That is the link where they have the laptop. To be honest this is quite laughable.

All this crap of laptops crashing and IT being overworked is ridiculous. As long as the software is stable there should be no problems. Having spoken with current students they don't even use their computers other than to take quizzes and notes.

All I've heard regarding software is that professors notes will be on the computer. Whether it's a simple PDF file or PowerPoint it can be put on any basic machine.

Also, the laptop they want us to have is in fact the cheapest I've ever seen and we're being charged a high end price. 160gb HD, DVD, NO OFFICE. Are you kidding me?

Hmm, when I was called about my acceptance to Touro-NV on February 19, I was told by the admissions director that I got lucky and was one of the very last to be squeezed in with an acceptance.

So at this point, unless some people have declined their admissions, I would guess that it's a full class now (if you are being interviewed at this point, it most likely will be for a waitlist spot).

As far as the Dell laptop, I guess I can suck up and deal =P I'll just make the one they give me the "school" one and keep all my goodies on my Mac lappy. So that if the Dell dies, it doesn't take out all my media files that I've been acquiring over time. Or I can use it as a backup when I reformat my external HD, which I like to do from time to time.

Actually this is not true - the class is not full, but is nearly full. I got invited to interview and scheduled today and they told me that the class is not quite full yet.

Pretty much the same thing I was told on the same day (actually the exact words were "this group of acceptances will fill the class", so either two of us are getting the wrong information, or one of us is... since Cheddar and I have been accepted you tell me what is more likely...

Cheddar, when did you interview?

I interviewed January 12, but my file had to be put slightly on hold because there was some last-minute documentation that the committee needed in order to make a decision for me.

I remember when I was interviewing at THAT time there had been a good number of spots left---around 50 maybe. It's over a month later, though, and they have about 15-16 people per interview group.....and I think they interview every week. And I wouldn't be surprised if they have several interview groups each week. Therefore, at this point I doubt there are any acceptance spots left. I believe that it is just waitlist spots left at this point, although they do have the waitlist ranked. So there's still a chance.

I also remember asking, or hearing, about the cutoff of interviews, and I think TUNCOM interviews through March.

It's entirely possible that I heard wrong, but I don't believe so. I initially asked if there were any later interview dates since I didn't get much notice and they told me that it was important for me to interview next week because there are only a few spots left in the class. And people may have declined spots, thus opening up new ones. But regardless, I'm happy to interview for a seat at all, even if it means interviewing for a spot on the waitlist.

Yes, being waitlisted can be great too---if you get put as "High" on the waitlist priority, you have a good chance of being accepted. I believe they often move most, or all, of "High" waitlisted people into acceptance.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this site, and I have an interview on March 3rd. Do you guys think I'll be interviewing for a waitlist spot? Judging by what some of you have been saying all the spots are already filled.

I'm obviously not the gospel truth, but I would guesstimate at this point that you'd be interviewing for a waitlist spot. HOWEVER---if you get waitlisted as HIGH priority, you have a very good chance of being admitted later on. So go into your interview and blow their socks off, yeah? Good luck!!!

Futuredr1183 - I'm also interviewing on March 3rd. I would imagine you'll be able to figure out which one I am by my name ... But good luck!

called admissions office this morning and they said there are still a few spots left for fall 2010's class. I'm interviewing there on march 16th, hope there will still be some spots left open by then. anyone else interviewing on march 16th?

Yes, they also confirmed that there are seats open when I was interviewing there yesterday. Good luck with your interview! Don't stress it - everyone was really great. An overall fantastic interview experience, I thought.

Awesome!

anyone know what is the exact tuition this year? And approximately how much are the living expenses go for on average?

hey guys,

I have an interview scheduled for 16MAR--very late because I had to wait for MCAT scores.

Does anyone have any idea on the possibility of still gaining admission this late?

Thanks for your feedback!

Stats:
Non-traditional applicant (Navy Officer)
33P MCAT
3.49 GPA (Aerospace Engineering, USNA)
Volunteer EMT (4 yrs)

I would say pretty good with your stats, as long as you kick butt on the interview. Aerospace engineering? Wow! MCAT is good, and so is your GPA. It was mentioned earlier that someone called the admissions office and spots were still available. Worst case scenario, if you are placed on the waitlist, there is still a good chance of being admitted. There are three levels, high, medium and low. Those that are in the high category have a VERY good change of being offered a seat. But if that happens, you will probably have to wait a little. Maybe until May, when their second deposit is due. Good luck to you!

We were quoted 75,000 for everything. Tuition, housing, food, materials, etc...

This is actually the max that you can borrow through federal Loans. Tuition is about 40,000. Everything after that will be highly variable, but I definitely do not intend to spend another 35,000 dollars of transportaion, housing, food and personal expenses.

