I am soooo anxious for you guys even tho I only interviewed yesterday and will not be hearing back until right around xmas!!!!

I sincerely hope you all get in! Goodluck with being as anxious-free as possible until the acceptance is official!!!
 
is it reasonable to think that this school simply doesn't reject anyone during the November interviews? that seems a little too optimistic to me.

Is anyone getting anything else besides this message?

IIRC, there are no rejections at this point in the game.

Not necessarily...it's school specific. I have a friend who was rejected from RFU post interview in October. Sorry if I'm being a killjoy, but for what it's worth, I'm waiting to find out if the final decision message is good news or bad news. I guess we'll know for sure in a couple of days! :whistle:

I was referring only to U of I. And if u look at last year there were no rejection from this status update. Obviously, other schools do reject.. hence posting this in the UIC thread, not the general Class of 2013 thread. This EXACT type of anxiety and worrying plagued people last year. So we can learn from last year and CELEBRATE.

it looks like everyone from october with the message got the big envelope too, so year to year and the one month from this year....ah!!!ireallyhopethiscbcemailcomestomorrow!
 
I haven't checked my status all day because I've been at work and now i can't see it because they're updating. So....God only knows what's on that status check page. I won't know until 8 am tomorrow morning. Dangit!

Alright guys we made good progress yesterday, heres to hoping that we get the CBC e-mail today so that we can be totally sure of our futures!
 
Woke up to my phone vibrating and I got the CBC email!
 
omg, omg omg. I just got the CBC email. Can't check the status page yet becase they're still updating it. Good thing???
 
But couldn't it mean waitlist too?

I'm pretty excited, don't get me wrong, but I'm going to err (spelling?) on the side of caution. I'm not going to celebrate until i see the big, white goodness of the envelope in the mail.

Oh man, though, if this is true.....I might actually cry. It's been a long road up to this point so far....

I got it too!!!!!!!!! Holy crap! Heston, read the quote from the AMCAS website that I posted a little bit earlier in the forum... Basically it said that they ONLY do background checks for accepted applicants until June at which point they may or may not do some waitlisters... Background check = acceptance... (Plus at UIC Final Decision means either a rejection or acceptance, you get an e-mail from UIC for waitlist and your status stays on decision pending) So Heston, if you got the final decision and CBC I think you are good to go 🙂

If final decision made at UIC status = acceptance then I am in.
Congratulations to every one.

I got this message on the status page:

"A final decision was made on your application on 11-20-08. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone."

And I got this email from AMCAS:

"As you were notified in the AMCAS application, and in an email upon submission of your AMCAS application, you have applied to at least one medical school that is participating in an AMCAS-facilitated national background check service. The following medical schools have agreed to participate in order to assist the AAMC with this new endeavor:"


Please someone tell me I'm not dreaming.....

I got the CBC email this morning. I am freaking shocked, i can't believe it! it has yet to sink in
 
on your guys' status page, does it say "Additional Correspondence" in the upper right corner? is there a date by it?
 
Decision made + CBC = acceptance

Best day of my life!!! Got the CBC e-mail this morning and the "Final Decision" yesterday afternoon. I'm in!!!!!! OMG this great journey of getting into med school has come to an end, and now I'm about to begin the great journey of med school!!! I'm at work and so ecstatic I can't even stay seated!!

RFU rejected me in October last year but never bothered to tell me. I had to call them to get them to send me a rejection letter sometime this past spring.

Congrats to everyone that got into UIC so far. My application was complete late and still isn't even updated on the status page, although I just called this morning and they have everything (late I know).

I don't think my numbers match what UIC is looking for but it'd be really awesome to go to a state school. I'd obviously prefer the city but I think at this point I'll take whatever I can get.

I got the CBC email this morning and checked by status immediately, and it says a decision was made! I am so excited! I interviewed on 9/14 in Chicago.
I'm just hoping that there is no loophole or something were another school on the list gets a check before they interview.

Last year we had the same level of neurotic behavior from those getting the Decision Made and CBC emails. Relax and be happy!
 
Got the "Final decision" message yesterday and the CBC email this morning. Its time to push my skepticism aside and declare that I am going to be a physician! This is truly a dream come true. There is no question that I will be at UIC next year. Congratulations to all of you; hard work does not go unrewarded. Hopefully our paths will cross in class next year...

Another email from AAMC? I think we are going to receive one from the screening company, Certiphi Screening, Inc.

"A participating school has now requested that a background check be procured on you via this service, and you will soon receive an email from Certiphi Screening, Inc. that requests that you log into their online system and provide consent for this report to be procured. To ensure that you meet this requirement, please ensure that you have added [email protected] as a trusted email sender."

Maybe this is the email that comes Sunday?

Yeah, probably Monday. I just remember reading people get some email on Sundays, but I think that is the CBC email. I guess we are fortunate to get the CBC email so early!

I do have a tendency to bring out the true geek in people, not that there are many pre-med geeks 😛

I'm so excited!!! Can't wait to meet my future classmates! I'll just say now that I'm more than just a geek!
 
So how many of you who were just accepted are for sure going to UIC? Which campus are you going to pick?? I am pretty sure that this early in the season we'll be able to pick wherever we want!!

I think I am going to pick the Chicago campus, more options for my wife and a fairly incredible match list.
