Do you know if we have to also send in a paper copy of the application?

my sister got in with very low scores. i wont say the scores but you all shouldnt be freaking out.

I didnt get in last year and i had a lot higher then my sister. Its all luck of the draw, seriously. Just apply, and hope to GOD someone picks it up and likes it. Its useless to compare with what other people have. It doesnt matter. You might just get lucky like my sister and a bunch of other people I know. And if you have high scores, its not a guarantee.

Also, the app fee is A LOT :scared:, last year it was the most expensive school I applied too, which was 110, now I forked out 120 for AECOM, and 125 for GW. I hope GW takes the spot for most expensive this year, if not I wont have any money left ....

Good luck you all! :xf:

I called AE today to ask about the letter from the registrar and they confirmed you need it if you're a post-bac no matter what. Don't let it be the reason you don't get in!

You need to get an email invite.

what's up with this whole picture idea. I am not a fan. It has potential for abuse in one way or another. I think its highly unethical for them to ask for a picture.

It's optional. You don't have to put it up if you don't want to.

Help!

Where is the link to the actual secondary. I got the email, clicked on the link, and I have yet to find the actual entry to the secondary.

Jeez.

Edit: found it.

Can we go ahead and submit the app, pay the fee, and send the other letters now, with this stupid UG dean's letter to follow?

I thought this was going to be a slam dunk app, and now this post bacc curve ball...

I emailed the admissions office. The picture is required. I felt like saying "thank you, I'll be withdrawing my application."

My picture downloaded sideways. Nothing I can do about it, just wonder if anybody else had the same problem?

when did you all submit-verify your AMCAS? i submitted June 18 and verified June 20 but still haven't recieved an einstein secondary

lol is it really a big deal about the pic? I mean you would have to be really fugly for a rejection based on pic alone :meanie:. Seriously though its not like they are looking for the next megan fox and brad pitt or something...medicine doesnt attract the prettiest of people id say 😉, i think its just nice to attach a face to a name.

what is so bad about taking a picture? just wear a suit, make sure your hair is combed and go to a store to take a passport picture.

is there a way to re-upload the pic here? my picture came out a bit distorted i think i had to crop it with different dimensions, but there is nowhere saying we can change what we uploaded..

my picture was oddly stretched as well, and my attempts to re-crop didn't change it. i think if you just re-upload the new one overrides the old.

I have the longest face ever based on this pic.

I have been out of school for 3 years...I don't know how I will be able to 1)explain activities in detail 2)reasons for taking time off 3)include dates in 50 words. Are we allowed to use bullet format? Maybe they meant 500 words? lol

My primary hasn't been verified yet, would you mind posting the undergrad dean letter requirement here so I can get that lined up? I'll love you forever.

Apparently it's only for grad students, but I don't yet have their secondary so I can't say for certain.

Does the whole Jewish thing have any effect on the school other than the library being closed on the weekends? Like do they have church things, or do residency programs think you might be jewish? I was reading the website and got a little worried about it.

Why would it matter if residency programs "thought" you were Jewish? The last time I checked, being Jewish was certainly no barrier to practicing medicine in this country. That said, I am interested to hear from current students/people in the know about the ways Yeshiva's Jewish heritage plays out in the medical school. Are a large percentage of students observant?

No it is not an issue at all. The only thing it might affect is, like you mentioned, building hours etc. P.S. Jewish people don't attend church

edit: and the holidays that the students at Einstein have cooincide with many of the jewish holidays to make it easier on observant students

I have a few friends at Einstein, not all are Jewish and of those that are only a few are actually observant. I think that having observant jews in the class is to be expected considering that it is YU's medical school, but I do not believe that Einstein is looking at the religious affiliation of its applicants.

According to Dr. Dannis, my sister says the only outward showing of judaism is a vending machine that sells hot kosher foods in the jacobi medical center open 24hours a day 6 days a week, and the library is closed on Saturdays (but said this would change soon). And obviously there are more students who are jewish.

for those of you who submitted this already was it easier to email or fax the proof of citizenship? i was thinking of emailing but if fax takes faster for them to receive it i can do that too! anyone?
