Well... It just seems so classically noobish for a glib remark to be taken out of context and out of control in the game thread, especially on D1, when we don't know where to start and in all probability will yeet a villager. If I were a wolf I'd be quite conscious of that and get a feel for the village before charging ahead. Dropping in with a salt yeet for someone who is flashy and loud, who would certainly draw attention to getting salt yeeted, seems like a great way to draw votes that are... Not exactly retaliatory, but more like "I don't know who to vote for yet but your reasoning is disagreeable to me, so I will vote here."

I'd prefer to slide in on another vote, or get the lay of the land and say something like "I don't know what I'm doing... Yeet <name>."

But it was only one vote which has since been removed.

You also voted a wolf D1 last game so I'm surprised by this perspective.
 
I'm not saying that finding wolves on D1 is impossible... I'm just saying that joking about a salt yeet when everyone does a bit of that, then it getting questioned ten ways to hell, is likelier to make me see the questioner as a fried villager and wolfbait for village violence than as a wolf. You've played more than me so you probably have experienced counter-example circumstances quite often

Just to note I tend to find people over explaining votes wolfy. Especially when it’s a new player trying to figure out how to enter the thread. Here’s my first post from my first wolf game so you may get why it pinged me:

Her first post from IRL today was fine on its own because I don't have any problem with people saying they aren't going to be around (although it's NAI). The later post saying how it's her first village game and to cut her some slack was pingy and felt overexplainy. And then the post about the three way tie when it was >24 hours from yeet close also felt off to me. Also when I looked back all of her posts from yesterday were all fluffy.

AM was pissed about it, I went on thread and made the salt vote that made the most sense to my brain, wolf partner or not.

I got this far in rereading kdswg's yeet day before my eyes got tired:

- stoat did start the kdswg wagon upon her return to life
- there was some implication of kdswg being wolfy because stoat was killed the night she said she was going to investigate them (sorry kdswg, don't know your pronouns)

Well then I'm officially backing off on proteccing kdswg. I very much have a cognitive bias towards sympathy for someone who yeets me, in order to avoid retaliatory yeet logic

Do you feel like you see it more from noob wolves than from the general noob population? Like it's possible I'm overcorrecting, but I feel like I've seen plenty of noobs get heat for being over-explainy in their first votes and they haven't all been wolves.

honestly i understand where you’re coming from. all day i feel like i’ve been way overthinking things. genuinely, i am a bit intimidated playing with all of y’all veterans and i am afraid of coming across as dumb to you guys. i can see how that can manifest itself as overexplaining. i hope you can see that i tried to make more posts of substance and less fluff today.

I do feel it more from noob wolves but I can look back and see if that’s self serving bias. I’ll go back and look a bit more tomorrow.

just skimming on the most recent game, there's multiple start-of-thread votes that seem like you would deem "over explain-y" from villagers.

less self defense, more offense. that noob hesitancy tends to set off veteran wolfdar because it also sounds like a guilty (wolfy) conscience.
