Basically you come in, check in, and then head into a lounge style room. Someone from admissions talks to you a bit and gives you a schedule. Then the actual interview itself started, with two people being interviewed at the same time in separate rooms. If you were towards the end of the list, you went off on a tour of the preclinical side of campus. If you were towards the beginning, you waited until your turn and chatted with current students. Once everyone has finished, there's lunch and presentations from financial aid. After lunch, you head across the street to the clinical side of campus and met with the dean or one of the assistant dean. Then there was a tour of the clinical side and the actual dental clinic. You were then bussed back to that original lounge style room, filled out a survey, and were done. ***

*** I am not involved with the process this year, so this may be not 100% what happens this year. I don't know if any changes are being made.

It was you, two faculty members, and a current student.
Did you interview early or late last year? I saw on the earlier post someone posted they interview early last year and was told by admission they was basically in because they got an early interview. How true is that?

I interviewed in mid December. It seems like a good mix of students in my class were from pre-dec and post-dec. Last year they interviewed 600 people for 140 spots. If you have an interview, I would say that your chances are pretty good. We were told that our class is very outgoing, especially compared to previous years. It seems that along with the higher GPA requirements this year, that they are interested in people with good personalities.

Does MWU send an "app complete" email or "under review" email after you submit your secondary?

@mamba24 This was the email that I received after I submitted my secondary. I don't remember when I submitted my secondary but, I don't think it took more than a couple of weeks until I got this email.

Thank you! Just got that email this morning.

I was invited to the interview, but I am canceling it as I was admitted to other school from previous cycle. My date was 10/20 so hopefully someone wanted a pre-dec interview here can get the spot. Good luck!

Congrats on getting in!
I just got my email to sign up for a date. They only gave me January 9 or 10. :owle: I'm grateful but I wish it's an earlier date. :3 Has anybody succeeded in stalking the portal page for a new date? It's probably a bad idea to call them if you just think the date is too late eh?

Stats?

I read on this thread that all pre-dec interview slots are basically full! ....good luck on your interviews!

Good luck to everyone! If you interview on a Monday or Friday, wave hello at me when you tour the sim clinic 😉

Does pre-interview reject happens before submitting a supplemental?

Did anyone else have a tough time with supplemental essay formatting for the last question?

For example, I tried to put:

"Schools:
AA
BB

Dental Experience:
CC
DD"

But then it shows like "Schools: AA BB Dental Experience: CC DD" on the preview page.

I had the same issue so I played around with semicolons and commas to make it easier to read

How long does the interview go until? One email said 2:30 and then another one that I just got said 4:30. I'm just worried because I booked my flights according to the 2:30pm one

Wow, I e-submitted AADSAS on 9/1 and the MWU secondary on 9/3 and was offered an interview today, 9/8. I was not expecting to get an interview offer with any schools (my first interview invite) that quickly, especially when applying not very early. I haven't scheduled the interview yet, but it looks like I can schedule on for 1/23/17.

Nice, congrats on getting an interview! I just got put on the wait-list to interview. Dunno what this means in terms of how much longer I will have to wait for them to decide if they want me or not. Either way, so jelly. Losing hope. LOL

Rejected.

I just want to say Congratulations to everyone that received interviews thus far, and best of luck to all who are still waiting. Everyone that has recieved an interview obviously did a great job with their application, studies, and services which surpassed what I had to offer. Blessings to everyone this application cycle, I wish you all the best and hopes for admission.

"Dear X,

We recently reviewed your completed application to Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine. It is obvious that you put a great deal of time and effort into completing your file. While your application has its strengths, the applicant pool is so strong that we are unable to offer you an interview.

We do appreciate your interest in the College of Dental Medicine. We wish you well in your quest for further medical education.

Sincerely,

James M. Walter, MPA
Director of Admissions"

Thank you! Don't lose hope, you still have a chance! Maybe you can write them a letter or something basically saying you would really love to go there blah blah. I have heard some people say that may help.

I just got one today and the dates were all in january 🙁

Yeah, all dates are in January and they seem to be going quick. I saw Jan. 23 last night and didn't schedule, now I was offered the 24th and 25th. I just scheduled for the 24th to ensure I didn't lose the opportunity.

Sorry to hear that. Best of luck and hope you get some interviews from the other schools that you have applied to.

Anyone know if AZ offers scholarships? The cost of attendance is high

Does anyone know whether or not MWU-AZ has any specialty programs? If so, does this hinder current students' exposure to said specialties during the clinical years?

No speciality programs.

What's nice about that is that the more complex stuff doesn't get referred to someone else and you get to do it if you want to!

Anyone use Uber/Lyft to get from the airport and around Glendale and find it pretty reliable?

I've never used it around that area, but I imagine it would be just as reliable as using Uber/Lyft anywhere else in the US.

In case anyone is interested. Originally had an interview for January 9th. Checked 5 mins ago and was able to reschedule late November. Keep checking!
