How did your interview go? What site was it at?

In total, how long was the interview? Interview feedback has some people saying 30 min, others saying 40 min, some 45 min. Just wondering what your experience with it was...

Hope it went well for you!

I was at the Chicago site. I will fill out the feedback soon, but I'll say some stuff briefly.

Three 1on1 interviews as you know. My first interview went about 45minutes, 2nd one went maybe 30 and the 3rd was about 30 minutes as well.

You are placed in a group of 3 other interviewees and you guys have the same interviewers. You are then placed in blocks within your respective groups and you are allotted 30 minutes with each interviewer. Since there are only 3 interviewers and 4 interviewees, you get one block where it's your break. However, as you can imagine, they won't cut the interview short cause 30 minutes is up so there is some downtime and getting behind schedule.

I was the afternoon session and we started pretty much on time and didn't end too much later than 4:30. It went overall smoothly.

Hope that is clear and can answer any specifics if I can answer 😀

Hey hypnix, I am interviewing there next week, one of my top choices! But I was curious, they told you 4 or 5 weeks until we'd hear? Did you get the impression that they are doing what they did last year and meeting on the third thursday of each month?

Congratulations on being done, and thanks for filling out the interview feedback!

Yes. He told us our file would be reviewed by hte committee the week before Thanksgiving and also said that unfortunately, our file would not be reviewed sooner because the committee already met. Therefore, I guess it is safe to say they are meeting the third Thursday of each month.

Good luck next week! It's a great school! and I would love to go there

i got the "final decision has been made on 10-23-08" message. I am seriously hoping its not a rejection or waitlist! <knock on wood!> :scared:

Hmm, I am worried now. I interviewd 10/7 and my status did not change, did anyone from the school say it was ok to call and find out? or Should I just wait until next month and see?

Thank you for your help!

I got this today too. I checked out the thread from last year and it looks like we are accepted. It said if you interviewed and get this message it means acceptance up until around June. In June, however, they start doing rejections with that update. If you haven't interviewed and got this status update, I guess that means a pre-interview rejection. Honestly, I really doubt the admissions committee would meet today for the 1st time and start rejecting early interviewers with competitive stats, and I heard that waitlisted shows up by email. I think we are golden...congrats! I say quit with the neurotic pessimism and just quietly assume an acceptance...might want to wait to update the facebook status though just to be sure haha.

i also interviewed about a week ago but my status page still reads "decision pending"... i hope this doesn't mean a waitlist or rejection 🙁

So does mine and I interviewd on 10/7. I'm not sure what to make of it, do you plan on calling the admissions office at all?

based on last year's thread, it sounds like it might be a waitlist... i'm debating whether or not to call, but i would hate to mull about this all weekend!

on that note... my status JUST changed to read the "final decision" message and it pretty much says not to call them... here's to hoping for some good news!!!

It wont let me log in to my status check it says the page has expired, I guess they don't want to talk to me anymore, lol (in a sad, ironic laughing out loud way).😳

Oh well I was OOS at somebody else's state school, I deserve it.

Good luck to all!

Good luck with Decisions! I'm interviewing in early November.

For those waiting on interview invite: Check every day! That way you can get the earliest date available. I missed by a few hours and missed all the Chicago dates! Boo.

So check every day!!!

now that i'm under review, i check multiple times a day. like, 8-9. its obsessive. but its my top choice...

Just wanted to let you guys all know not to panic! I talked to the admissions office last week and they said that the only meet once a month to make decisions. The only meeting they had was the September meeting to discuss Early Decision Applicants ONLY! The first time any regular decision applicant was discussed was going to be at their meeting TODAY actually. Some of you might be noticing a status change today saying a final decision has been made so expect a letter to arrive in the mail in a couple of days. As they said on interview day, "Big letter=good news, small letter=bad news." Good luck to everyone!! :luck:

Them meeting today 10/24 makes me feel a whole lot better, thank you!

Hey all,
I checked my status page today and it changed to a grid with times and slots for interviews. Does this mean I was granted an interview? If so, do I just call the admission's office and let them know which date I would like? Thanks a ton!

To all who worried like me,

They rendered decisions today 10/24 as well as yeterday (according to previous posts). So those of you who read the previous posts and were worried, don't be.

