I'm waitlisted at #76 at Tucson. Doesn't look too good for me... ah well, it's good to know where I stand.
#76 is a better waitlist number than #infinity.

rejected, meh. i got a 31, 3.75. didnt submit sec to other schools until nov-dec, and only got interviews from mayo and georgtown. gotta retake i guess
Don't give up everyone!!! I have by no means gotten in yet, but I agree with Cuddy's advice. Don't think retaking the MCAT is the best answer! Plenty of people get in below 30 and it's just a number. Personally, I applied for some clinical internships and plan on working at a neuro practice. It's ALL about the clinical!! For us fellow WLers... let's hope for LOTS of movement!! haha
If you are #23, you will be hearing for sure! Congrats! I hope I can join u at Tucson! Move WL Move!
Can someone refresh my memory - is there a date in May at which point people holding multiple acceptances must give them up and choose one school?
Congrats to all those who got it. For anyone on the wait list, my personal thoughts are that they will probably go deeper this year than any other year considering last year's drop in board scores. Last year they got into the 60's. If you're <=60 on the WL you have a very good chance IMO.

Would you explain your reasoning? This makes no sense to me.

I think some people may be concerned that the new curriculum didn't prepare the students fully for boards, hence the drop in scores.
Lower board scores from last year will probably mean more people giving up their spot for another school (those who got multiple acceptances) thus more movement on the WL
So far I haven't seen anyone on here mention that they're choosing another school over UA because of the board scores, but we'll see what happens I guess. Seems like blind speculation to me though.Lower board scores from last year will probably mean more people giving up their spot for another school (those who got multiple acceptances) thus more movement on the WL

Sorry, that seems to be a tenuous argument!
If I had to choose between UofA and another med school, I wouldn't really care about board scores from this year, because I know I won't fail. In fact, I think I'd do rather well and my match chances would still be primarily on my shoulders, not the rep of the school. People don't choose to go to UofA over other schools because of its match list is so much better than others. Sure it's a factor, like everything else, but it's a small one.
My guess is that the low scores or failures were more a result of poor selection by the AdCom than poor teaching because there are plenty of higher stat brainy people who get rejected in favor others with uniqueness and special attributes. My selection between UofA and another school would weigh the same factors as others had to do in previous years.
The points I want to make are that I disagree with your assessment and that there are lots of factors involved, including the influence of the board scores on the AdCom's decision-making. It's speculation, and I wouldn't want to be the one to put false hope into people.
I am retaking the MCAT to hopefully get off the WL at another school, but does anyone know if UA cares about this quarter's grades/MCAT/EC's or is everything pretty set in stone here once the waitlist is out (since it's ranked)?
I just called Phoenix and the woman said the WL is coming out the week of March 23rd... feels so far away!!!
Does anyone know if they send out emails to update people on how far they've gone down the wait list at a particular time? Or do we email them?
krosburg or anyone who knows,
Do you know if the AdCom checks the AAMC registry/database to see if applicants have been accepted anywhere else?
- whoops, almost wrote my real name
I found this thread that has a bit of info on what you're asking...

An admin named "REL" shares some pretty interesting info in the thread.
I'm not sure what U of A's practice is, though.
Wow, Mayo and Georgetown? That's pretty awesome, especially for applying late. If I were you, I'd just do some more EC's and apply early next year!
Congrats to those of you on the waitlist, and good luck!
I would be open to that.Hey guys, I skipped out before opening "IT" and went to work. Anyhoo, my future goals:
1. Meet with Tanisha
2. Meet with you guys? Do a group of you want to get together at say Epic Cafe on 4th Ave in Tucson or somewhere to discuss our upcoming plans and ways to strengthen our apps?
The beat goes on...
