Hoping to hear back today or tomorrow! Per my conversation last Monday, us 10/9ers who didn't hear back should hear back "within 2 weeks."

Also--if I haven't back by tomorrow at around ~11, I'll probably call.

Yea we have one large building that has plenty of room for what we need and for expansion. The heat in Vegas makes it impractical to have a campus style setting. I like not having an undergraduate institution personally I like not having to deal with any undergraduate students. All the resources you need will come from your medical school, Im not sure what resources an undergraduate program could provide. Our anatomy lab is really nice which I think is really important since you will spend a ton of time in the lab learning anatomy. I think our combined exams will really help with boards but with anything the time you put into studying will dictate your grades and your success on boards. Medical school is allot of self learning, they provide you with the information and are there to help if you have issues but you have to push yourself to excel. I hear good things about the rotations here we can stay in vegas all 3rd/4th year and some preceptors are exceptional from what I've heard from upperclassmen. Im really looking forward to doing an emergency medicine clerkship in Vegas.

Well, there is a varied demographic of the student body from all over the US; however, a majority of the student population come from either So Cal or Utah. To ace your interview, be truthful as to what you did in your application and overall be honest. If you have a "fudge" in your application here or there, you may need to address it if a question arises, such as low GPA and/or MCAT. One of the previous posts mentioned that you will have a 2 on 1 interview. I can say that the interviewers at TUN are varied in their approaches when interviewing students...some interviews will be good cop/bad cop, while others may be relaxed and chill...it just depends on who you are assigned to for your interview. As to waitlist movement...proly not until the beginning of the next year. Usually around the beginning of January half of the class is full.

I think (typically) DO school deposits are large and non refundable. Would suck to be out the $1000+ if you get accepted to a higher priority school.
 
I got a confirmation for my secondary early-mid September but have not heard anything from the school...should I call in?

Do students typically study from lecture notes and review books? Are textbooks used at all?
I am so torn between this school and LECOM-B. Is one better than the other if I am almost certain I'd like to specialize in EM?

I have a deposit down at both, and my guilt grows each day knowing I am holding a spot that should be someone else's.
 
Just got an acceptance email! Are they usually this fast? I interviewed last week.

Powerpoints are the way to go for us. Some classes may want you to read a textbook...I do for biochemistry. We have mediasite that allows people to stay at home for non-mandatory classes.

This school is definitely one of my top choices, so hopefully I rock the interview next week Monday.
 
Ahhh congrats to all!

I still haven't heard back--guess I'll call again tomorrow. Any other 10/9ers that havent heard back?

Edit: and I'm surprised so few 10/21 people responded. Though I find it odd for them just to send a few acceptances now--and the rest tmmr?

Hi everyone! I'm interviewing here Dec 3 and I was wondering how many people are usually invited to each interview? At TUCOM, there was only 9 people in my interview session and I was wondering if it's the same as TUNCOM. Thanks so much in advance!

We have power points from our lectures that I use as a primary source of studying, They give us a list of textbooks we can purchase and assigned reading but I use books I have from undergrad/masters when theres something I need to clarify. I use BRS (especially for anatomy) since most of our question are clinical vignette style, it helps to figure out what sort of questions you will be asked. We have some PBL components in biochemistry and physiology, I'm not a huge fan of it. I personally wouldn't want a PBL based curriculum but some people like it. If you think you can do well in PBL LECOM-B is a good choice. Most people would choose it for the cost difference. If money isn't an issue I like the location better at Touro-NV than Bradenton. (Im also a Florida resident)

I think it's generally 12-15. Mine had 12 in October

Will PM you with my exact specific idea----but my letters were very strong and my interview I felt went good (they commented on my knowledge on subjects). I think my lower MCAT score (10/8/8) might have been a weak point for them. Since I didnt even get a waitlist, I think it might have been something I said??

I was rejected today too. I thought the interview went well but my 25 MCAT could have hurt. Glad I have other acceptances. GL!

I had a fantastic few days in Vegas and the school was just great. Far and away the best interview and interviewers I have had - enthusiastic, interested and responsive. I felt really welcome and would love to be accepted here. Henderson is a nice little suburb that gives you a little distance from the craziness in Vegas while still giving you the benefits of living in a big city.

Tell me about it.... I'm in a similar situation, here or LECOM-B. I have deposits down at both, but each day I'm leaning more and more towards Touro-NV. I've lived in FL for awhile now, but I loved Henderson and the idea of staying in the area to do rotations is highly appealing. Plus, the anatomy lab was awesome.

I haven't interviewed at TUNCOM (yet), but I would pick NSU out of the 2. Of course this is just my opinion, but the age, reputation, and opportunities at Nova are hard to find in other osteopathic medical schools. Of course, TUNCOM is a great school, and you can't go wrong by attending there.

I know what you mean, NSU has a lot of opportunities and they are even opening up a new hospital or research building, I forget. Only thing is TUNCOM is 4 hours away from my home. Both school are good schools.... just so hard to choose.
 
torn between here and touro-ca. thoughts?

If you like to be near home, stay with TUN. If you like research, TUN has it as well.
 
How are the exams? Do they reflect COMLEX style questions? What percentage of students take the USMLE here?
I'm 75% leaning towards choosing this school at this point.

Most people I talk to tell me to choose LECOM-B, because it's "the better school" and the fact that it is way cheaper. However, I just liked Touro more on interview day. I actually felt excited about attending the school. I can afford either school, but I feel like i'm being fiscally irresponsible choosing the more expensive option for the same end just because I liked the "vibe" better at a particular school. I currently live 5 minutes from LECOM and the thought of staying here is not exciting. I am terrified that if I choose one I will have this constant pang of regret. Is it best to go with your 'gut feeling' or just choose logically based on price/reputation?

I know I am fortunate to be in a position to choose between schools, but it is tormenting me at the same time.

When I interviewed at LECOM earlier this past year, a requirement of that school was that you had to be in formal attire every day until 5:00 PM. Here at TUN, we are required to be formal for mandatory classes only. I chose TUN over LECOM-B mainly because the atmosphere seemed nicer than at LECOM-B. For our tests, we have group testing that is supposed to mimic the format of USMLE/COMLEX. It has its advantages over single class testing.
