You can rent a car for cheaper, I rented an SUV for 20 bucks total from the airport for my interview. Renting a car is the way to go.

yea thats it im 26, didn't realize they charged more for being under 25.if you're over 25... lol
I just canceled a 10/21 interview if someone wants to move up. Good luck!
I was told that the Hilton Garden Inn Las Vegas/Henderson (1340 West Warm Springs Road | Henderson | NV) was recommended. When I was booking the hotel the lady told me that they provide a shuttle to/from the airport and to/from Touro. All you have to do is schedule it. Also, she said that the shuttle to/from the airport are on odd hours and to Touro are on even hours. Just a heads up if you decide to skip out on the rental.Do any of the recommended hotels in the interview email provide transportation to/from the airport? I'd hate to rent a car for a 15 mile drive each way.
Does anyone know if Touro-NV screens for their secodary? They are the only school I haven't received a secondary from (I just realized this....I've been complete at ALL the other schools for close to 3 weeks now!). I'm wondering if maybe they screen for MCAT subsections (I have a 6PS/10VR/9BS), or if I should just call and ask?! Maybe my application got lost in the shuffle?
Yeah, booked my flight and hotel--and was going to book a car rental but it's almost as expensive as flight.
Might just end up doing a shuttle--which is unfortunately cause I want to travel and explore the area. $50 bucks a day for being under 25 (I'm 24).
Our campus is one big building so a car isn't needed if you live walking distance. There is an apartment complex (Remington I believe) that's is a quick walk (less than 5 minutes), but it is hot in Vegas so I wouldn't want to be too far away.Question for students: Is a car a necessity on campus?

Already booked car rental!
With that said--if anyone is arriving on Tuesday at around 1 PM--id be more than willing to give you a ride to the school area.
Im staying at the Hilton Garden Inn.

I'm assuming you have the morning interview?
He's interviewing on Oct 9, the day following your interview day.
I'm interviewing on Oct 9th? Though I'm doing the afternoon 12 - 6 PM interview.
I had to do the morning interview so I can take a very late flight back home in order to get to work the next day 🙁I'm interviewing on Oct 9th? Though I'm doing the afternoon 12 - 6 PM interview.

It starts at 8 with introductions and briefs and all of that and then around 10 you do the standard split into two groups with one going on the tour and the other staying for interviews. After all of that there is a brief financial aid presentation, lunch, and a very useful Q and A session with current medical students.
That's how it went for my morning interview anyway. All in all, it was a good day, I really liked the overall atmosphere and the students. Still waiting to hear back of course...I've just about put my deposit down on AZCOM after cancelling some other interviews, but I've been delving into TUNCOM information a bit more lately and it's making me a little more undecided as to which school I would rather attend. I don't think there is any doubt the pre-clinical years are great quality.
I have a hard time finding feedback from students on the clinical years here though. It seems like they could be pretty solid, I really like the idea of having Las Vegas and surrounding areas dedicated to mostly TUNCOM students. But if there are any 3rd or 4th years (or recently graduated) lurking around, it would sure be appreciated if you could throw some info our way.
If you're looking to specialize, I think AZCOM would be the better school. Their match list has a lot more specialty matches, and AZCOM has some of the best board scores and board passage rates of any DO school.
Anyone else interviewing tomorrow morning? Unfortunately, I'm only spending a grand total of 20 hours in Las Vegas (including interview) so this is a very quick turnaround. Won't get to see much of the city, at all.
Ate some horrible pizza that was delivered to the hotel. Ugh. 👎 Stay away from Mama DePalmas Pizza.
Yeah those are actually some of the main reasons I am more or less decided on AZCOM, they don't have just high pass rates but also high averages. I hear quite a few grumblings about their clinical years, yet they consistently match a lot of specialties, even at places like John Hopkins and Mayo. They certainly get results so they must be doing something right! I guess I'm just being thorough in my decison, thanks for the input.
Having said that, Nevada seems to have some pretty solid numbers as well and their match list has more and more specialties every year.
My app was released on 9/20 but I still haven't received a secondary. I left a message for them regarding this since no one ever answers. Is this normal or should I be doing something different?
You applied kinda late. I think right now, for a lot of schools, they are putting their efforts on the people they have interviewed. I think they are going through them first, and then go back and look at applications.
