Someone brought up checking out you and teep in PM with me yesterday, but my concern is that if either of you were resurrected without an ability this time or with the same role name then it wouldn't give me a whole lot of information to go off of in terms of sorting out affiliation (you could be a vanillager or a vanilla wolf, assuming the wolf pack kill isn't reported as an ability. I'm not sure because I have yet to investigate someone that was a confirmed wolf).

I have already looked into AM and the role ability I got sounded relatively village. I could look into Mel but I suspect his role ability may come back similar to someone else I looked into this game. I could do a role name on him and see if that's informative.

I could do Dubz. Maybe a role name instead of role ability would be more useful since we have something of an idea of role ability from the snowy lynch. I could still look into ability and see if the lynch avoidances are still intact.

All good points, the issue with a convert kind of exists for anyone.

Did you look at LIS at all as for ability? I have reason to believe his original roll claim was truthful. So, if you have, that will happen to balance against the converts, well at least for me, I dunno how teep came back.

Yeah, I'm not about to do that. Mostly because I still don't know what is too risky to reveal on thread in these games.

At this point it has already been revealed that Mel has multiple, overpowered abilities on the thread. You think a character name is detrimental? That's how I find wolves. When they are all fine revealing their abilities and seeming over helpful but "oh hell naw, can't tell you my character, it'll ruin me."... The abilities ruin a player, not the name. I don't care if you're the God of all Gods... if you're vanilla it means nothing. Make sense?

yes

Edit: thoughts?
This is in line with what I know about his role.

I haven't checked LIS for ability yet, and he is on my list for checking out even though he's been reading relatively village for me thus far. At the very least I definitely don't know as much about him as I'd like and it'll might make me feel a bit better about leaning him one way or another

He posted his role on thread. Lol. But, checking him out doesn't hurt.

Weeellll in this game there was indication that the wolves were looking for specific roles, right? Didn't that have something to do with one of their abilities?

Which, I have to put on my tin foil hat and say that it still makes me nervous that Meats is a role name & ability seer and has outted role names on the thread.

Would make sense in my mind for wolves that had a role based on role name + a role based on stealing abilities being paired with a role that could help them hunt for both.

I am aware of the sketchiness of this lol. To be fair, the role names I posted were one shared to me by someone who I thought was very likely to be a wolf and someone whose name was given to me by a wolf

I'm still a little convinced they're looking for a character from Mortal Kombat, or at least may still be looking to kill Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat (hint, if that's you don't share that out on thread).

What are thoughts on investigating MJ? I have a guess about his role but I don't know if I just think it's a good idea to check into him because he's been a little absent on thread. I've been having a problem lately with tunneling on quieter players (sorry @Frozenshades) so I don't know if MJ is a good line of investigation or not.

Did not see anywhere that wolves were looking for a specific character. And if they are it is usually a specific wolf that can have that interaction. I'd guess that wolf is dead if the mods revealed that info.

I'm more nervous about vmh being a seer and still breathing.

I would recommend ability over role name

Tbh same. I don't know why I wasn't killed N2 after they figured out my role and I've kind of been operating each night with the assumption that I'll be night killed and it just hasn't happened yet.

Also I believe it was britzen (who was Shao Khan from Mortal Kombat) who was looking for Liu Kang (also from Mortal Kombat). Obviously britzen is dead now so the Liu Kang thing is kind of moot but just in case it's probably best to keep that role on the down low

Yeah, that's what I was planning. I've actually only been ability seering so far in this game because I think it's more useful than role name seering for most players
That's interesting though because I feel like role name has been very indicative of affiliation from what we've seen so far with wolves.

But stop distracting me from Mel. He is at minimum not a villager and needs death. Rawr! :rage:
*sigh* I'm half tempted to encourage y'all to lynch me just to knock DVMD down a peg.

I could potentially see Mel being chaos, but him being chaos would also necessitate another player being chaos alongside him imo. There is precedent for that (the DRoP game had a similar-ish chaos role) but I'm not sure how that parses for this game.

I actually wondered when I died if someone seered me the first night and discovered my role name/ability so took me out. But I did not get indication of such seering so I eliminated it as a possibility.

Bolded and blue. Doesn't mean it is true.

Do you realize how sketchy af that actually is?
Hindsight is always 20/20. While I do understand that doing ability seering only is sketchy, you also have to recognize that my ability is inherently sketchy either way. I was using ability seering because I didn't know how useful role names would be for affiliation sorting in the beginning of the game and sort of just stuck with it for consistency's sake. I also thought it would help me build a more complete spreadsheet of what abilities are out there and how they are being used to sort out a player's intentions in terms of how they are engaging with the gameplay. Also consider that I'm mainly familiar with Mortal Kombat and not many other Sega franchises and you may sort of understand why I wasn't totally comfortable checking out role names and going from there.

And that's fine, that makes sense, but we now know that role name probably does mean something and you're still only interested in going for abilities?

Yes. Knowing an ability allows me the chance to look back and see the context of how it appears to have been used throughout the game. Role name is of limited usefulness particularly if we are convert hunting now

I agree that only going for abilities is odd, but to be honest, I probably would have done similar with that role. Wouldn't you have?

And what exactly do you think role names will tell us know, especially with you and Mel and many others thinking there is a convert floating about. Role name won't do jack **** for locating a convert. Heck, even ability may not.

The bolded is why I'm trying to crowdsource input on who would be the best to check out. I'm hoping other players may have a suspicion of who I should target that will give us the most useful information for wolf hunting

Tell me, if you had been given this role and had to use it from the start of the game, how would you have gone about it? I'm a very context driven player and think the more information the better. I would argue quite a few people would have played it similarly because the more information you have as a villager the more power you have to lynch wolves instead of villagers. Look at the FS lynch, which ran off in large part because of my questions about the role name snowy told me she got from role name seering him the night she had my ability for her own use. Role names can be dangerous to play with and I've been burned by them in enough games to not always trust them even in games where they're relatively reliable indicators of village/wolf.

Why did anyone listen to anything snowy gave them? That is the biggest question here.

contingency lynch AM

been too long a night. I've got to catch up on the last 3 pages in the morning.

Contingency lynch LIS

I went back and did a big re-read; was sketched out by what I saw from him. Not convinced by the blocking language or whatever. Would look at DVMD as convert if he flipped wolf.

Second choice would be Meats, third choice would be Dubz.

Both vmh and dubz had a lot of cross-over interactions with each other and with snowy and Jil. I don't like the coordinated feeling I got from all 4 of them while re-reading the thread, but I also really don't think all 4 of them would be wolves unless dubz was a convert the night she claimed to be "attacked". I highly doubt she is an original at this point.

And as far as that last part goes...idk. I kinda like the thought of her getting converted the night she was like "haha wolves, I still had my ability after all". Just...weird. Also, originally dubz and vmh had opposing posts and dubz was getting after meats quite a bit, but recently they have changed the dynamic.

Everyone else I have reason to lean village or strong feels that they are ok.

The blocking language only convinces me that he was a villager from the start. Can't comment on if he was converted or not. I feel like I keep having to repeat that. But, yes, based on what the mods sent me last night and what he stated on thread, I do very much believe that he was a villager from the beginning. Would be very shocked to see anything different.

Can you point me to where that post was? Because I just did a re-read and to be honest I couldn't find what you were talking about.
