All post-match positions will be posted on the Match website at noon on Match Day (1/19/2021). They were exactly on time last year, once you refreshed the page at 12 PM boom they were all there. This is what last year’s looked like. Yes, you can apply to a post-match place that you didn’t originally apply to. The deadline is determined by each program individually I believe, that part I’m not so sure about but I do know the NYU Langone programs had a separate form to fill out for postmatch positions.View attachment 322751

I am assuming post-match positions are filled individually and do not have to be ranked like with match, right?

If you plan on doing post-match, you need to have everything ready the day of match day (and possibly be able to travel to an interview if needed) and there is no way to know what requirements each program would have so I'd pick one with a lot of requirements and make that your minimum. There is a fee to get boards scores, DAT and ADAT scores, so just know that it won't be free (and some programs may also have supplemental fees). It is a massive gamble but maybe this year will have more post-matches so your options may not be as limited

Correct. You apply to them individually and programs accept whomever they want. In theory you could receive multiple acceptances and choose one. It’s more like applying to dental school at that point.

If you plan on doing post-match, you need to have everything ready the day of match day (and possibly be able to travel to an interview if needed) and there is no way to know what requirements each program would have so I'd pick one with a lot of requirements and make that your minimum. There is a fee to get boards scores, DAT and ADAT scores, so just know that it won't be free (and some programs may also have supplemental fees). It is a massive gamble but maybe this year will have more post-matches so your options may not be as limited

I don't think so but you can add the name of the program you'd like to apply to (and any additional documents, like the personal statement) then download that application as a PDF and send to the program on match day. You can do this even if it's past the program's listed deadline. I'd still check with the program first (or maybe even PASS if they have a way to do it on their end) to see if that's how they'd like to see your post-match application, because the downloaded one will not have your letters of recommendation on there.

I work 8am-5pm, and they released the questions on a Monday morning and gave about 24 hours to answer back like 12 open-ended questions. I stayed up late to finish it! I'm clearly salty here, haha.

As a fellow salty applicant who didn't make it to round 2, I must say that I wish they hadn't raised our hopes for nothing. I stayed up until 3 am to finish those questions too. I don't see any advantage in what they did tho, not for them, (that meant more work reading through multiple essays), and certainly not for the applicants.

Anyone who got Uni Maryland Peds Interview do you mind sharing your stats?

It might be hard to compare stats because I felt like mine were nothing spectacular (and was fairly shocked when I got my 2 invites lol). I'll share mine to give an idea why stats may not be too helpful

Ok-to-good stuff in my application:

(1) GPA: 3.2 (GPA by year was 2.9 --> 3.0 --> 3.3 ---> 3.5)
(2) Class rank: Middle 50% (never checked, so I'm not sure, but I know I was between the 40th - 60th percentile based on an old institutional eval I saw)
(3) Did a peds-heavy GPR
(4) Worked 1 year with adults, 1 year in school-based mobile dentistry, 18 months (ongoing) at a non-profit for children in foster care & w/ disabilities
(5) Did a mobile dental van elective during D4 to go to schools and provide simple dental care

Drawbacks to my application:

(1) I failed 3 classes during D3
(2) I got 2 letters of rec from pediatricians, 1 from a D-school faculty and 1 from our supervising dentist (neither of the last 2 are pediatric dentists)
(3) Application was pretty late - everything was complete the last week of September
(4) No research / volunteer experience

(4) Worked 1 year with adults, 1 year in school-based mobile dentistry, 18 months (ongoing) at a non-profit for children in foster care & w/ disabilities
(5) Did a mobile dental van elective during D4 to go to schools and provide simple dental care

Drawbacks to my application:

(1) I failed 3 classes during D3
(2) I got 2 letters of rec from pediatricians, 1 from a D-school faculty and 1 from our supervising dentist (neither of the last 2 are pediatric dentists)
(3) Application was pretty late - everything was complete the last week of September
(4) No research / volunteer experience

I currently have invites from St. Barnabas and BronxCare. (I’m a US citizen btw)
