Last year, however, things got a bit tight -- they didn't get nearly as many turn-downs as they were expecting, and they were almost overbooked. So this year they must be offering fewer acceptances off the bat in order to avoid the same problem. This means, of course, that more people will get pulled off the waitlist than usual.•••••Hehe - I'm logged to your account now, omores... Thanks again.
They are offering 200 acceptances. I heard that about five times yesterday, from everyone from the Dean of Admissions on down. First round - March 8th. Second round, March 15th. They will TRY to call. If not, they'll go out by mail (not sure whether it's priority or not), and it will be up on the website about five days later. They don't want people to find out first on the website.
Things were interesting yesterday... I had the strange interviewer. Thanks to help from a certain person on SDN (thanks - you know who you are! ), I was ready for most of the questions. But then he started to go off on a wierd geography tangent, and I proceeded to get five answers in a row wrong (capital of Australia (Canbera! Who knew??), current president of South Africa, etc...). And, then, after my five wrong answers in a row, he abruptly ended the interview! We were only fifteen minutes in, out of a total half hour. I decided I couldn't let things end this early, so I rambled on for five minutes about how I loved Duke, etc, etc, etc... Anyway, after that, I just sorta limped out of the office... I figure ending the interview halfway through after five wrong answers in a row probably isn't a good sign...
The good thing is that I did pretty well on the first part, so maybe this was some wierd psychological test. Who knows?
Anyway, we only have to wait a week. I'm loving the place down here! Omores has been great (and patient with me)! I'm somewhat convinced she's a genius, so I'm proud to be a fellow Canadian.
The school is amazing, and I've wandered around campus for the past five hours with a fellow interviewer. I really like the city.
Just one more anxious week... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
