does any previous applicant of drexel know if that silence for two/more months after completion mean hold or rejection-to-come. anyone with an interview invite after a long period of silence?
this is kind of annoying because when i called the admissions office they say they have no idea. if they don't, how are we supposed to know what's up!

yea me too... I really like this school and I'd just like to know one way or another...has anyone called with any success?

bluesmd, i am right there with you ! they told me the same thing when i called "that a decision hasn't been reached" . sigh. i have been complete since august 13th or so..

ps, i think we have applied to all the same schools 🙂 since we write on all the same threads

haha yeah, i haven't gotten around to making an mdapps ! i actually haven't gotten any interviews yet 🙂xf🙂 but i am in an SMP so i am hoping they are just waiting for my semester grades .. we'll see though ! good luck with drexel and congrats on rush !
 
Anyone else interview early in Oct. and their status page still says "Your interview has been scheduled?" I interviewed Oct. 6, and still haven't heard anything. I thought I'd give them the full 8 weeks before calling, but it is Thanksgiving so I doubt my status page will change before the deadline. Sigh...I just want to know either way...
 
I just had my interview this week and although my student interview went really well, my faculty interview was fairly short. He asked a few questions about the things I did, who my role model was besides my parents, then asked me if I had questions. He kept saying: "what else?" and after 4-5 questions, I couldn't come up with anymore so it ended like that. Did anyone else have a short interview and still got accepted? I felt like he wasn't interested in me at all 🙁

My interview was ridiculously short. I was in and out in time to catch the next shuttle back to campus. It still worked out.
 
waiting is not fun. stillll "in review" with "no decision." compulsively check their website. no clue why i do that on a sunday nite...

My student interviewer gave me her email address, so I sent her a quick thank you email when I got home. As for my faculty interviewer, I looked up his information online and mailed him a thank you note. I imagine that if you could send thank you emails/notes to your interviewers through the admissions office ... if you are unsure about it, give the admissions office a call.
 
Just recieved a interview today, i was complete in mid august, and i was initially placed on a pre-interview hold, so for all of you out there still waiting dont give up hope. Also i didnt recieve a email to schedule my interview i just randomly checked my status page today and saw a link to schedule an interview, did this happen to anyone else? Also in the email they sent to me afterwards to confirm my date, they stated they had already provided me with all the needed information about drexel? but i never got that email.....

this happened to me as well, and you will get an email within a couple days officially inviting you and giving you needed info. good luck

Same thing happened to me last month. My status page changed 1-2 days before I received the email invitation, so I also suggest that you give it a few days. Congrats on the interview DarkKnight!
 
i took the 8/26 mcat so was complete about 10/1. i think i got an interview invite about 2 weeks later. my interview status showed up on the status page 1 week before i got the email.
 
My status just changed to "Your file is currently under review by a member of the admissions committee and will be sent to committee shortly. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel University." How long has it taken for them to make a decision on the application once it's under review for you all who've had interviews? (mine was two weeks ago)
 
I also just saw the same message and interviewed about 1 1/2 weeks ago
 
Hi - Here is my timeline -hopefully it will be helpful to someone!

Interview - 10/10

Status change to "your file is currently under review, no decision has been made" - 10/22

Status change to "decision has been made, check your permanent address" - 10/27

Acceptance letter via snail mail - 11/8

I've been lingering around here since I interviewed back in october...I"m not sure if i'm being neurotic, but I'm almost positive that my status changed from "Your file is currently under review by a member of the admissions committee and will be sent to committee shortly. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel of University." TO

"Your file is currently under review by the admissions committee. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel of University."

I don't have any idea when that slight change occured, but I definitely think it's a slightly different message...anyone notice this?
 
I think that one adcom member does a preliminary review before it goes to commitee (thats what they told us at the interview day anyway) so you are probably going before the full commitee now.

Yep, your status changed. Your first message said your file was being reviewed by an ADCOM member and would soon be sent to committee. Now your file's reached the committee phase.

I interviewed on 10/16 and my status page still says "Interview is scheduled". Many people who have interviewed around the same time as me have heard a while ago. Is this abnormal? Should my app have gone to committee already?

congrats on the interview ! when you were on pre-interview hold, were you explicitly told this ? or did you just kind of assume ?
 
Hey im interviewing on January 28th, i wanted to schedule it earlier but the other dates of december 5th and december 8th conflicted with my finals.

To respond to the other post, yeh on my status page it said something like we have reviewed your file and have been unable to come to a decision your file will be re-reviewed later on during the application cycle. I had this message for about 6 or 7 weeks before i finally got the interview offer.
 
So I interviewed 10/8, and my status still says the "your interview has been scheduled...please wait 6-8 weeks". When should I call the office about a decision being reached? Is it normal to take this long? I'm just starting to get neurotic...they don't silent reject/waitlist after an interview right?

I think the time for review varies so maybe other interviewees can help you out there ... it's been 8 weeks since your interview, so I think you are free to call the admissions office and ask what's up with your file.
 
Just wanted to say that Drexel is seriously underrated. I loved this school. Very pleasant surprise.👍

The only issue I had with Drexel was that it felt like nobody was trying to sell the school all that hard until I went to the talk about the PIL program. That took me from "this a nice place and I could do this" to "I really like this school, and all the other things just fell into place because of this."

The PIL program tries hard to sell itself because a lot of students shy away from it. It's a very unfamiliar approach to learning for people who are used to the traditional lecture style, and quite a number of people ultimately pass on it because they want to "stick with what they're used to."

It's a tough sell because everyone knows medical school is hard. People are already worried about being able to keep up, and they may not be willing to risk not fitting in well with a unique teaching method.

But for those students who thrive in a small group setting, the program is amazing. I'm in IFM, but I've heard nothing but good things from those folks who went the alternate route. All the data shows that students from both curricula are successful, and both do well on the boards.

Glad to hear you found something that sold you.
 
for all those interested: I just canceled my interview for Dec. 9th. so i would imagine that it has freed up for someone else to schedule..good luck

oh dear lord! a decision has been reached! I realize what i'm about to ask is a weird question, but does anyone know if outright rejections are common this early in the year? From what i can tell, not too many people have been accepted by DCOM yet. Thoughts?

Also, how long did it take you luck acceptees to get your letter??? Thanks!

Thank you for your application. Your file has been reviewed and will be re-evaluated later in the season for a final decision.

I know it sucks, but just be glad that you've been reviewed. I, too, was complete in August, yet I still have the crap message "No decision currently available." To be honest, I'm actually kind of rooting for this message to remain for as long as possible, so then when I call later in the cycle I can comment on the fact that it hasn't changed since September of last year, even though this is my reapp.

whattttt!!?!? that blows i'm sorry. i don't understand how come some people find out really fast. so you were never rejected? so drexel doesn't reject people?

I got a letter in August stating that I was being removed from the applicant pool (duh!?!?), but my status never actually changed, and since I was in the reapp process, I still had access to it. Also, after submitting my primary, I emailed them at one point to determine whether I had received a secondary and what my ID was, just to be told that they had already sent it to me (which I never received it), and then got it two days later. So something tells me either they are way understaffed for the amount of applications they get, or just don't want to waste the time to at least be civil to the applicants that haven't heard anything in months.

I was complete in early August and just got that message today too. Sucks for us.
