I got waitlisted today. Not to sad, but a little bitter.
 
Hey guys,

I GOT IN !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 🙂 😛 :clap:

I cannot describe how happy I am. This was my number one choice and I thought I had absolutely no chance. I have no voice; I have been screaming all day long. Well good luck to everyone else, and I hope to meet my new classmates in May.

akiks, I hear ya. I have a stack of waitlists, 0 rejections and 0 acceptances. This is torture.

But anyway, I'm losing hope with Yale. I have no idea where I stand on the waitlist. I'll call, but if I hear, "Second Tier," I will be terribly upset. Yale was far and away my top choice, and I even sent them a letter of intent! Now I can't send one to any other school! Bah!
 
My last plea... Can anyone accepted or waitlisted please post or PM me their stats? It will help me alot. Thanks. 😀

Snudge, I got waitlisted at Yale and my stats are:

3.97 gpa (mid-tier undergrad)
37 MCAT (11v 13b 13p)

Strong research, moderate amounts of community service and clinical experience.
 
Waitlist for scooby...ah well...Doesn't sound too optimistic (as SWO's letter was).

Waitlisted at Yale. The details:

GPA: 3.94 (competitive undergrad)
MCAT: 30S (11-8-11-S)

One year of research + senior thesis research; LOTS of extracurrics, community service, leadership, volunteering.

MorningLight, are you definitely going to Columbia? I know you were very interested in both Yale and Columbia.
 
Waitlisted... drats. And nothing about being at the top either. Has anyone called today to see if they will tell you where you are? I feel like a stalker calling today. Im going to try and hold off until next week.

Yep, I'm headed for Columbia, so I'll be withdrawing from Yale's waitlist. 🙂 I prefer Columbia, so there's really no point in hanging around and waiting for Yale to finally give me the axe.

Did you finally find out about Yale? Where do you think you'll be next year?
 
I went home for the weekend and my rejection letter followed me there. 🙁 Oh well, Congrats to those accepted and best of luck to those waiting to get in.
 
So SWO's letter saying he is in the top tier of the wait lists makes it sound like they have already made out the tiers of the waitlists. so is it too early to call and see where we are on the waitlist? I don't know if I want to know... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
 
it's too early to call. I just called and they told me they won't know until all the response forms come back.
 
Actually, the lady working there told me they might not have anything ranked for two months!!! I suspect that's just a technique to reduce the volume of calls two weeks from now. If I find out I'm on the bottom tier waitlist, I'll withdraw...there's really no hope then. Why don't they just reject the bottom tier?
 
Yea...when I called she said 2 months too! That's so ridiculous! She said if you call back in 2 months and we still don't have an idea of where you are on the waitlist, you can talk to the director to get a better idea for your chances....umm yea....no thanks...no more interviews for me 🙂
 
This is ridiculous. All the other schools I've been waitlisted at have their act together and already have tiers set. Yale's telling me they can't get it done in two months?
 
so locita, does this mean pitt? will i see you at the pitt 2nd look in may?
 
Hmmm...I know a bunch of people who got rejected from Yale, so we're not in that bad shape.

Locita, do you think the people who were high on the waitlist were already notified, and we're all just stuck in the middle or bottom? SWO got his "high waitlist" letter, and now I'm beginning to get a little antsy.
 
I agree with Lilycat. People received acceptance letters this week. They have until May 15 to respond. They can only offer those positions after everyone reponds. From what I hear about 100 people were accepted. I am sure some will differ and some will opt for other schools. Don't despair, if you are in the waitlist and you are determined to go there, your chances are good.

We used to go to Acapulco alot, so I'm well familiar with the relaxation factor - really happy to hear it worked on ya. As for me, no, no more school - but I do think "accidentally" drinking Everclear on Bourbon Street after my Tulane interview counted as something of a spring break...
 
I called today and spoke with Veronica. She told me the waitlist would be put together by late April. She said she had been telling people two months but it won't take that long.

omigod what they're calling people!?!?! so you're saying I should leave my lab right now and camp out by the phone? Uggh what if I don't get the call does that mean it's all over😱
 
Come on people... don't let this guy fool you. I just called the admissions office and they haven't even finished making all of their decisions... and they're not calling anyone.

Maybe the director decided to call one of the MD/PhD applicants or maybe it was his nephew getting accepted... but by and large... they are NOT making phone calls to notify people of acceptance.

Who did you talk to? I called this morning to ask about the phone calls because my brother got one and I didn't (we live in the same apartment). He interviewed earlier however. Early interviewers are getting calls. Some decisions were already made.

If I do get a call, I expect one before the 27th.
 
I don't know who I talked to. It sounded like an older woman... she was pretty sure people weren't being called.
