My stats were are follows: Undergrad cGPA 3.18 (EMT cGPA 4.0), 29 MCAT, many extra-curriculars, 2 published research papers, LOR from a NMM DO I shadowed/my research PI/MD who I went on a medical mission with (I forget who's letter I used). I interviewed sometime in mid march last year and I got waitlisted and then got accepted off the waitlist.

My point is Yes! I think you have a chance of being accepted. I know how difficult applications can be, especially the waiting. Hang in there!
 
anyone else interviewing April 13th? I received an invitation for an interview over two months ago and the only date they said they had was April 13th. Am I late to the game and basically looking at a waitlist spot?

Awesome! Glad to hear it. I was also contacted today to fill an interview spot. What date are you going? I got the last interview date... 4/28. I would guess that this means I'm pretty much interviewing for a wait list spot?

I am an accepted applicant attending TUNCOM in 2015. My stats were 27 mcat, and 3.4 cum, 3.3 science. I believe you have a very good chance of being accepted. As you probably know, it will be a bit harder since your interview is in March, but you definitely have a chance! If you wait until the next cycle to accumulate more shadowing hours with the DO and apply early I think it would be almost a slam dunk for you because of your gpa and extra curriculars. Your choice.
 
Any idea on how Clinicals work at this school.. tried looking up the information kinda vague online ? Do you have to stay in Vegas all four years or you can travel. Interviewing here next month!! And is there a list of sites?

I work with an attending in the ER who graduated from here and said he stayed in Vegas/henderson for all 8 years (yep including residency)

Sunset Station was pretty cheap. Rooms weren't that bad either and it was only about 5 minutes away from the school.

I forget about 3rd year and whether or not you can venture outside of NV, but 4th year you can leave.

Stay at the strip get a car !! it is only 15 mins away might as well enjoy vegas while you are at it !!

Stayed at Palms when I went it was 600 for 4 nights including flight another 200 for car 100% worth it

If you stay at palms you get access to ghost bar (best view of vegas skyline), and the rooms were newly renovated !! If you have a car valet is free at almost all hotels so it is really easy to travel!! Ideally I would say stay on something 4 stars and try to take a friend with you if you can!! You will have a blast!!

lmao honestly ill probably just get a room close to the school cuz believe it or not i dont drink but ill probably get a car just to see the sights. after all i do get in at 11am that day haha

There is a lot to do around there, buffets, see the huge casinos, hit up a pool party, watch a show, go downtown, if you have time visit the canyons or hoover damn (30 mins away). It has definitely been one of my favorite interview spots lol

huh ill probably walk around the strip or something. im really nervous i still have no acceptances this cycle 🙁 anyone have any interview advice for me?
 
Was me last year!! cycle is long man don't worry !! worst comes to worse retake courses u did bad in and re apply more broadly.

haha this is my second cycle but first applying to DO schools 😛 my stats are 3.73 overall gpa (3.65 science 3.95 nonscience) bio major chem minor 26 MCAT (9/9/8) with ton of ECs...Touro CA accepted me into their pharm program but i kinda have my heart set on being a physician so hopefully this works out...
 
Having an acceptance into one program and then "kinda" having your heart set on another when you potentially take on 200K in debt is "kinda" crazy...

good luck with whatever you choose man but hopefully you end up loving medicine and don't regret not going the pharm route.

So far this is the only school that has accepted me, cuz for some reason it was the only interview I walked out feeling I did great.
My advice is KNOW your application cold. Be prepared to explain anything on there, like research, etc. KNOW what a DO is and why you want to be a DO. Know why Nevada and Touro. Several additional qs they asked: why medicine and not another helping profession? how I envision myself in 10 years? What is the biggest challenge I had to deal with? Are you really prepared to deal with the challenges of med school?
Make sure to be confident in what you say, and also don't forget to write a thank you email to both your interviewers afterwards.

I am interviewing on Monday, March 23rd and was wondering if anyone has already booked a rental car and wants to split the cost of it for the day or is driving their own car and wants to rideshare (I'll pay for your gas).
 
I'm just curious, does anyone know what model of laptop the school is requiring incoming students to purchase from them?

Hot balls just looked that laptop up--There is no reason for it to cost that much! Why do schools make you buy a particular laptop? I'm sure a computer that costs 500 would do just fine...what kind of programs do they plan to have us run!?!?
 
For those who were on the wait list after the interview and got in, did you do anything like sending a letter of intent or any update? I feel weird that they dont want us to send them anything when we are wait listed.

They said they do not accept any letters or updates post interview.

I personally dislike the laptops. I think they make us buy them because they installed programs on there that we need for classes and if it ever stops working, IT will more likely be able to fix it. For example, we take our exams using software on the laptop.
 
Hey has anyone living in Nevada had any experiences with tarantulas and/or scorpions in homes?
 
For those who interviewed Feb 23rd responses have started to go out. Got waitlisted.
