I've been accepted at Keck which I am so happy about. I'm from LA and I want to live there. My boyfriend is here too. I was recently offered an interview at USF for the SELECT program, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth going. I really can't imagine going there over USC, but it seems wrong to turn down the interview at such a unique/selective program, and what if I love it? Anyone have thoughts?

If you live in LA and want to stay here, your significant other is here (I'm going to assume you guys are serious, since he was worth mentioning), and you can't imagine attending over USC, it seems as though you might have answered your own question.

If you have the money, you can go and see how you feel about it. But ultimately, if you don't see yourself realistically attending, then don't bother. I don't know anything about the program, but it isn't wrong to turn it down if you've found a place that better aligns with your wants/long-term goals. Unless the program is so impressive that you would leave your family/friends/boyfriend/living preferences, consider it an honor that you got invited and move forward.

I interviewed at USF (for the CORE program, though I researched both before deciding), and I actually wasn't entirely convinced that SELECT would train you to be a better doctor. The opportunities in PA are nice, but I don't think it would benefit you any more than doing an away rotation at whatever med school you choose. All of that, in conjunction with wanting to stay in LA, indicates to me that it might be better to turn down the interview and save the travel expenses.
