A decision has been made and will be mailed. I wish they would just use email.
I was complete in early august, and no decision has been made yet. I'm thinking of sending an update. Does anyone know if I should e-mail them or send it by snailmail?
Either one would be fine. If it were me, I'd send an email to Dr. Hanau, the Dean of Admissions.
Hey, so how is the financial aid situation like at drexel? i saw on their website that they had some scholarships and work study programs, but since i'm not a student officially i can't see them.
the cost of tuition is worrying me haha
Isn't their average indebtedness somewhere around $200,000? I remember that it was one of the highest I had seen...
yeah.. i plan on applying for as many scholarships as i am eligible for to help ease the hurt of paying that much money. also from your past experiences, how hard is it to be a work study and go full time at med school?

From what I've heard from other student advisors and admissions counselors, working while in med school is usually frowned upon due to the work load of med school.
Hi, i just got offered an interview (for 11/18) via my status page. Will I also receive any info from Drexel about where to stay/directions etc? Any suggestions for you all? Thanks! 🙂
Wow, your interview is sooner than mine!
I got my interview via status page as well. The appointment confirmation email said "We have tried to provide you with all you need to know about our campus, getting here, and staying in Philadelphia." I'll explore the website later; maybe it was in the invite email that I/we never got.
So I'm scheduled to interview on december 9th (yay! 😀), and am wondering if anyone has heard what type of essay they expect us to write?? I hope it's just something similar to the standard secondary essay, since their secondary didn't have one...![]()
I know you can't see them without a username and password, but there are around 150 scholarships that Drexel has available to med students. Obviously, you won't be eligible for all of them, but there are plenty of opportunities.
There are also plenty of work-study positions available both at the Drexel main campus, as well as at the Center City Hahnemann and Queen Lane campuses.
Yeah I wouldn't really rely on these: you're automatically disqualified from these if your household makes a certain amount of money and/or you're not already in $20,000 of debt or greater.
Unless you have a rich family, be prepared to be sunk $250k.
Amen to that. I just didn't want to make any assumptions about the OPs financial situation.
mine was: "as a physician you will have to break some rules, tell us about a time when you broke a rule, how did people view you after you broke it, why did you break it and was the outcome" or something along those lines. They might switch it
When I applied, I never received any information about the school or the area prior to my interview day, so don't be surprised if you don't either. There's not much you need to know, though. Just get there on time and have fun.
If you have any questions about Drexel, the area, hotels, etc. feel free to ask.
I also have an interview at Drexel Nov 19 which I found on the status page a couple days ago but I didn't get an e-mail about it. (For those who care, I was complete sometime late September and I'm OOS). I called the admissions office to get some info about how to get there, which room to go to, etc. but she just said the information e-mail should arrive soon, so she was entirely unhelpful.
My question is, what's the best way to get between the airport and the campus? How much time should I allot? I need to make my flight arrangements and get the day off work asap. Thanks!
Personally, I would take the R1 train into the city (or you can cab it for about $30 flat rate) and then depending where you need to go you could take a cab or another train.
So if the interview day ended at 3, could I make a flight at 6:00 out of PHL??

I'm not very familar with the Drexel campus/interview location. If it's in east falls you will have a longer trip than if it is in the city where you can just hope right off/on the R1.

I ended up emailing Kelli Kennedy in the Admissions office and she sent me an interview brochure. Have you gotten any suggestions on where to stay?

does anyone have dr. hanau's email address. thanks
I'm in!
I've called the drexel admissions office a few times and they always tell me the same thing... I'm complete and they are still looking at my file... is this a nice way of saying they are not interested? Has anyone had the same result but received an interview? I've been complete for about 2 months now. OOS 29M 3.69 BCMP I know I don't have stellar stats

just got an interview invite from them! OOS, 29L (and 28M, 25L 🙁, 3.85 GPA, and very non-traditional applicant. was complete for about a month. if i had a chance, you could too!
Where is a good place to stay that offers both easy access to the med school and to fun-ish stuff to do the evening of and day after my interview?
It depends on what you mean by fun. Movies? Bars?
If you stay downtown there's plenty to do and you can take the R8 train to Queen Lane. There are a couple of hotels on City Ave., which would be closer, but there's less to do and it's more suburban.
I guess "fun" means an interesting area to walk around and maybe see some historic stuff or something. Also, how do I get to the cheesesteak place?
jim's steaks on south st and 4th definitely has the better cheese steaks. Genos is such a poser.
I'm decling my interview slot at drexel, who wants it?? Bidding starts at $100.

Sooo...after learning that Drexel notifies people of their status via the "status" page, I logged in for the first time today.
Turns out I'm not complete yet. The status page states that they never received my secondary nor my payment. This is surprising as the homepage states that the secondary was finalized and submitted on 8/7/08 and that the payment was received on 8/7/08 as well (I even have an email copy of the payment receipt).
Did I do something wrong? (Is there another button to press?) Or is Drexel's computer system glitching?
🙁
