I think UCSD and UCSF hate me. I haven't yet been approved for a secondary by either yet, and I was complete 7/10 (33/3.75).

I'm in the same boat. And I thought UCI was the most realistic for me...
 
i just walked by our lecture hall and saw they were having an adcom meeting right now. hope it works out for sdn'ers! 🙂

i got an interview last yr, does neone know the likelihood of the skool giving interviews to those who they interviewed last year?

I'm so freaking jealous. I don't have a single interview invite, yet 🙁
 
interview invite! though they gave me a day when I have another interview, hopefully they'll understand.

Does anyone know an easy/cheap way to get from LA to Irvine? I'm thinking about grouping the interviews (even though I already have my plane ticket booked)
 
Just drive down here from norcal... It only takes a few hours and is cheaper than a plane since public transportation is nonexistent in socal.

If you refuse to do this, I have no idea how you will get around as we dont have trains/busses that run on any sort of reliable schedule. We all have cars.
 
Honestly, you should drive. As chessknt87 mentioned, public transportation isn't a realistic option. If you must use public transportation, there's a train from LA to Irvine that you can catch at Union Station.

Woooo interview invite!!! Lame that they only hold 2 sessions a month though. I asked because I have another interview scheduled on the only date that was offered on the website. I think I'm gonna end up flying to socal two weekends in a row. Don't have a car though, so I don't know how realistic driving would be for me.
 
so, if i havent received UCI's secondary yet, is it pretty much a lost cause? i got all the other UCs, but not getting this one is kind of a bummer....
 
I got UCI's secondary first, like 2 weeks after my amcas app was certified. still havent seen a secondary from any other UC, and none of them gave me an invite last year, so i dont really expect one this year.

I'm planning on biking either from or to my interview.

If it makes you feel better, although i've received a secondary from uci, I'm yet to hear from ucsd.

And I havent heard from UCLA......The UCs are weird.

Hm...my application was completed on 8/28/08 (I submitted the application early but did not expect that I have to "mail" in my check :-( ). No news yet. I hope I will hear something this week. Good luck everyone.
 
I'm on about the same timeline as you are kire1820, I hope to hear this week as well.

UCSD just told me that I was not offered a secondary after initial review of my application (I emailed them). 33/3.75/IS w/ uptrend to 3.9/3.9 since I entered my University and I wasn't even good enough for a secondary.

This whole process is very discouraging 🙁

Well, hopefully UCI will given me the acceptance and I can forget about all this other boloney 😀

Hey, don't worry. From what I hear, applying is a stats game. Keep your head up, you'll be fine.
 
UCI likes to tease you by having all the links to the secondaries, interviews, etc on the side panel and then when you click on a link, it says at the top "secondary denied" and the page says "you have not yet been awarded a secondary (interview) at this time." 😛

So, if you've been declined a secondary, it actually says that when you log-in?

Eh, but whats the use now, I feel like even if still do get a secondary (highly unlikely), it's too late anyways.....

totally feeling the application blues today =(

No, I'm just talking about clicking the links that are on the side when you log in. They just have the links available and I clicked on them just to get an idea of what is on the secondary and that message came up, but I don't think it has anything to do with their decision. My status still says "pending review".

So i just checked my status at UCI says interview denied. I take that as a rejection? Never got an email or anything. Sigh.. need some more CA love :/

I didn't realize that UCI sent around rejections so early. I thought they would just hold on to you. Must mean they really don't like me.

Wonder if i can appeal?

You know...maybe you're right. Give them a call tomorrow. Your app looks great! It doesn't make that much sense.

They liked you enough to send you a secondary, and i know plenty of people who were rejected from UCI pre secondary. For whatever reason, it didnt work out in the end, but i wouldnt take it personal! Hell, I havent even gotten a secondary from UCLA and they have had my primary since june! But its wahtever, i just move on to the next school cuz i konw someone will like me enough to let me visit... thats why the average applicant applies to 15 or so schools or wahtever it is. Youll get some love somewhere 🙂

I guess they don't mess around. I'm just counting the days before I get to add my name to the thread of rejection!

That's scary... you've got great stats! This whole process is so infuriating, honestly. Looking at numbers/invites its a total crap shoot.
