OK, I just got the letter, its offical, so I'm pumped. It was dated March 8. I probably got it so early because I'm only 15 minutes away.

Out of curiosity, is the letter priority or just first-class?

I didn't get a letter or a phone call.
:(

(But then again I may still have a good chance...)

Hi Everyone,

I saw this posted on Interview Feedback by "admissions personnel or faculty" at Duke.

•••quote:•••For those students who have were interviewed by February 25th, letters with admissions decisions (accept, alternate, rejection) have been mailed on March 8th and and another batch will be mailed on March 15th. Thanks, EC. That looks reasonably official, although you never can tell with anonymous web sites...

Anyway, if it's true, that means I'll be in the batch they're going over this week. Ugh. Another week of waiting...

Calm down. This thread is not just for posting exact details about when phone calls were made, what the first letter of your last name is, etc. If you're not interested in a particular post (such as the exchange between myself and dukee) then don't read it.

Good luck, too!

Well lets hope we all got in.....

I've gotten in everywhere I interviewed so far... but this one is several leagues tougher than the next one down.... hehe cross your fingers for me. :) (I'll do the same for you.)

I haven't even done my interview yet! I'm talking with an alumna tomorrow, Sunday, in my area.

BUMP for all the people finding out tommorrow.

What was the letter like? Did it come in one of those big 8 1/2 by 11 inch envelopes, or was it just in a regular-sized one? (just wondering if I should be instantly disappointed if I receive a small envelope) Thanks! :)

Its one of those big 8 1/2 by 11 things

Hopefully a bunch of us will be getting those today......

The suspense is driving me crazy!!! Ahhhh!

No kidding hehehe.

I am in Baltimore, so I am hoping that it will arrive today.....

Does anyone know if they are still making phone calls or if they gave up on that all together?
I've been waiting to hear from Duke and UPENN for so long- I am completely on edge!

Gainer: Here's to hearing in Baltimore!

Dr.G: Tell me about it. You may have noticed that I've been posting on the Duke, Yale, and Penn threads. Triple trouble. :)

I, too, am one of those 'triple trouble' people. The suspense this week is driving me absolutely insane (like I need to tell you guys!).

heheh
At least I don't need to worry about Yale and UPenn (nothing from them since secondaries).
Who knew rejection could be healthy?

I don't think we know that they are still calling for sure. I suspect that they are.

Omores (1st year med student at Duke) seemed to indicate on Friday that they stopped calling relatively early because the person doing the calling had to leave. That would seem to indicate that they will be calling the rest of those 138 people today. However, there were people that claimed they got phone calls (Original, for one) after 1 PM, so maybe they were calling all afternoon on Friday, which might mean they don't have a lot of calls left to make today... :(

From interviewfeedback.com, supposedly, people who interviewed after February 25th (ie - me!) will be discussed this week at committee.

So, good luck to all of us! :)

FYI EVERYBODY...

I interviewed in early feb (1st week) and appearantly NO decision has been made on my app.

This was during a call I placed two minutes ago to admissions--the woman said that I was in the 'late pool' and as such, the decision wouldn't be definitively made until the end of the week. This would, obviously, seem to cast doubt on the Feb 24th thing...

Does anybody feel like we are all WAY over analyzing all of this ?!?!

You think they would leave a message on an answering machine that says both my and my roommate's name?

ARGH.... Feb 20th here.....

now does this mean that they decided on NOBODY in Feb yet, or just not on some?
(How come this keeps getting more conveluted.... I kinda liked the "we will call everybody on March 15th" thing hehehe

i interviewed on feb 12...this wait is no fun. i am trying to make plans for next year. i need to know where i'm going. i'm having a bad morning so far. i have managed to kill my email account. i hope nothing important is coming through the email.

Hmm. Ya, the February 25th thing never made a lot of sense. I mean, that was like four days before they stopped interviewing. If you're going to go as far as four days from the end, why not just finish it off?