I agree, it is definitely possible to budget because of the affordable housing. I don't see the need for an extra 35,000, unless spending time at the strip. But I'm sure we will not have any time/desire with the amount of work. I am thinking of taking out 60 and seeing how I do with that.

The handout they gave us during the interview showed tuition eating all of the federal sub and unsub. You had to take out a grad plus loan for books, cost of living, etc.

Please correct me if I read it wrong.

Does anyone know if the letter is supposed to indicate the position on the waitlist? Mine just said that I was on the waitlist-it didn't say if I was on high, medium, or low. Do we find out right away or do we have to wait until May to find out?

No Problem!!
By the way... Im not sure where you are from, but Henderson rent is pretty cheap, compared to Cali at least.

How cheap is cheap? I'm coming from north new jersey and rent here is about 800-1200 a month not including heat/hot water. What does it range in Henderson?

Depends on what part of town you are looking to live in but generally its in the same range as you are paying in NJ.
I live about five minutes from the school and I'm paying 750/mo for a 2bd/2bth condo. I can give you a number to a good realtor that can help you find a place that's suitable for you, just send me a PM.

No, there is no way to know where you are on the waitlist. I'm not actually sure if the waitlist is ranked at all or if they re-evaulate those applicants who are on it to determine who to accept. I do recall Oscar saying that if you get a letter inviting you to apply to Touro's Master's program, that means that you are on the low or medium waitlist. My understanding is that you find out whenever they pull your name from the waitlist to the acceptance list. I hope I was able to answer your questions adequately. Good luck!

Its actually worse. You can only take out 20,000 per year total of stafford, where $8,500 is subsidized.

After that you can take Grad Plus Loans, which means that unless you have savings, pretty much all of us will be taking grad plus to also help cover tuition, in addition to housing, supplies, food, and expenses.

Its 40,500 for medical school. Up to 224,000 Lifetime. But yes, only $8,500 is subsidized per year.

It's also on the estimate for fin aid that touro handed out.

Finally got an interview for March 22nd (the LAST day they're interviewing). I was offered an interview for the 16th also but I didn't feel like rescheduling a midterm...

Anyone else? Hopefully there will be a seat left for me!

Good luck! if you don't mind me asking, how long after you turned in your secondary before you got the interview invite?? thanks!

I interviewed 2/22 got a letter saying I'm on the accepted waitlist, what does that mean, anyone know?? 😕

this could be the couple of students who wait to see who shows up for the first day of classes. If someone doesnt show up, you're in; if everyone shows up, you're guaranteed a spot for next year. Thats what i'd think since no one else mentioned any waitlist classifications (high, low) at this time.

I thought that the accepted waitlist is just a little higher than the high waitlist, meaning you'd be the first to get accepted when people decline. I think you're thinking of standby? Anyone else know?

I'm not sure specifically, but I think I was considered complete last month and invited a few weeks later. One of my LORs was late.

I interviewed on the 23rd and also recieved a letter saying that I was on the accepted waitlist. I'm not sure what it means either.
However, since their deposit is 90% refundable, I'm sure quite a few people put a deposit down but then later decline Touros offer if they get accepted to a school they have a higher preference for...meaning numerous seats could potentially open up soon and go to the people on the accepted waitlist.

Interesting, I never heard this. I'm on the waitlist and haven't gotten that letter so good news? :xf: lol Also, do all the waitlist letters say at the bottom that you would be considered a candidate for early accept to next year?

Interviewed march 11....on Accepted waitlist 🙁 I sure hope there's still some movement in the class...

To clarify, accepted waitlist is the first ppl that don't pay their deposit lose their spot and it goes to ppl on the accepted waitlist. Good luck to u all

Does anyone know if they are still interviewing? Also, when do they start taking people off the waitlsit?

March 22 is the last interview...I'm assuming they start taking ppl off the waitlist 2 weeks after the group that interviews that day gets their acceptance letters (assuming there are any spots still in there)

Wow, that's a fast turn around time. Interview results in 4 days?

I actually thought I remembered them saying on interview day that they don't start pulling people from the waitlist until May, BUT I could be remembering wrong. I just remember thinking it was kind of the same deal as DMU, where I got waitlisted.

I also interviewed on the 11th of March and haven't heard back regarding my status, how were you notified of being on the accepted waitlist? I thought that they weren't sending any notifications until this Thursday by mail?

I interviewed on the 11th as well. Oscar specifically said they would meet on Monday (3/16) and send out status notification by mail only! He specifically said not to try calling them because they will not tell you where you got placed. How did you find out about your accepted waitlist status Skippygonenut?

They said that this year they are pulling people from the waitlist throughout the process whenever they feel the person is qualified. I believe there are people who have already been called off the waitlist.
