Krismichelle,

I got a response from my e-mail today....and I was told that whoever told me my app would be reviewed 2 weeks ago was mistaken because there is no way of knowing when a certain app will be reviewed! I was also told that I have had no status updates on my app and that they STOP giving interview invites as of December 12th.....👎

BOOOOO I am mad 😡

Thanks for letting me know. So, does that mean that the last interview date is 12-12 or does that mean that they send out the last invites on 12-12 for a later date. Do you know how far in advance they give out interview invites?

If I can chime in, they gave me about 10 days before the 'suggested' interview day. It could be different for the end run.

Yeah, it could be random I guess. I've never gotten this far with any school, so maybe we could sift through the 07-08 thread for what happened with them.

i am trying to find where I can actually look at the secondary I submitted, i went here: http://my.hsc.unt.edu/

and then i clicked admissions application and i typed in my euid and pw but nothing..any help?

Yeah, you can't see your secondary after it is submitted. I already tried to do this before my interview, but I couldn't access the file even with the specific ID and password they require you to do for the secondary.

I also never understand why they did that. It's highly unintuitive and often times, I forget which secondary is the one that I was actually working on last before the save because at one point, I was doing two simultaneously. I think in order to prevent 'confusion' if you are a reapplicant, like I was, was to prevent people from accessing the secondary after submission.

Although, when you think about it, I would think that most reapplicants would notice that they're working on their old secondary not their new one. Again, it's all needlessly confusing. Maybe they'll revamp it someday.

Uh, I hope that answered your question. It kinda turned into a rant

yup, that was helpful - thanks! i figured b/c i couldnt find a link or anything for it

o and congrats on the interview! 🙂

i got the call for my interview this past saturday morning...am interviewing 11/25, so thats a 10-day notice
anyway, i found this great froum while preparing for my interview. there's some really good info here 🙂
i have a question for those who have already interviewed at TCOM. What time were you done by that day? (I'm asking because I have a class in the afternoon, and the proff doesnt allow make-up quizzes. so i'm trying to figure out if i will be able to make it to campus in time to take my quiz...or if i should continue begging my proff to let me take the quiz a day early)
also, one more question: i have my 1st interview at 1:15 and my 2nd at 2:00. will I be able to make it on time to the 2nd interview? i'd hate to be late, and i'm assuming i won't be since TCOM has scheduled it that way, but I just want to make sure its not an error or something
again, these forums are amazing! thanks to everyone who has contributed, i wish i had found it earlier.
oh, and i'm rooting for everyone who's still waiting to hear back for an interview/acceptance. the waiting game is so hard!

gemstones, you should be done around 245. interviews last around 45 minutes but you should be able to make the second interview. Caroline (the lady you probably will first meet) said that they put gaps in between the interviewers who usually go for longer periods so your first interviewer may have a history of doing shorter interviews. hope that helps

I was done by 4, my interview times were the same as yours. I think you'll be ok for the 2nd interview.. and I'd ask your prof if you can take the quiz early, just to be safe. My 2nd interview was 45 min later than scheduled because my interviewer had an emergency so i had to wait for someone else!

Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions!

My first interview lasted about 30 minutes. My interviewer was the head of the committee, so he was by the book. My 2nd interview ran past an hour because we kept talking about my research. Be prepared to kindly remind them that your next interview is right after this one they can plan accordingly.

I was done at 3pm.

My interviews were about 45min-1hr. I had back to back interviews in the morning. Even though I asked Caroline if there's a possibility of my first interview running into the second and she said what jpt369 told you, my first interview actually did run over into my second one. It was no big deal, really. My first interviewer actually asked me when my second one was and I said "now" so he told me to tell the next interviewer it was his fault 🙂 I'm sure they talk when reviewing your file anyway so that'll be cleared up. I e-mailed Caroline prior to interview day and she said that you can plan to make it out of there by 3pm. Hope this all helps. Good luck!

thanks for the answers everyone! i really appreciate it...i dont want to have to worry about all of these technicalities on interview day, i'll have plenty of other things to stress about 🙂
please let me know if you have anything else to add about your experience, every piece of advice helps, this is my first interview!

Check out some of the interview feedback. I left a pretty detailed one for 9/17.

both my interviews were pretty short. 20-30 min 😕 i wish they were longer, but eh. good luch gemstone!

Anyone received their acceptance packet yet?

Hehe, maybe they're getting ready for today/tomorrow when they make some more people very happy 😉

Hey FluShot, where'd you hear that they give out acceptances on Fridays? You're starting to make me anticipate Fridays a little more than usual 😛

I called TCOM the other day because i was getting anxious with all this talk about multiple pre-match days. And the lady I talked with said that there will be more pre matches and that they ARE somewhat based on when you interviewed. This is because the people who conduct the interviews have to submit their information back and that sometimes take a while. so that made me happy and gave me some hope 🙂

That makes sense because of the rolling admission.. and also It takes time to review apps and such. Hopefully those of us who interviewed later will here by mid december. Next week will be slow because of thanksgiving.