OK, I guess we'll just have to wait until Friday then...

Well, guess I have slightly bad news then.
I called them up and ask about if there was a decision on my application. As I said before I interviewed on Feb 20th, and first asked about that date. She said that she'd have to check my name. (There was no decision in my file.) BUT the point of me writting this is it makes me wonder if they just haven't looked at them, or if those of us who have no decision were passed over for acceptance once, and we just aren't going to be rejected/waitlisted until next Friday.

Well, tell me what ya think guys. (I am trying to be optimistic about this, but if others from Feb 20th may have a decision, then it seems negative to me.....)

No final decision has been made on my application, either. Interviewed last week in Jan.

Oh no! :(

Also, they ARE still making calls. The woman (sounds kinda young) I spoke to put me on hold to check.

:( :( :( :(
This is one of those things I DON'T wanna be correct about... but Jan 29th seems too early to be in the late pool, and we did hear Feb 25th before......

I guess we have to wait for a Feb interviewer to post they got accepted to know for sure.
:( :( :(

Yep,

I interviewed end of Jan, like 29th or something. But I kinda have to move on to thinking about other stuff though I have 2 interviews at the end of this week.

The optimistic side is that we were told that only over 100 accepts were going out. So maybe they split the months of the interviewing season into 2 groups. I have no idea. I do know that no decision has been made on my file. If that post is correct (admissions person) then acceptances, rejections and waitlists went out last Friday as well.

I can't overthink this anymore...
Back to work... Good luck guys!

I interviewed March 1st. For now, I'm going to choose to believe that they have yet to look at my application, not that they have rejected me. :)

Self-delusion is something I am very good at. :)

Yeah, but you are also AFTER that Feb 25th break.

I think I will admit rejection to myself a little bit at a time.... easier to handle that way (I REALLY thought I did well).

i just got the big envelope in the mail today from the march 8 decision :D i'm so excited cause i really did love duke. fyi, i interviewed on january 25 (i think) and i didn't get a phone call.

Well, I guess that means for those that didn't get called on Friday that there is still hope.

No decision has been made on my app either. I interviewed in mid-December, so it's not looking good since someone just got in from late January. Maybe there's hope for a waitlist...if they had made a rejection decision do you think they'd tell us?

Does anyone know if regionals are going to be in the March 15th batch? I interviewed in December with a regional representative.

Hi moo,

I had a regional interview at the end of November, and I found out that I got in.

Why can't they just tell us we were rejected instead of "no decision"? I don't like hearing that the prospects are very grim, yet feeling like I have some kind of hope......
Well hopefully a few of us with no decision will get in, but it sure looks like we were rejected seeing as there have been no confirmed rejection letters....

Hi,
I decided to call and ask them if a decision had been made on my file since I heard you guys were doing it- the girl put me on hold and then the Dean came on and told me I GOT IN!
Duke is my #1 choice so I'm pretty excited. He said they only called a few people on Friday and they are still calling people. Oh- and I live in NJ and my letter did not come yet.
Good Luck Everyone! :D :D :D :D

Dr. G, when you interview?

NEVERMIND (It says December 11th about 13 pages back)

This is the 2nd time I've heard "decision not made" (interviewed early jan). Last time, I got a rejection letter on the same day as I called.

I think it was December 11th.

No decision for me either. The lady on the phone said all decisions would be mailed by this Friday, though. Urk, I hate waiting... And Gainer, I really hope you're reading too much into this "no decision" thing...

"No decision". I don't think we're reading too much into it. I think the future looks grim for those of us that were early interviewers (Jan or earlier) and have no decision. I wish I could believe otherwise, but it looks as though we are just waiting to receive our thin envelopes of waitlist or rejection. Oh well, there are worse things in life...

Just called, no decision for me. The woman sounds tired from everyone calling it seems. Anyway, I still don't know when the cutoff day is for the first batch of letters. I interviewed 2/22 by the way.
