most likely. i'm probably in the same boat. did your online status change too?

no - my status hasn't changed yet. The lady wouldn't tell me if I am rejected or not - she told me that the letter will be mailed out tomorrow which means i am not going to get it until next week. So, i wanted to know if anyone knew about this. I am pretty sure I am rejected.

Why does the CBC email take longer now than it did before? Earlier posts showed status change + 1 Day= email. I'm getting nervous. Its going to take a while to get a package (if I am even gonna get one) so I'm just going based on this email.....

Dude, relax. Just kick back and wait for things to come. If you got the status change, you'll get the acceptance package in 5-7 days.

Big envelope came today!

Secondary Complete: Late August
Interview Letter Date: 11/10/08
Interview Date: 01/14/09
Final Decision: 01/26/09 (online status change)
Big Envelope: 01/30/09

Aaaaand now I wait for site placement...

Congrats, Josh and Rocketman!

And now another set of waiting begins...

Hey, those of you who gave a reason for preferring one site over another.. where did you write your reason? Did you attach a note or write on the back of the card?

Thanks and congratulations!

I wouldn't do either. Submit the card as is with your preferences listed. They aren't going to take any other information into account right now. After May 15th, they'll read the appeal letter (which you'll write if you didn't get your top choice) and make decisions based on merit.

Congratulations to any and all accepted people! Anybody interviewing March 11th? I got the invite in Dec. but that was the earliest date I could get!

I feel the same way. I participated in their verbal reasoning program, MCAT program, and went to their open house. I've been complete since Oct. 24th and no word yet! How long have you been complete?

Oct. 24th is not late, but certainly not early to be complete. I'm not saying this will necessarily hurt your chances, but they might just have a huge pile of apps to sift through before offering more invites now whereas earlier in the cycle it was probably like they had a few dozen come in at a time and could easily pick out their favorites. I was complete 7/14 (although the lady insisted I was complete 8/14) and I didn't get an invite until 10/24. That's over 3 months!

Hey zipmedic, thanks for always answering our questions. I was just wondering if you had any idea as to how many people get their petition to transfer to Chicago granted? Do you know many people in your class that were able to switch campuses? Thanks.

Not sure; I know of at least two people. There are probably more. It's based on merit, not so much a specific number.

Does UIC accept updates/additional correspondence? I am thinking about writing a LOI. And if UIC does, where should I send the letter? to the dean of admissions or jsut the normal admissions address?

thanks for your help

Sure, they accept updates. I doubt a mere letter of intent is going to do anything if you're post-interview. Pre-interview, well, it couldn't hurt. Address it to the Committee on Admissions.

So....., I called the admissions office today and they told me that I'm still in line to be screened for an interview. It's been exactly 15 weeks since I was complete. Did they get that many app's this year? I got an interview invite from Southern Illinois (still waiting on results) less than 48 hours after I was complete, and I have an acceptance from a public out of state school, so I think I'm pretty competitive. I'm an Illinois resident and I'm wondering why the Chicago schools seem to show me no love? Is anyone else in a similar situation?

I'm also in a similar situation. I have an acceptance from UIC even though I'm not an IL resident, and I still haven't been accepted in my state's school. I know that's not what you meant by similar situation, I just wanted to vent with you 🙂

Congrats on your acceptance to UIC! This whole process is soooo nerve racking! I'm definitely grateful for an acceptance because I don't know if I could go through this again! When did you submit the AMCAS app and when were you complete?

AMCAS was submitted in late June, and I was complete at UIC in early July. I didn't interview until November 10.

i've been complete since mid-may, and my status still says applicant in process...any ideas?

If you've been following this thread, you know that UIC has gotten a few more applications this year; nothing dramatic, but the quality of the applicants has gone significantly up. Thus, they're being more deliberate with who they interview and even more deliberate with acceptance offers. I know the waiting is painful, but hang in there; there's nothing to do at this stage but wait.

Yea, I understand that, it's just weird because my buddy any i were complete at the same time, and his status changed and was unfortunately rejected two months ago.

Why is that weird? If you didn't have identical applications, the school is going to interview some, reject some. Bummer for your buddy, but you're still in the game.