Yeah, this is basically the discussion as follows. Tomorrow, they'll probably release a few more prematches as they go along.

It seems as if my fate is not in the stars seeing as how early I interviewed and I haven't heard anything, but it's still early. No matter what happens now or Dec, I'm holding on to match day.

EDIT - I just wanted to add thanks to all of the brave folk for calling them during this busy time. I think I might crack tomorrow and ask them if early interviewers who didn't get a notice are SOL or have to wait until judgment day (Feb 1st), so I'll let ya'll know.

Don't worry, they specifically said they're not giving out many pre-matches this year. You totally have a chance. Hmm...I'm still curious as to where the whole Friday routine came from though. Sorry if you've already answered and I'm just being dense, but where did you hear they give out offers on Fridays?

Just got my acceptance letter today. Pretty nifty. Curious to note though, it appears Dr. Alan podawiltz is the new "acting dean." Whatever happend to Dr. Hahn?? I'm pretty sure i remember he was still dean when i interviewed.

skyliner, did you get your prematch offer last friday? and this acceptance letter is that packet they send in the mail? sorry, bunch of neurotic people here waiting to hear.... 😀

oh, and CONGRATS🙂

I got mine yesterday as well. I already signed on the dotted line and sent it back to them. Time to mentally prepare for July 20th!

Well, last Friday was prematch day, so by just speculation, I'm betting they review more apps and send them out each Friday until mid December. The 07-08 thread was indicative of this, including the end date in which they changed all online statuses to basically "Wait until match day". I might call them today since I just checked and saw nothing.

Thanks. Yeah i got my prematch offer last Friday. And yeah the acceptance letter is the packet they sent in the mail. All it is, is a letter and an agreement form with the standard if you fail courses they have the option to revoke you. I suppose more info will be sent gradually.

Here's hoping for more pre-match offers for you guys.

Question for you prematch people: did they call you last Friday too? I know a few people said they got a call in addition to the notice.

For those of you accepted, did you write a thank you letter/email to your interviewers following your interviews? I should probably get on it.

I did send thank you notes although I don't know if it makes a difference or not. I just think it is the appropriate and professional thing to do for any type of interview. When were your interviews?

I sent a letter to each of my interviewers and confirmed it got to them later. It didn't change my status, but I didn't think it would either. It's just something nice to do.

You guys are right. I sent thank you letters right after my San Antonio interview, but I had so much school work to catch up on after the TCOM interview (I missed a lab & several hours of lecture) that I forgot about it until now 😳 I'll go ahead and send them today, thanks for y'alls input.

Actually I didn't. It didn't occur to me until weeks later and by then I figured it was a bit late. I did get accepted though despite my lack of consideration! I do remember that I sent a thank you email to Caroline Gourley though.

Thanks! I'm glad they do this to make sure we're not dreaming 😉

And no news yet for me...anyone else? Mlc?

no news for me either... but from the looks of the thread i don't think there was news for anyone today... which i guess could be good?!

Yeah, I didn't get anything. I didn't bother to check the RoT thread though, so maybe there was some good news there. Most people who got accept to TCOM went back and forth to share the news though. I know I would 🙂

I looked at the TCOM thread last year just to get some info on what our process between now and July 20th would be, and everyone was talking about some kinda deal in December (I think it was Dec 15th last year) where the students that have been offered went up to the school and brought SO's and just kinda met everyone and they had a day set up for them. Anyone heard anything about this?

Do you mean like an open house? I know they did those, but not in December.

I wonder if they allow anyone to come or just people they have invited already. What would they do if they anticipated 600+ people?

Yeah, kinda like that. Last year they said it was only for those that had already received an acceptance. I know there's the spring fling sometime in April and that is the big one...there are reps there from financial aid and admissions as well as local apartment complexes, etc. That one of course is a much bigger deal since only a small percentage of the class even knows they are accepted right now.

Edit: So I just looked it up on last year's thread and it was called fall preview day...it was December 15th and they specified that it was only for accepted applicants. I was just curious to see if anyone had heard anything about it.

Oh that's cool. Yeah I must've missed that while looking over it.

Yeah, I wonder if they've already released notices for it. I hope someone from here goes so we can hear about it.

I knew about the April thing, but I didn't realize they did a thing for the prematch people. That's pretty awesome.

They just sent out the packets monday so they should be in sometime this week.

I was starting to wonder about that. Got the acceptance letter at the beginning of the month and have been watching the mail for anything since.

Sarg, I'm guessing you're OOS, right? They might be behind due to the IS prematch. You could always give them a call next week (I'm guessing a lot of them around going to be out this week).
