pinellas county (Largo), Orlando, Ft. Myers and Naples.

To add to what @Bill Brasky just posted, here is a list of all NSU rotation sites
http://osteopathic.nova.edu/do/clinical_rotation.html
That is a list of all hospitals one might go to, but not core sites. I compiled a list of the actual rotation tracks for the Class of 2018 last winter:
Broward Health - Ft. Lauderdale. This is almost entirely at the massive Broward Health hospital.
Mt. Sinai - North Miami Beach, FL. Only some of your rotations are in the hospital, others may be at clinics in Miami-Dade county.
PBCGME: http://www.pbcgme.com/- Throughout Palm Beach county, mostly West Palm Beach
Palmetto - Miami. Entirely done at Palmetto Hospital.
Larkin - Miami. Pretty sure everything is at Larkin, but it is a very small hospital so sometimes your patient exposure is light.
Kendall Regional - Miami-Dade County. Rotations are at Kendall Regional Hospital, Aventura Hospital, and clinics throughout Miami-Dade.
Memorial - Broward County, mostly Hollywood, FL. Mostly done at Memorial Regional Hospital.
Florida Hospital East - Orlando, FL.
Largo - Largo/Clearwater, FL. Mostly at Largo Community Hospital in Largo, FL. I think you may get sent to Tampa for Peds.
Naples Community Hospital - Naples, FL
Lee Memorial - Ft. Myers, FL. There are actually 4 core hospitals in Fort Myers for this track.
Osteopathic Institute of the South - Georgia, I think it's mostly around Atlanta? EDIT: Also sites in Warner Robbins and Columbus, GA. For this one, you may have to move around the state a bit. This varies from person to person, it depends on how aggressive you are in working with them to set things up. Definitely a track for proactive people only.
Southampton/Good Samaritan - East side of Long Island in New York. You will drive to a few hospitals that are up to an hour a way (like Good Samaritan), and housing is extremely expensive.
Magnolia Regional - Corinth, MS - I know this one is all done at one site
Bethesda Memorial - Boynton Beach, FL

edit 2/24/16: There is another Palm Beach county track, Palm Beach Gardens Hospital. I also forgot Westside Regional/Plantation General Hospital track - I guess you rotate at both, they are both in south Broward county, very close to the school. Plantation General is attempting to relocate to the NSU main campus to become the university's official teaching hospital, so this track might morph into that one day.

Congrats! Would you mind sharing stats?

I was complete in early october and haven't heard a thing... not even a pre-II hold. I'm assuming silent rejection. ::shrug::

502 MCAT (1 attempt), 3.4 sGPA 3.9 gGPA 3.5 cGPA, like 3-4000 hours of scribe and EMT experience

Also: FL Resident idk if they consider that

Thank you so much for your response! I have two follow-up questions: Are classes mandatory? If I wanted to go back to NY (where I'm from), would it be hard to get a residency there if I got to NSU?

Anything is possible given your work ethic, board scores, and the new residency system--in which DO and MD will both vie for the same positions across the U.S.

II today! Scheduled March 2nd. Has anyone ever had any luck getting an interview date sooner?
I think March 2nd is the first day for this batch. About to book it until I figured out my school's spring break is a week after that.

Congrats to all the recent IIs! Just relax, be yourself, and know your application well- especially weaknesses. It goes by quick!

Do people ever get off the pre-II waitlist or is it pretty much an automatic rejection? Just curious when I'll hear from NSU again as its been since early Fall! Not holding my breath for an II but would like some closure!

*decent stats, 3.6c, 3.57s, 506 MCAT, 1000s of hours of healthcare work experience, shadowing, and volunteering
