So, is anyone else getting that feeling that's like "oh **** I'm really going to med school...and it's going to be a lot of work"? It's starting to really sink in after I got that post-deposit e-mail haha.

I wanna start now (words I probably will regret after August) after months of sitting around!!!! Anyone else doing that mentor thing where you get matched up with a current student and shadow them and ask them questions?
4 months, 12 days...
I am sorta taking advantage of the mentor program. I've been asking my student alot of questions and he's been sending me his old syllabi for biochem and anatomy, etc. it's really helpful just to get a feel for what chapters are assigned and how much reading there is. Bottom line is, i'm pretty excited and counting down the days myself! the school has alot of potential and i'm pretty excited to get out there and do the docter thing. i don't know bout you guys!

how much reading is there per night?
I am on the waitlist for Touro NY but got accepted to NYCOM. I can drive from home from Touro but would have to rent an apartment to attend NYCOM. If I get off the waitlist at Touro, should I attend Touro or NYCOM?

I'm feeling the same way. Luckily, I didn't sell my biochem and anatomy books....I'll probably pick them up here and there or once summer starts. I just finished my undergrad and I don't have a thing to do until August 3rd. Yippee Skippee!
Anyone have any groovy plans for the summer?
I keep forgetting to sign up for that mentorship program. I should get on that.

i'm just working right now and finished my undergrad back in december. but i feel like i want to travel and decompress for a while before aug. 3rd rolls around so i think i'm gonna quit my job. don't really like it anyways. it will probably be the only time i can do that. hope ur studies go well and look forward to seeing everybody!
lol for sure... definitely thinking about getting really comfortable with my old biochem book and busting out some anatomy flashcards soon... can't do anything till summer though, apparently i still need to graduate from college first 😛
Traveling is a huge must in my book. I'm headed to Moscow in two weeks for a little soviet jaunt. In the summer I'll probably head somewhere south, maybe Peru, Argentina, who knows.
Any place you had in mind?
Just saw that you're from Cali. What school do you go to?
graduating from Berkeley in the spring, but i'm originally from anaheim (socal!). i still need to figure out summer plans, but i think i'll most likely stay in norcal and keep working my jobs to accumulate a little money before August... (sigh) oh, the financial joys of being a med student 🙁
my sister lives in SF and goes to the art institute there. i'm heading up tomorrow morning for a few days to visit her, any recommendations for an out-of-towner?![]()
I have to take a Psych course haha. Apparently being an engineering major doesn't give you the best behavioral sciences background...fmylife. Other than that I'll be working so coffeeandtea I hear ya!

Does anyone know when they will assign numbers to those who were placed on the high wait list, and when they will start to offer spots to those wait listed? Just found out and now I'm nervous... I really liked the school a lot. 🙁
did you go to the lecom interview on tues? I think i met you there.
anyway to answer your question, high waitlisters have ALL gotten in the last 2 yrs. half or so of medium waitlisters get in, and low waitlisters don't get in. its not a gaurentee, but its a general rule of thumb. they should start taking people off the waitlist a couple of weeks after the last interviewed group. I hold a seat there, but im 90% sure I won't be going. THeres typically a lot of movement w/ the waitlist come may and june the most.
They told me to take a behavioral science course too, but I was an MPH with a lot of behavioral type of courses. I talked to Obed and he said Economics is also counted as a behavioral science. Try to see if you can dig up something in your record to go towards anything remotely related to behavior.
Phew! That's a relief! 👍I doubt it, there may not be as many spots left as before but I think there are still spots left, you can ask Obed and find out how many. When I interviewed on 2/10 the class was only half full...if you have good stats and what not and ace your interview I doubt highly they would turn you away or waitlist you.
I was wondering... and perhaps everyone can add their speculations and guesses, but if you received an interview, is that a sign that the only criteria they will consider is your interview? I only ask because I heard such a comment from another thread. But I feel like that doing this would overlook other aspects of a candidate. More likely, even after an interview, numerical stats are looked upon in the final decision... What do you all think?
Even after an interview, the admissions committee will all sit down and look at the applicant's entire file once again. This is when certain strongpoints/weakpoints are brought up once again, which ultimately leads to the final decision. This is not to say that there are some schools that weigh the interviews more heavily than others but for the most part, the ENTIRE file is given a once over.
How do you know this? There are only 20 spots left in the class
