Really torn as to which to choose.

I feel the pre-clinical curriculums are both very similar and that Grady and Bellevue are quite comparable. Geographical location and weather aside, what distinguishes one from the other?

Interested in pursuing surgical specialty and research.

Any input would be great!

that's a tough choice, both are incredible programs with lots of research opportunities. bellevue's a great hospital, and it's patient population is so diverse, you'll get some amazing cases there. Plus with the flooding, the hospital's going to have tons of upgrades. The Discovery Phase in the third year of Emory's curriculum would be perfect for your research interests, though. And the large influx of patients also means you'd get a lot of hands on experience at Emory, just like at NYU. Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong opting for either program.

Good luck!

Agreed. All in all, the programs are so similar that you might be better served by thinking about things like geographic location and lifestyle, and where you might be happier.

By any chance, do any of your research interests include public/global health, epidemiology, or infectious disease? Emory's proximity to the CDC could be helpful. But honestly, you could do such research successfully at many schools.

Thanks for your input so far! I think these are really good points. Given their similarity, I am looking for an inclusive, small group environment and great class cohesion. Does either shine over the other in this regard?

Any current students at either have any input? Any current applicants in the same position as me? If so, which are you leaning towards and why?

from my visits, it seems like emory is more reflective of what you're looking for, especially since it's not in one of the busiest cities in the world in NYC. Go Emory!