Don't know if this helps anyone just giving the "heads up"

congrats cast ! when were you complete if you don't mind sharing ? just trying to see where exactly in the process of looking at applications they are. i was complete 8/14 and have been applicant in progress for like 3-4 weeks now..

For those of you who will be getting acceptance letters in a few days, please share with us how the site-selection process works.

From older threads, I know that it works on a first-come, first-serve basis. So, what exactly do you do? Do you call the admissions office after receiving your acceptance letter and shout your site-preference into the phone? You all are the first batch, so congrats on having a choice between whatever sites you want.

I believe you get a card in the mail asking for your site preferences and that it is a first come, first serve. This thread is so active today. It's making it harder to wait kind of! 🙄

I interview there the 22 of November. You think they will meet the Wednesday before Thanksgiving?😕

I got the final decision message as well. I am pretty much 99.99% positive I got in since I also received the Criminal Background Check email from AAMC.

I think you would be under review at the next meeting. I interviewed this past Monday and they met today or yesterday supposedly and we were told we would not be reviewed in the first batch. Sorry!

I got the email and the status change but there's another school that I got accepted to that uses the same background check. So did anyone who got the background check email get accepted anywhere else or are we sure this is from UIC?

yung, it said 10-23 for mine. i think they might send the emails for 10-24 on monday because it might take aamc 1 business day to process.

What does the CBC email say?

I'm afraid this might be the dumbest post/question ever, but how are you guys checking your status? The "check status" page kicks me over to the AMCAS site. What am I missing? Whatever it is, I blame it on the anxiety!

Thanks Premed! So here's what I received:

A final decision was made on your application on 10-24-08. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone.

What's weird is that in the interview, they mentioned that they don't simply "reject" candidates at their monthly admissions meetings. If you don't get an acceptance, you are simply returned to the "consideration" pile and reviewed again with the next batch the next month. If that is the case, a "final decision" can only mean good things??? Maybe I'm just being ridiculously hopeful...

Hmm....this is not the exact email I received so mine must have been from the other school. My status changed today so I guess we'll get ours on Monday. Does anyone know if we have to do this background check more than once?

thats what i remember too from the interview!!!
my fingers are crossed

I interviewed on October 7th and still have "decision pending" written on my status page. Does anyone else who interviewed in early October have the status page saying "decision pending"?

They say that they'll only send the email for the first acceptance from one of the participating schools.

When did you get the email?

My email was similar, but it was notifying me that one of the participating schools had requested the background check and that I would be receiving an email. I got it on the morning of the 24th before my status changed. On another note...Is there anyone who interviewed at Peoria that can offer some pluses for that campus? Is anyone thinking of choosing Peoria over Chicago if they get accepted? Just curious.

the email i posted is the second email. i got the email you are talking about on 10/23. yesterday i got the one i posted.
To answer your other reply. I am definitely going to the Peoria campus because the class size is smaller, professors care whether or not you attend class. I personally want a lot of private attention for the most important degree of my life. also, UIC peoria consistently scores better on step 1 and 2 as a result. i also heard from the students there that UIC peoria does not have a "competitive" atmosphere that is there in chicago, and that students help each other out more so than at chicago. just my two cents.

That makes two of us. I am still waiting on my WashU decision. . . but I am about 75% sure I will be going to UIC-Peoria unless Wash U offers amazing financial aid package. All other schools are off of my list but I am going to still do my last two interviews.

So I have also received the "final decision" note on the Application Status page. In addition, AMCAS did send me an email asking me to consent to the background check.

Waiting for that letter to come in the mail is very nerve-racking. Since I can't call the admissions office to find out if I got accepted or waitlisted, I tried looking for "other clues" in the meantime. I thought the email from AMCAS about background checks would be a sure indicator that I got accepted into UIC, but I read somewhere that some schools request background checks on accepted AND waitlisted applicants.

Does anyone know if UIC only requests background checks on accepted students or do they do both accepted and waitlisted? If they only do accepted, then the AMCAS email is good news! If they do both, well...there's more to worry about.

Thanks

is everyone that is receiving the aamc email have there decision made on 10-23 or are there people who had aamc emails sent with there decision made on 10-24?

I think its just the people with 10-23 and they seemed to have received the aamc email on 10-24. I'm 10-24 and haven't received anything. I am hoping to on monday.
