Anyone else scheduled for 9/19 interview? I've emailed the office and I'm kind of curious about whether or not the interview is still going to take place.
 
I think a couple of us here on SDN are. But from speaking with some of my friends from Houston, the city looks to be in pretty bad shape. If anyone gets any information soon, please share it.
 
I live across the street from the medical center. It has power but everywhere around it doesn't at the moment. Grocery stores have started to open but shelves are basically empty. Gas stations have been open but are out of gas. Most other places are closed.
 
It seems like Baylor interviews for this week are rescheduled.
 
What does this message mean??

"Your application is complete and has been reviewed by the committee.
We will let you know something as soon as we are able.

Baylor College of Medicine interviews from September through February.
You are eligible for interview consideration through February.
Records are updated every 24 hours."

Eligible for interview consideration, but not yet invited for interview??

When were you complete? I was complete on 8/16 and have had the "will be going to committee for review in the near future" message for over a month!

I submitted my supplemental application on 7/12...and still no word. I hope I atleast get an invite.

I was complete on 8/1. I was under review until 9/8. And I've had the reviewed message since then. I'm guessing it takes over a month for the adcom to review your app.

Is it OK to call the admissions office? I know there are still some areas in town without power from the hurricane. I want to be very sensitive to the situation in Houston and am wondering if its appropriate to call about my application status - nothing has changed for a couple months on it (just showing as "submitted") and wanted to make sure they got letters, etc.

I don't mind waiting, just wondering.

I got changed to 'complete' and under review sometime during the last week
 
To those who have already interviewed: Any advice? What was it like? I've checked the Interview Feedback thread, but there aren't many recent replies

Haha Shemarty..that's not surprising! You're probably the most recognizable member from this cycle, by far. 😀😀 Fame is an inevitable result from posting most of the secondary prompts that (I'm sure) everyone has used at one point or another!😀😛

if yall had sandwiches, i'm guessing they didn't run out of bread this time. i totally felt like i was pulling the atkins with only cold cuts and cheese for dinner when i interviewed there haha. 😎
 
^We had bread. Lots of bread. I think there was bread left over, actually. Good food at the interview day. I think it's up there for "best interview day food".

Hey shemarty, were you the girl that got the interviewers who shared your interests exactly? Did you ask Faith if they matched you on purpose?

Who are you? What did you say your favorite food was? (I was the frozen yogurt + shaved chocolate + granola girl sitting in the way back)

I PM'd Jolie South that morning, but we never crossed paths that day.

yea, sorry. i had a major headache and went home after histo. our TA spent the entire time on neuro and i'd just about had it. 👎

Yeah, I was the girl who said "chocolate cake" and then instantly regretted it because there are about 50 million better choices -- but I was the second person to have to say her favorite food so I didn't have enough time to think! I was wearing a red sweater (in defiance of the blazer-code 😉)

I love how that guy in the back said "blueberries, which is why I'm dressed like one."

Light blue striped blazer, khaki colored slacks, and cowboy boots. 👍
 
have any of you checked the status page post-interview? mine says, 'your application has already been reviewed and is currently being processed.'

Mine says that as well (I interviewed on 9/5). I'm guessing it means they've made their decision and are just waiting until the 15th to tell you what it is. Yes, I'm being very impatient about this. I'm also curious to see what the status page says for others who've already interviewed.
 
I just got an email from Baylor with the subject "Your recent application to Baylor College of Medicine." This doesn't sound good, so I'm thinking "omg rejection!!" I open it, and it turns out it's a rejection from a job I applied for 2 years ago... umm wtf? I almost had a heart attack!

Haha...that doesn't sound like fun.

I just called up Baylor asking about the status of my app and she said to just wait. I guess there's really nothing we can do.

Yeah, that takes some serious guts. My immediate reaction was "please admit him on the spot." I really hope I get a guy like that in my medical school class. Everyone seems so *serious* on interview day...I like the people who lighten the mood a bit 😀.

Just so you guys know, I have several friends who attend Baylor and all of them have told me that the acceptances go out in *very* small batches over a long period of time. If you don't hear anything on October 15, don't freak out. 🙂

I asked on interview day, and they gave me "25" as a ballpark figure of the # of people who would be accepted on Oct 16th.

So yea, very small batches....

Yeah, it really sucks to wait on the news, meh. On the bright side, they've only had a few interview dates so far, so perhaps we will get lucky. 🙂

I entirely agree! But I'm reaching the end of my pre-October 15th cycle and don't have many coming up after then...I think we need a new wave of interview invitations! 👍

That'd be ideal.

this is very true. i know many people in my class that interviewed in the fall and didn't hear anything until spring.

i had a pretty quick turnaround and got accepted about 2 months after my interview.

I'll be there, somehow... I'm flying there directly after my interview at the El Paso med school, so it'll be straight from one end of the state to the other, plus the time zone change means I'll be getting in to Hobby a little after 10. Fun, fun 🙂
 
what is the difference between "under review" and "reviewed" on the above stats? does your status change after "you are currently being reviewed we will let you know something as soon as we are able"?

Yes. It becomes something like "your application HAS BEEN reviewed." We will let you know something asap.
 
does anyone know if there is a way to have update letters added to your file BEFORE interviews?
