I submitted all of my material for Loyola about a week and a half ago, but I haven't gotten a confirmational e-mail. I called today to check my status though, and the woman said that they have my letters and my secondary on file. Does this mean I cam believe her?? Or should I e-mail them just to confirm...

Yes, you should believe her. It takes up to a few weeks+ to get the complete e-mail. Don't worry! I haven't got mine yet and I'm at 2 weeks now.

Just got the complete e-mail from Loyola. Interview invite is next! Whoop whoop.

I did same thing as you. I guess the email just takes a while to send out?

I also am just complete and I submitted the Secondary within the day I got it.

Yikes, so...apparently when I have deadlines on things I wait until the last minute. Because of this Stritch is one of the last I have to complete. I was just finishing up tonight when I realized that, if I'm reading it correctly, they want to RECEIVE the application by the deadline. Is this correct? My deadline is Friday and there's no way it will get there by then if I mail it tomorrow!!! I'm freaking out!

You can send it express mail. It's guaranteed overnight delivery. Good luck!

Does anybody know if there's a way to get an extension on the secondary after the deadline passed? I've had such a crazy month and I was planning on withdrawing from Loyola, but then I realized today that I had already paid the $70 fee. Unfortunately my due date was 9/12. Loyola isn't one of my top choices so I wouldn't be upset if I wasn't able to apply, I just don't want to lose my $70.

The same thing just happened to me. I was busy with other secondaries and didn't realize this one had a due date. Mine was 9/12 as well. Luckily I didnt pay the $70 yet. I just found out by reading this thread that the due date was one month from the email.

If you talk to them, let me know if they'll grant you an extension. I'm bummed I didn't realize this earlier!🙁

I wouldn't worry too much about the deadline. When I called they said they give people a 2 week grace period (unless she was lying to me). Hope that helps. Good luck everyone.

Yep, that's what they told me too. So you're probably just fine.

*sigh* i'm on a pre-interview hold at loyola right now. They said they would look at my application again in 2-3 months. Anyone else in the same boat as me?

I turned my secondary in online and next delivered the appropriate forms on 9/3 and I still haven't gotten an e-mail saying that I was complete...ideas?

You know you can't turn the secondary in online, you still have to mail it in, right? If so, I would call, that's a long time.

I sent my forms in on the 2nd and haven't heard anything. Maybe they are still sorting through everything?

i'm still waiting to be complete too....but if i recall correctly, they say to give them at least 3 weeks from your due date to notify you.

Think its worth giving Loyola a shot if you don't have a letter from an advisor? I mean I have the faculty, plus a MD and research letter so I think I have a good packet. Does anyone know if the advisor letter is critical to your file?

*So if we don't have an advisor should we just leave it blank, or write "N/A" or "no advisor"?

*Ah I see it says if your school has advisors and you didn't use one you must explain why

Geez, I had a call from an unknown number in Illinois and I just about had a heart attack thinking it was Loyola calling to offer me an interview. Turns out it was a wrong number.. it probably WAS Loyola and they just mis-dialed. Figures.

I wish this process would move along a little more quickly!

Shoot, that sucks! Hopefully they will dial you again soon!

I got an interivew from loyola recently and I may not meet their LOR requirements. I scheduled it, but I'm not sure if I should call to double check on my LORs...

I got my complete email today. Do they call if they want to invite us for interviews?

I had a missed call, voicemail, and an email so they definitely do what it takes to get a hold of you.

I thought Loyola was reviewing people really fast...I've been complete for over a month. Is that weird? Or do you think things have slowed down now that it's later in the process.

call them, they said in the email they will tell you within three weeks of sending you the complete email

I got put on hold too.... 34R, decent GPA, and Loyola undergrad.

When were you guys complete? Did you receive emails notifying you of completion?

Yeah, they just told me that I've been reviewed already (I was complete on 9/2 by the way) and I didn't get an interview and they'll review me again in 4 to 6 weeks.

i didn't get an email. i called today to check the status and they said i was complete. my due date was oct 4 and i mailed it in about 10 days ago.

Looks like I am in the same boat as you

just for clarification, I believe calling them to find out you are complete, and receiving the "complete" email are two separate distinctions. This is because I called them about three weeks ago about my app. and was told at that time that I was "complete". However, this week I just received the complete email which states that my app. is now under review and I will be notified of an invite within three weeks. So I think that the email signifies that your app. is actually under review and complete....not just complete. So if you just called them, give it some time.

got the secondary! FiNaLLy... only took 5 weeks =D

I am curious about this. Does Loyola pre-screen their secondaries?

If they do, i received Loyola's secondary application on the 25th of Sept. And then, I immediately sent it on monday. I received a majority of my secondaries between Aug 21-Sept 5. Is this a good sign?😕

I got their completion email just today🙂.

" Dear Applicant:

Your file is complete and under review with our Committee on Admissions. If you have indicated that you will be taking or have taken a recent MCAT, your file will be formally reviewed by the Committee on Admissions once the new scores are received in our office.

If the Committee grants you an interview, we will contact you by phone/email. If you do not hear from us within three weeks of this email, please contact our office any Thursday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time) to check your status.

Thank you,
Loyola-Stritch School of Medicine Admissions Office"

Yes. I took the Aug 15th MCAT. So I may have to wait till they officially get the scores.

Could someone clear up Loyola's rec letter requirements?

"If your school has a system for premedical advising and evaluation and you do not submit material through this system, you must explain your reasons for not doing so."

Does this mean that if your school has advisors available and you didn't use them (thus didn't get a letter from them) you must explain why?

yes they do prescreen. but i wouldn't worry too much about when you got your secondary. from what i've heard and looking at other posts in the thread, they send their secondaries in batches. so as long as you sent it in before the deadline, you're good. you should only worry when after you get the complete email, you don't get a phone call from them within three weeks.

why 3 weeks? do they give interviews that quickly?

It seems like they make a decision to offer an interview or to place a hold within 3 weeks of the complete email. For me it was two weeks between each step (secondary submitted -> complete email -> interview invite).

OH NO! I just realized my app is due 10/5! I am just finishing it and 10/7 would be the earliest they could recieve it. Do you think this is a problem??

i think that their deadline is more of a guideline according to the person i spoke to on the phone. but you should just call them anyways and ask.

I emailed the admissions office and was given a 2 week extension. That's what I suggest you do.

When I spoke to them a while ago she said there is a "2 week grace period". In which case, it applies to everyone and you don't need to be granted one specifically. But I would still call and check if I were you 🙄

Loyola is awesome for scheduling saturday interviews. And, I just looked at their match rates and they are very impressive! Loyola is looking better everyday..

Yea i thought that was pretty nice of them too. Only downfall is the campus is kinda dead. Not really very many students around. You'll be able to talk with some at lunch, and during your tour And there might be one or two walking around or something, but thats it. And loyola seems to give a lot of free time during interview day to walk around, visit classes, see professors, etc. etc. but thats really not an option on a saturday. Just some things to think about if you want to get the "full" experience of an interview day.

Overall I still had a good time, altho i felt they could have organized their day better, and it is pretty awesome they have interviews on Saturdays for the convenience of the applicants.

Just got an interview invite from Loyola today, which I'm totally psyched about. When I scheduled my interview, the lady at the Admissions office said they were contacting a bunch of people for invites today; hopefully, others in SDN land will get some good news, too.
