i think location and housing would be two good factors to consider.. also hospital affiliations. nyu has tisch(private, bellevue (oldest public hospital), and the manhattan VA as well i believe.
mount sina has the hospital on campus and a few affiliated sites some as far as queens and northern manhattan I believe (anyone know more detailed info?)

Both schools are really great. If you're into numbers, NYU is ranked 31 while Mt. Sinai is ranked 22 by US News and World. The area around NYU has great nightlife (lots of clubs, bars, restaurants, a movie theatre, a Borders store), in the "heart" of Manhattan, and has a younger vibe from the community. Mt Sinai is in the Upper East Side close to Harlem, but still a train ride away from the center of the city. How were your finaid packages from both schools? Mt Sinai's tuition is slightly cheaper than NYU. They both have great match lists, so you can't go wrong with either one, but it's a matter of personal preference.

also mount sinai has pretty amazing housing for really cheap with full size beds whereas NYU first year dorms are pretty standard corridr-style housing but the upper class dorms are apparently quite nicer.

i chose NYU over sinai because i think the location is nicer than where sinai is. I also wanted to leave uptown Manhattan for a while and NYU is pretty perfect in that respect.

Congrats! Prestige-wise, I think they're about the same. So I would base your decision on your personal priorities rather than school reputation.

I liked the clinical experience at NYU, and that students rotate through both public and private hospitals...and Bellevue was really cool.

Location-wise, NYU seems like it's in a fun neighborhood. Then again, MSSM is on central park and near museums.

MSSM has the upper hand for housing...their apartments were really nice, while NYU has dorms for at least the first year, and some apartment style for upperclassmen.

It seems like students at both places were happy with the school, the quality of instruction, and overall quality of life. Both match lists were great, and in my opinion, pretty much comparable.

I think it's ultimately how you feel about the school; both are similar in terms of reputation. Congrats on your options. However, I will say that NYU Med is obviously attached to a larger university, which is not the case with MSSM. Some would and have chosen NYU over MSSM because of that reason but not everyone.

Tough choice, but a great one to have.

The schools are very different and your experience over the 4 years will be quite different depending on which school you choose.

If you have any specific questions about MSSM, feel free to PM me.
