Just wondering if anyone will be interviewing at Tucom on the 2nd...if so let me know. I have an interview scheduled for that morning, and will be flying in on May 31st. Let me know people...

Hi everyone,

Just a head's up on Vegas - I interviewed April 19th and was told there were spots available, no such luck, got waitlisted instead. Today I rec'd a letter from Dr. Haight, who appears to be leaving as he mentions a "new dean" coming in and mentions an early acceptance program so if I don't get in this round, I have a 2/3rds chance on being accepted to next year, which will occur the first week of August. Knowing how up-front Haight is, I'm sure he'll tell you all this during the interview. Pulling off the waitlist begins in June and will occur until the 1st week of August.

They recommend a "reaffirmation of their committment to Osteopathy, and TUCOM being their first choice, or updated grades, or an additional recommendation." Being brief seems to be the theme.

Sorry to post this under the above email, but I thought everyone should know the sitch. Good luck! I really like this school.

Thanks,

Kay

I got the same letter about early acceptance so I am waiting to see what happens.

I interviewed last Thursday and will have to wait until the decision to be made on the 3rd (letters to go out June 4th).

Supurman - good luck on the interview! Dr. Haight and Brian were wonderful and the interview was very LOW STRESS!! Everything was off of our secondary applications or general "why medicine/osteopathy" questions. It was an honor to be invited to interview and I hope that the outcome is positive for me in a few weeks. Best of luck to you!! Enjoy San Francisco while you are here (I was the only person in my interview group from the San Fran Bay Area)...

TUCOM-NV sites will all be in the Las Vegas Area...

So Dr. Haight is leaving? He was a nice person when I met him. Where is he going?

What my letter says exactly as its explaining the early acceptance program:

"So, why did I wait until now to let you know that this program (early acceptance) would be extended, particularly since a relatively large percentage of students who have been wait-listed in past years have been offered Early Acceptance to the subsequent year? The answer as far as TUCOM, Mare Island is concerned is that we have a new Dean and I was uncertain that she would support the program."

OHMIGAWD - I'm SO silly - I just read his title, Dr. Haight is the director of ADMISSIONS!!! SORRY!! Chalk it up to stress/finals/reading too quickly with little sleep ... I goofed. He's not going anywhere. Nevermind!! 🙂

Hi,
I am interviewing for Tucom-LV on June 2nd as well, I will be flying on the 1st. Was wondering why they are interviewing this late, since the school start early August. Also when I read about people being waitlisted on this thread even when they were interviewed early on, kinda got me nervous. The thing is, I got my interview letter 2 monthes ago. The funny thing is, they got my secondary application the day before they sent out my interview notice. So I was wondering if they had read my secondary application or not. So if they are interviewing at this late, even with people being waitlisted, what does that mean? What are our chances of getting in? Does any one know? Kinda nervous right now, after reading some of the post...especially when the interview is like in 3 days.

CHxyz,

TUCOM-NV is interviewing this late because they are operating on a shifted timeline. They did not start interviewing until Jan of this year when all the other schools were interviewing back in Sept. From what I have heard is that interviews are scheduled until June 10th...I can't remeber where I heard that but this is the very end of the interviews. All I know is that the class is almost full and I can't say what your chances are since there are so many variables. Just do your best and shine in the interview. Try to relax and get to know your fellow interviewees since some of you will be interviewing together and it'll make things easier for you. Dr. Haight is great and will tell you what to expect before and after the interview. Be sure to ask him all the questions that you have.

:luck: GOOD LUCK! :luck:

Thanks box29. Reading the forum had got me really worried, but I think I am over it now 🙂

Hi all,

Sorry I won't be meeting you guys at TUCOM-NV this fall, but I hope declining my acceptance will open up a spot this fall for one of you. Wish you all the best of luck and as I met with some of the faculty, I know you'll have a wonderful time there.

good luck to you guys interviewing at TUCOM Las Vegas....HOWEVER

I hope you guys have strong will power, because I just couldn't study medicine there...with the strip, the poker, the clubs, etc, etc....I wouldn't be able to concentrate. That's why when I go to Vegas it's all about having fun. I remember one time, I went there with my cousins, and I had a midterm a week later, so I decided to take my book to "review" on my free time ....... it never happened....my free time was spent sleeping or poker....

anyways, good luck!

Dr. DOn

hey whats up man,
dont feel bad...good luck on the interview...howd it go? i Have an interview next week....could you please tell me what kinds of questions they have asked you?
thanks man
also, what is the format of the interview?
how many people are there (any names???)
and how long did it take

mak98usa...you've got a PM...

I take it you're referring to CHxyz.

Saw my nick mentioned, so decided to post. I saw Supurman during my interview, he's really cool. Personally, I think the interview was great. Dr Haight was everything people said he is, he made the interview less stressful and his advice helped a lot during the actual interview and can be used for future interviews. My group was wonderful. Seemed like every group before me was great when i read the feed back, so I wouldn't worry about group members. I had wrote a feed back, so if you want to know what they ask me, you can read it. But over all, everything was great. I dont know if Brian will be there next week, but, he's great as well. He is very supportive and helpful. He gets you pumped for the interview, that extra adreline rush so that you wont get nervous. So over all, the whole thing was very positive just like what majority of people said. I seriously hope I will get in now, since everyone was so nice.

I interviewed at TUCOM - SF two years ago, and I still to this day think that Dr. Haight is the most realistic and courteous Dean, that I have ever met. He shows much respect for the average medical school applicant and is always positive in his opinions.

Didn't care for the structure of the interview though. We had a group interview where 4 applicants were interviewed by 4 faculty simultaneously as a group. It sucked!!!

Found out I was waitlisted for Touro - LV. I'm going to send out a letter of intent on Monday and hopefully I can "pull a Brian" 😀 and get an early acceptance for the class of 2009.

Good luck to you all! :hardy:
