Accepted to Mayo clinic SURF (2/22) and Northwestern SynBREU (2/26), rejected from EPFL (2/25) and MD Anderson CPRTP (2/15). Anyone know anything about the Mayo clinic program or the Northwestern one?

Which Mayo lab were you accepted to?

A lab in the Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics department, but idk if I'll accept lol. They only gave me till Thursday🙁
If you're waiting for other offers, you could email and ask for an extension for around a week. Where were you hoping to go?

I asked for an extension but they said no hahaha :'( I think I'll either accept Northwestern or wait for UCSF SRTP or one of the Amgen programs (but I feel like I have a pretty low chance at those lool)

Would you mind PMing me your stats, I'm still waiting for Mayo and am getting nervous that I'm already rejected haha.

Just got accepted to UC Berkeley NSF REU! (Biology)

Congrats!

anyone hear back from northwestern srop, nyu, emory sure, or washu biomedrap?

I went to Mayo Surf last year and I am returning for a second cycle this year

@tetrisgod The experience was amazing. They treat you like you are coming back as a physician or scientist. There are daily seminars that you can attend all throughout the Mayo campus that have the leading doctors presenting their work in front of you. The Mayo campus is absolutely beautiful!!! Although MN is cold, the summers are one of the best in the country with warm weather so cold won't be an issue. I couldn't imagine any other institution being better. I was so impressed with my experience at Mayo! You also have so much autonomy in the labs you work in. I worked in neurological surgery lab and the methods I used for my experiments would blow your mind!! PM me if you want to know more. You would not regret attending!

Still haven't heard back from mayo. I think to avoid checking my email and portal every 30 minutes of everyday like I've been doing, I need to just assume I didn't get it lol.

Still not good enough for Mayo.......................................................................................................................................JK! You seem competitive but Mayo has a lot of savage applicants. When I got my acceptance letter this year it showed the ratio of people applying and number of acceptances and it was less than 10% acceptance I believe and I would assume everyone has top stats applying. I know that they give out acceptances until late March so I think you are still in a good spot!

Sophmore/rising junior and biology major at a small liberal arts college (I know i,m young) 3.83(Had higher but I was in a very bad accident that left me hospitalized for a month ,unable to walk until recently, and I'm playing catch up) Did research at an R.E.U. last summer as a freshman, got accepted to present at national/state conferences (got into accident on way to national one but went to state one). Have a research poster, volunteer as a robotics referee for kids, currently about to start volunteering at a hospital when fully healed, and starting a club at my school. And I'm a urm

For me when I declined offers, I had just used the excuse that dates ended up not working. I said that I had to push back my MCAT date since I wasn't able to study as much throughout the semester as I thought I would be able to, and that I need the extra time in the summer! (in my case, this is true btw haha!)

Right, I was wondering what @rcotter did since they have gotten acceptances spaced out over a few weeks, and I anticipate the early acceptance schools are getting antsy.

I talked to my advisors and they recommended asking for extensions without providing a reason. They said it’s usually quite obvious to Adcoms that asking for an extension means you’re hoping for a better offer elsewhere, so keeping it simple and ambiguous when asking for an extension, and asking for a specific extension (e.g. two weeks, this specific date, etc) was better received.
