Hey Col,

How's it going for you? Any wait list movement for you?

Nothing as of yet, thank you for asking though. As Karen mentioned I don't think there's going to be any movement until after May 15th. The email I got from Dr. Sanford said that I could call on that date to get my exact position on the list, so I don't think there's any movin' or shakin' until then.

I had my interview this month. Now waiting.

Best of luck to you! :luck: How do you think it went?

right now Jeff is the best school I got into, and I'd honestly be really happy there.

But as all of us instaters know...uconn would be pretty hard to pass up. So hopefully I have that decision to make.

Ya Karen hope your interview went good! Good luck.

I have gotten into UConn, but I am considering deferring a year for several reasons. Anyone know how that works?

You will probably need to get in touch with Keat Sanford. You should have no problem deferring.

just received an interview invite today, fairly late in the game. does anyone have any sense as to whether they are still outright accepting folks, or is this probably a wait list interview? thanks!

The say you could still get accepted, but I think it is based on how many people give up their own acceptances and go elsewhere. My faculty interviewer acted as if being waitlisted is the only option. I felt as if it's impossible to be accepted now. I think (and hope) that my feeling wasn't right. Another person interviewing said she felt the same way. But hey what do I know. A faculty member told me the adcoms over accepted months ago. True? False? I honestly don't know. You could probably still get accepted.

Does anyone know if the committee is meeting today? Or is it next Tuesday? Or every Tuesday? I hate this process.

If anyone else besides me cares: no, the ADCOMS didn't meet this week.

ha thanks Karen....I think many of us are eagerly waiting May 15th when it comes to UConn...

Hope you dont have to!

I think that last year most waitlist movement occurred in July.
UCONN is still interviewing this month. They are probably making decisions once every two weeks on a constant basis. I also think that good news are likely to be given to us very quickly after the interview (2 weeks?) ?

do schools instantly start accepting on may 15th or do acceptances trickle in

interesting question. and it keeps the thread alive!

I'd imagine not instantly, but soon thereafter. Since that's the date their finalized list of accept-ees will come in, they probably take a day or so to process it. Judging by the overall lack of hustle from this entire process, I don't expect much expedience from the waitlist process either.

"ugh!" is all I have to say at this point

Agreed 100%, not looking forward to potentially having to do this all over again. C'mon high alternates! Here's hoping we ALL come off!:luck:

Anyone else experiencing a delayed post-interview decision turn-around time? I passed the 6-week mark this past Friday, with a ETA for the decision within the next two weeks.

Having to wait longer than 6 weeks was pretty standard last year. Something about "the process taking more than anticipated." They give the same story every year. They will email you/send a letter by the end of May, I'm sure.

Anyone going to second look?

I can't because of prior obligations that weekend. Even if I could, going to second-look while on the waitlist, I'd feel like I was crashing a party I wasn't invited to.

Looks like only accepted students are invited to second look. Kind of makes sense.

I am currently a 4th year @ UConn and the first question they asked me was about the difference between an excellent grade in Organic Chem class and an 18 on the DAT. It was kind of scary, but hey, its one exam and ONE day..... i still got an acceptance letter.

sorry, I help run the tuors at the school... and the second look day is for students who were accepted in December.... that does not mean that others who don't hear back by holiday time, wont get in.

Isn't this process a little different for dental school admissions than it is for the MD program?

it's now april 17th.......

*chirp chirp*.......

Has anyone who interviewed at UCONN around mid through late March heard anything? When i interviewed we were told that the adcom would meet in 2 weeks. Starting to get nervous 😕

Perhaps the meeting got postponed until around now (this week or next week or even the week after). They still had a few interviewees to meet in April. Typical, "official" decision time is 4-6 weeks post the interview. I think it's actually a little more because their review process often takes "longer than expected". Expect to hear nothing until mid May. That's what I'm doing and we interviewed around the same time.

Dr sanford sends all decision types out at the same time so whether u got accepted or waitlisted or whatever you would get it at the same time.. no news doesnt mean bad necessarily.

3 more weeks until we start getting some WL action...the calm before the storm!

Well, I got the middle alternate. Anyone hear or know of any movement off middle alternate from past years?

inside scoop has it that uconn is way over limit for students in the fall, so if you have gotten into another school the best bet for you is to take a spot at the other school.
so even if you were accepted, that might not take ya. dont wanna risk not going anywhere in the fall.
wait-listers ... i dont know what to tell ya

good luck

Thats what ive gotten 2 years in a row now.. its a nice rejection..

actually, not so nice because it gives people false hope.. its a total bummer, sorry man 🙁

I was told by an insider that they overfilled the class by January. Later interviews = not good.

nothing in 2007, nothing in 2006
2008 doesn't look good either, especially if you were given the so called middle or low alternate status. sorry.

If you didn't get an alternate list email, you may have an acceptance letter coming in soon. Maybe you'll get lucky. Post here if you do.

Yeah. Hmmm. Well, I did get into another school- so that's good. But as I reflected upon my interview experience and talked with my wife about our options I felt myself leaning towards UConn. The day before I got the email I was telling my wife, "You know, I hope it's either an acceptance or an outright rejection, because anything else is going to be hell." Turns out I was right.
At this point, I guess we'll be making our plans to move. It is, I agree, tenuous to hold out hope on a middle alternate position, knowing that the class is only 80 students as it is. However, should we be packed and ready to move to Maine (check out the brand spankin' new footer below) come June and miraculously find me bumped off the waitlist, we might have some thinking to do. Until then. . . adieu.

alright. well, that was anti-climatic. let's try again. . .

his sig..

btw, congrats on unecom greendoc.. its a really strong school, their match list i think was posted recently and it was pretty damn good. I feel the same way about my current slated acceptance: KCUMB, their match list was posted by the 4th yrs last week and it had 7 rads, 1 neurosurg, 9-11 (forgot) ortho surg, aroudn 15-18 gen surgery and a bunch of other great matches. so im confident whereever i end up ill be able to do whateveri want.

Thanks for the response to my ???, PokerDoc, and congratulations to all those holding acceptances.

Um. Troll?

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?p=6571153#post6571153

only two posts both trying to dissuade people form UCHC?

I saw that, but I don't think it's a troll. I got similar information from several legitimate sources (about no acceptances being issued later in the process). Seems consistent.

Edit: I know nothing about possible lack of space in the fall for those already accepted.

That's funny, I was just going to ask that and I refreshed and you clarified.

Damn. Does anyone know? I feel like UConn over-accepting is ok for them since there's a good chance people with multiple acceptances would go elsewhere.

Although every year is different, I am sure that adcoms have enough experience to ensure that the entering class is full and everyone offered a spot can enroll.

I was told that they have about a 80% retention rate for those accepted. Nevertheless, I spoke to about ten "second week lookers" who were debating between UCONN and as they put it other schools.

i think the bottom line is:

high waitlist: cross your fingers and pray, theres a chance a miracle can happen

middle waitlist: better look elsewhere

low waitlist: this is uconn slapping you in the face
