Oregon State c/o 2024

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was also wondering about health services. At my current university I’m on student insurance but I can’t really seem to find a lot of info for OSU’s student health insurance/pricing? Is it just covered in the health fee? I have to get labs done every 2-3 months so that’s going to get expensive if it’s not covered.
OSU does provide insurance but I’ve heard it’s not the best and pretty spendy. I don’t have first hand experience with it as I still get a little over a year to mooch off my parents. However, after that time I plan to go on OHP. It’s cheaper and better coverage. Most of my friends who don’t have insurance opt for this instead of Osu’s policy.

Only Oregon residents can apply for OHP though. OOS students can only go with OSU's policy if they have no other insurance coverage.

For the 2019-2020 school year, OSU health insurance policy costs $903 per quarter. Subscribing to coverage for spring quarter will include summer.

That is incorrect. I have several OOS friends on OHP. They require you to be a resident of Oregon, which is not defined the same way as it is for educational purposes. A resident of Oregon is simply defined as someone who lives in Oregon.

Really??? Oh, I wish I knew about this earlier 🙁

Accepted my spot yesterday since it seems there’s no way I get off UC Davis’ waitlist this year (anyways the cost is about the same for OOS at OSU). Excited to meet you guys in Fall.
Were you on the OOS waitlist for OSU? Wondering if there is going to be any movement.

just wondering, but what number were you on the waitlist? just asking because there seems to still be no movement at all and wondering if they just never updated haha

26 they sent an email that said that out of 160 offers for 150 seats they only got 8 or 9 declines which they said is very unusual given they usually move 30 or so people off their waitlist. So guessing no movement.

Doesn't look very promising. This was my last hope. 😢

The dean sent out an email to the school. They have 72 seats in the class of 2024, 70 of which are filled. They've made an offer to two additional people and are waiting for their responses, so there might still be some hope for those on the wait list.

Was that for IS or OOS?

What’s the dress code for vet students at OSU?
Anything is fine. There's more of a dress code for fourth year rotations, but you can wear whatever you want to class. It's very informal. Besides that, you need certain coveralls for a few labs you'll do first year.

Has anyone received information regarding deposits?
I haven’t. I almost emailed Tess about this before the April 15 deadline as the radio silence had me paranoid that I missed something and might lose my seat 😕 I literally drafted an email and then got her email about orientation dates haha. I decided to wait it out as I’m sure they’re still super busy dealing with all of the changes due to coronavirus.

I had to pay to fill out a small application to get my student ID and whatnot when I accepted my spot... while not a deposit exactly I think that was similar?

I don't think I had to pay a deposit for OSU... I'm pretty sure it was just a $45 or $50 fee that mammalade mentioned.

When did you get the email?

I got that email on April 6th, but it if you search your inbox it wasn’t sent from Tess’s email (it was a donotreply)
I got it April 6th too. The email address was a donotreply but the message was still signed by Tess which is why I said it was from her, sorry for any confusion I may have caused with my wording!

No need to apologize. Thanks for the information. I got my email yesterday. 🙂
