Nope. But I've had employer health working with a hospital for so long I'll probably do student health where ever I go until I need a specialist.

Easier that way, don't need an appointment, good for run of the mill needs.

Will need to find a dentist though. Good reminder.

I found an Obgyn. I'll have to see if they are taking new patients though. I also found a couple of dentists that I would go to. I haven't found a primary care doctor yet.
 
On the subject of finding a new PCP...any non-trads here know if we can get health insurance through our school? Or do we need to get insurance through ACA? I'm quitting my job before matriculation and thus will lose my health insurance. I am not covered under anyone else's plan (ie. no spouse and over the age limit to be on my parent's plan)

This might be different from school to school but mine does offer health insurance that I'm planning on using. You might be able to find out on your school's website.

All the schools I interviewed at offered insurance that you had to pay for.

Call the school for info. We can only tell u so much
 
Where do we complete health requirements? I am completely behind on all this. FAFSA and certiphi are all I've done lol. Also, taxes but that was easy and I got a nice chunk of money back.

All schools offer plans, some are really expensive and you might be better off buying one on the exchange. Loans will cover your plan or atleast earmark some money towards it.

Your school should have info on what you need to do. Not all schools have sent out their health requirements and if you're only on waitlists, they might not send it out yet.

Anyone know if the maximum amount of Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford loans for medical students are still limited to $40,500 annually? Reference: https://www.aamc.org/advocacy/meded/7923

I ask because I got a financial aid estimate today from a school with a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan estimate greater than $40,500 for the 2017-18 academic year.

Raising the limit has has been in the process of legislative approval for a while now but didn't realize it went through. Seems like it did.

Damn it ... my tax refund got cut in half because I owe money due to taking tax credits for the ACA ....

I was unemployed for the month of January, started my job in February, marketplace insurance didn't get cancelled for another month, and the tax return is using my full year AGI as the income for the tax credit ...

eff me ........

Just looked and holy **** it's expensive at my school. Are students able to request financial aid to pay for health insurance? I'm not going to just have $250 lying around each month and it's not included in my school's COA It's not included in my school's COA

Yeah I just looked and the plans for my school are quite expensive 🙁

I would call the Financial aid people. It was included in the COA for all the schools I was accepted to. Most schools actually require you to have insurance.

The thought of memorizing all the origin and insertions for every single muscle sounds agonizing. Why am I excited for med school again?

This also scares me. Not sure if I am even capable of memorizing all that detail. I am a big picture kind of person.

This actually depends on your school - not every school requires you to have them memorized. And Netter's flashcards are great for those, if you need to memorize them.

I'm hoping mine is one of the schools that doesn't haha. We had to know them in undergrad so I was just assuming we'd need them for med school.

May be wrong but it seems to be more common with schools using the traditional curriculum in my experience. On the bright side, step doesn't have that much anatomy I've been told
 
I'm currently at work in the ER and the doctor I'm working with has been here for 2 hours and we've seen 2 patients. Emergency Medicine is currently at the top of my residency choice list.
