I'm going to cautiously town-lean apop and katie for being willing to discuss the nature of the role PM update. While I usually don't feel any sort of way about talking about mech, I feel like this comes from a genuine place of wanting to understand the game setup, and presumably the mafia has some idea about the game setup by now.

I am not certain I believe that Jay had no reads, because that didn't seem how he felt last night. But I won't be voting him today regardless.

I like Jay's thoughts on there potentially being a wolf in the players commenting on the weird role cards and I do think it's likely the wolves have always known they are wolves, just maybe specifics of their role were a bit unclear (or...ambiguous!! :heckyeah: )

Also i think I am village leaning dubz, however I still haven't played appreciably with wolf dubz soooooo take that with a grain of salt

Idk did you get two things in your pm? I got a gif that I thought was related to role at first with no follow up but then got a bit more direction later lol

I might town read this post. It depends on what apoptosis does with it. I say this to encourage you, apoptosis, to proceed with any kind of follow-up so I can make that judgment. I have something in mind.
I started out with a blank role card, and when it got updated my response was "ok so the blank roles were probably town after all." I don't think I'd be thinking otherwise unless I got an alignment that suggested otherwise...

But I also don't see why wolf!jay would put that out there, unless to throw a red herring.

Idk i still feel like the wolves were aware that they were scum at the beginning, at least I see no reason to not operate under that assumption for the time being

Did he say this? If he did I’m missing it

That’s bold regardless of the timeframe you’re talking about.

Yeah…I actually thought I was a wolf to start for reasons but i have since discovered I am not

So who is to say if real wolves know if they’re wolves or not. By now they should at least
This may actually change my mind on the wolves knowing who they were N0 thing...hmmmm

It was this post
Clearly, this game presents an awkward beginning. I think most of us have experienced that in some form or another.

A plausible interpretation is that the only concrete information players received (apart perhaps from role abilities) is whether or not they're in a wolf chat. I've been operating under that assumption, because it's hard for me to see how the game is playable otherwise. I doubt it's entirely that simple, but it's a starting point. However, this comes with some implications:

- I'd imagine that [ambiguous role card] is not just a town phenomenon. That would stand too high a risk of breaking the game, and our host is a major veteran of the job. So the wolves likely have some analogous experience too, and thus some genuine confusion (even if they are already in a wolf chat).

Given the air of confusion in the thread then, I think the wolves would feel extra incentive to participate in that commentary. I extracted the quotes above entirely by searching for the words "start" (i.e., has the game actually started) and "role" (i.e., what is this role card). This is probably not exhaustive as a result, because the search will only catch so much.

I suspect there's an above-average wolf presence among these posts. I'm sure there are villagers too. Even two wolves would be "above average".

I agree with the latter part definitely; I think it's bold to assume for sure one way or the other

What are your thoughts so far, vampy? Any vibes?
unfortunately none whatsoever, i’m not used to this format (although entertaining).

i’m thinking based on role PMs being updated/further explained last night that wolves did not know their affiliation either? and only now has a wolf chat been created?

I don't know how we can assume or know one way or another whether wolves knew they were wolves before the role PM updates so I don't know if all the speculation on it is going to be helpful. I'd err on the side of Jay's plan of treating the game as new post-PM updates

Which means we need to get down to business