I guess i thought it was weird because i figured that they looked at his already but hadn't looked at mine even though we applied at the same time. But from what you're saying is that they have already looked over mine and haven't made a decision?

How were you complete by mid-May? I thought AMCAS didn't open up until June 1st? At any rate, at least they've looked at your application. Mine is still sitting in some pile and who knows when they will get to it. By the time they review me, I'll probably be somewhere else. Too bad, I really wanted to stay in the city.

good call, i meant August.

When did your status change to "applicant in process"? Mine still says "application in process."

haha i didn't even know there was a difference, I think it's been like this since November

Yep. It means it's been looked at by the committee and they've deferred deciding whether to offer you an interview. They look at every such application again at each month's meeting, so rest assured you're still getting considered.

Supposedly "applicant in process" indicates that they have reviewed your application, while "application in process" means they have not looked at it yet. Have you spoken with an admissions counselor? That seems like an awful long time "to look" at someone. It also seems excessive that it takes 4 months and counting to even "review" an applicant. As I mentioned in a previous post, Southern took less than 48 hours to extend me an interview invite. I realize that UIC gets many more applicants, but it just seems that they run a little on the slow side.

Unless your application was complete on January 10th, I'm sure you've been seen.

I spoke with the office a few days ago and they indicated that I have not been reviewed and I was complete on Oct. 24th. I have never had a status change to "applicant in process" and I check my status page every Wed. and Fri.

Yeah, that's a pretty late complete date. If what they said is true, the committee should get to you this month or next.

At this point, I feel like I have a very slim chance at an acceptance, even if I get an interview. An admissions counselor told me that they were going to be interviewing throughout May and possibly into June. However, I have already been accepted to another school and their pre-matric starts mid June. Chicago is my first choice because my husband is not able to transfer to another state and we live in the city (Chicago). All of my secondaries were late because I was in the MCAT program at UIC over the summer, so I didn't take the MCAT until Sept. Does the committe only meet once a month? If so, do you know when?

They meet monthly; usually the third Thursday, barring any holidays. Where is your other acceptance?

Ohio. I'm still waiting to hear from Southern Illinois (interviewed Jan.8th). I applied to most of the Illinois schools (minus Northwestern and U of C) and I haven't gotten a response from anyone expect Southern. However, I wasn't complete at Rosalind Franklin and Loyola until mid Dec. I was complete at Rush 11/7. I did receive an e-mail from Loyola indicating that they are reviewing my application. I didn't think it would take UIC so long to review my app. I guess my late submission really hurt me!

i was complete in early october, and all i have gotten so far is a switch from "application" to "applicant" and then back to "application" (a couple weeks ago). what ive figured is that they are still offering interviews, and must, at the very least, be offering wait list spots. so good luck and i hope to see you during the next stage of interviews.😉

UIC does not offer waitlist spots until at least May or June. For now, anyone not offered an interview is either interviewed, declined, or continued (re-review). After interviews, everyone is either admitted directly or continued. Those continued into May/June will be ranked when they form the waitlist.

I see on your profile that you interviewed at Southern. I interviewed on Jan. 8th, but haven't heard anything yet. How about you? Your stats are pretty impressive, so I don't think you'll have a problem getting an interview at UIC. Hopefully, at the next meeting they give us a shot to interview. Good luck!

Actually, i only interviewed at SIU about 10 days ago, so i haven't heard anything from them yet. Evan told us that we would not get our final decisions until early March, but I also think he said something about an AdCom meeting this past week - which leads me to believe you'll be getting some mail from them this week. On another note, thanks for the vote of confidence regarding my prospects at UIC.

I'm in the same situation as you are. I am an IL resident complete for a looooong time and have interviewed at SIU and a couple out of state schools (Penn State and UT-SA). Come on Chicago get a move on.

is anyone else having trouble with the status page? I'm getting a page load error message saying it has an invalid security certificate or something. I just want to see my "applicant in process"....

Yes I had that same problem, I don't know what it's about.

Also, for future reference, I received my packet in the mail before I got the CBC email.
