Philadelphia COM - Philadelphia (PCOM) Discussion Thread 2013 - 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
~3.1 GPA, 32 MCAT, DO letter, 4 years of direct patient care experience, really hoping for an ii soon!

You could be offered an ii up through May (even June if people drop their seat last minute). To answer your question, that means ~7 months of ii left. Id say youre fine

PCOM only interviews into March. They apparently put enough on the hold list to draw from there. So still enough time to interview but certainly not through May.

Got an acceptance letter today! MCAT 27, GPA 3.5, current IL resident with a year living in Philly. Also I had a PCOM alum rec and 1 year of scribing.

Getting outright accepted surprised me considering my recent DMU rejection and no response from CCOM. Still, I'm very happy to going here.

Thank you people of SDN!

Well, I haven't heard anything yet. Complete in August. Am I screwed?

3.68, 3.51, 29

Congrats dude! I'll see you next fall!

Congrats to all accepted! Just got my letter yesterday. 🙂

I just got in!!!! Woo! I'm so excited now I'm in a beautiful pickle. I don't know which to choose between this and Lecom. Aghh

I know several people who were interviewed in April, and a few who were interviewed in June. For June, PCOM had informed them in the spring that they wanted to see their finale grades in their program.. Seeing as how official grades for most schools/programs are posted some time in May or June, it is not unreasonable to be in that timeline and get a late june interview. I know two students this happened to.

Point is its still not even November. My buddy who got 4 MD accepts didnt gave a single ii until December. Chill guys its early

Anyone know when the admissions committee meets next?

What is the age breakdown for PCOM? Would you say most students are in their early to mid 20s or is it a little more spread out?

I spoke to an admissions counselor & interviews will only go into March. If they decide to ask for grades they will put us on hold and then wait for the grades to come in before rendering a final decision. But they do not interview in June.

Average age is 24 I believe. On the tour the students said the ratio is about half nontrad half trad students.

has the facebook page for class of 2018 been created yet?

Congrats! I dont want to sway you one way or the other, because this is a hugely personal process, but if it were me id go PCOM 100%

So I submitted my app in August and it took AACOMAS FOREVER to verify me (like 6.5 weeks!), so I didn't get to submit my secondary app until late September or early October. Anyway, I received an email from PCOM saying I was complete on 10/23, and have heard nothing since. This is the only DO school I was able to completely apply to w/o a DO recommendation, but all of my LOR's were very good. I'm a URM with a 3.97 cGPA and 3.95 sGPA, bilingual, good EC's, and a 27 MCAT (my only downfall). PCOM is also technically my state school through the DIMER program for Delaware. Hoping I hear back something soon!

I was wondering for those that got an acceptance Oct 23rd when was your interview date. I just interviewed yesterday and am trying to figure out when the ADCOM meets next, and how long it took for your responses

Has anybody whose been accepted yet had their check for 250 cashed yet?

I interviewed here yesterday afternoon. My interviewers were Ms. Shotwell, Dr. Mcleod, and Dr. _____?

I think it was Dr. Motel, but I can't find that name in the directory. Can anyone help me out?

how many rounds of interviews have they done so far? i've been complete since early september. i'm nervous now. for a while i thought that the school was slow in its admissions process since there is low activity in this thread.

at pcom, do you have two interviews or three interviews? if it it's open file, can the interview become stressful?

did you have three separate interviews? i googled and it says dr. marta motel

Does anyone know how receptive PCOM is to update letters? I've been complete since mid-September and wanted to add a few things to my file.

Also, from what I understand, they focus on their region (as does the GA campus). Being from the Southeast, is it unreasonable to expect/want an interview here, or should I just be more patient? I can't help but be a little antsy now that a few months of interviews have passed already.

I actually sent an update letter close to around 2 weeks ago but I haven't heard anything

haha i'm in the same "pickle" (but not really, since it's a pretty easy decision for me!)

does anyone know if they send out ii's in roughly the order that applications were complete? my app was complete 10/7...it took them forever to get my august 28 mcat scores. i know it's still early in the cycle, but the silence is killing me. 34 mcat/3.6 gpa, but oos. hoping for some ii love soon

I worked with Dr. Motel for 2 months last year. She's a great physician and good teacher. Her first name is Marta and she works at the PCOM Lancaster Avenue HCC. She's got short hair, spiky hair and wears glasses.

Complete mid-August, 3.5/3.4/35, no II 😕

I completed back in August but still have not heard back. 26, MD resident, 3.55 GPA.

Just a heads up to everyone waiting, I was completed in August and didn't get an invite until late March after I completely forgot about it.

march?? that is so late! 🙁 pcom needs to step it up

Is there anyone who didn't get accepted post interview??

Did anyone else interview on 11/4 and remember the name of the physician who interviewed with Mr. Kevin Zajac? He was a professor of OMM and I believe his name was Dr. Allison but can anyone confirm this?

Received an interview invite today at 10:39am scheduled for Monday, December 2nd at 12:00pm.

Is there anyone who didn't get accepted post interview??

I'm hoping I don't end up being one of them! 🙂
