Oh, and if any of you have been fortunate enough to be accepted this cycle and have some extra time on your hands, could you please shoot me a PM and maybe provide me with some much needed advice for getting into med. school? Many thanks.

Well the advice depends on how you did. If you got a bunch of interviews but most rejected you then work on your interview skills. If you didn't get many interviews then improve your MCAT and get more activities - research, clinical, or community service.

My advice: Work in research for a year or 2.

Jeeze, waited 2 months for an interview, only to get rejected a week after the interview. Einstein's ****ing harsh...

Sorry to hear this, could you be so kind as to let us know what date you interviewed on?

I see conflicting times for the school to e mail responses.Do they occur throughout the day or only in the morning?

hi guys i just called einstein regarding my status. i was interviewed on 3/12 and tomorrow marks the start of my 9th week post interview. the lady was very nice but she told me that my file is still pending review and i need to be a little more patient. i asked if i would receive news on or around may 15 but she said there is no guarantee that i would hear anything that day either. i know patience is a virtue, but we just can't stand this procrastination!!! :boom::boom:

Have those of you who applied to the Service and Research scholarship heard back yet? I saw that one person did but they reside in NY. Anyone out of state get the letter yet? I'm in Florida so I figure I should be getting it soon.

I called and asked. Apparently I'm "still under review" and that I would be hearing back "in a few weeks", but there is no guarantee that I will hear back by May 15th, when I need to make my school decision.

I received a letter on Monday offering me the scholarship. I also received the official award letter today which included rest of the FA information. I am not a NY resident.

Same here. I'm still under review and they don't know when they'll get back to me, very possibly after May 15.

Likewise. "No decision" yet, and I asked if they might be done by the 15th and she started to explain to me the significance of that date, all the while I was thinking "Yes, obviously I know, that's why I asked!"

Ugh.

Interviewed here first week February. Just got an email saying that my app was "being considered very favorably" and they'd like to know if I've already decided to go elsewhere or whether I'm still interested in Einstein.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?? AAAH, Of course I'm interested Einstein, I LOVE YOU but please stop torturing me like this lol

No positive movement on mdapps. No responses from mid feb forward. Next fri will be the" tale of the tape".

If you accept a spot and then after the 15 you come off a waitlist, can you take the new spot? wHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES ?

Ditto. Take the new offer, call your old acceptance and tell them asap, you wouldn't want to be caught with two otherwise you might lose both.

You won't be reimbursed your deposit after the 15th of May (Apr30th for MSTP).

You may want to collect all deposits from schools that you know you won't be attending asap before the deadline.

After the 15 I assume that schools can see all your acceptances but, not the waitlist?

Can anyone help me with the MPN? I'm having a hard time finding the school listed on the form for the MPN. Do we just select Yeshiva University?

for those who got the research and service scholarship letter....can anyone tell me if they didn't get the scholarship? i want to know if everyone at least gets to know their status, or just that if you don't get it, u won't get a letter... also... for the ones who got it.. did u guys have the april deadline? thanx!

I was told that I was "under consideration and in review" for both the Research and Service scholarship and the general financial aid packet. My deadline for the scholarship was April 1st, and I have yet to receive anything. When I called, they seemed pretty evasive, as if they did not want to deliver news over the phone. I feel like this means a rejection, but could be wrong. My original scholarship letter said I would hear back on May 1st and since I did not hear back, I am assuming the worst.

Who knows though, I will post as soon as I find out.

The whole process is nebulous.I cannot figure what happened to three weeks of feb and all of march with respect to rejections and acceptances. On MAY 15 there must be some type of clarification for all people being considered for acceptance and or scholarship.Otherwise , this thread will be sparsely populated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't find it either. 😕

Right?! For those of you who did apply for financial aid, if someone could clarify wich institution we list for filing the MPN it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Also, as a side note, many of my friends have applied for financial aid at other schools and NONE have had to fill out nearly as many forms as Einstein makes us fill out.

how likely are you to be accepted after receiving this email? I got this email a few weeks ago but still haven't heard from them yet.

hi!! I listed Yeshiva University and I think it was correct because my financial aid packet just came in. I applied for the service and research scholarship and I did not receive a separate letter about it so i'm just assuming if we don't get offered one they won't formally tell you...medical school is expensive

i called the financial aid office to see if it was still possible to be granted scholarships after receiving the financial aid award letter and a woman said yes!!
because the scholarships are granted separately and by the admissions office, financial aid award letters can change.

has anyone heard anything recently from AECOM? interviewed here a few weeks ago and sent in a letter of intent afterwards because i loveddd the school but i haven't heard anything. i really want to go to AECOM and would love an acceptance from here!

i've been waiting since feb 22nd. haven't heard a peep yet. welcome to the "patiently waiting" group =)

The waiting will be worth it, I absolutely loved the school and can't wait to start! Goodluck to everyone still waiting!

The school does not acknowledge what happened to feb and march applicants.I feel like I am in a bad twilight zone adventure.

I agree that feb and march has all but disappeared from adcom radar. But this is more of a Kafka storyline meets the bermuda triangle. Seriously, what happened to those two months applicants?

That's not true right? If I get accepted off a waitlist, I was going to say that I can't accept without first seeing my fin-aid packet, and then decide from there.

Hey Batman. Just picked up your e-mail I am well aware that its 4 days to go until he 15. I will be waiting to hear why feb and march disappeared .

I'm not sure how LIKELY it is is but I just got accepted!! OMG YEEEEE 😀

I must say, I am really at my limit with this school...this is the email i got from them about two weeks ago:

Greetings from Einstein!

The Committee on Admissions of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine has very favorably considered your application, and would like some guidance from you regarding your level of interest in attending Einstein.

We realize that by now, you may have received an acceptance to your first choice school. If so, we congratulate you and ask that you let us know that you do not wish to be considered further.

If however of the schools at which your application remains active, Einstein is at the top of your list, please let us know.

Please respond via email to [email protected] by the end of May, or we will assume that you are no longer interested in being considered, and will withdraw your name from the roster of active applicants.

As always, we thank you for your interest in Einstein and wish you the best of luck, and the wisdom to make the best choice for you!

so to that I responded:

Hi,

I would like to let the admissions office know that, as of now, I am still very interested in Einstein, and would still like to be considered for admission. Thank you very much for the opportunity!

ok, so i figured I was being pretty nice here, i mean it HAS been about 14 weeks since my interview...but then today i get this!!

Dear XXXXX,

We are delighted that you've responded positively to our recent email asking you about your level of interest in Einstein.

We see that you're holding a place at XXXX and YYYYY and would like to know if you would prefer to attend Einstein?

We invite your candid response, and any questions that you might have.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

like wtf!! just give me an answer! if you want me, accept me, if you don't then don't! but don't just dangle me around like this and make it seem like i can only be accepted if i ASSURE them that i will 100% come...wow this really turns me off this school...

lol sorry for that rant...

wow, they actually dug up where else you were accepted to? this is ridiculous, no one can really make a decision whithout seeing fiancial aid i feel like. This is really cheap of einstein to be doing this to raise their matriculation stats. It really does look like they are going to accept you though

ya, i'm thinking that too, but now i gotta figure out a way to answer that email that is diplomatic and doesn't convey how annoyed i am at them...and of course, i can't commit to them 100% because i just don't know all the details yet...

so does Einstein have any need-based grants? I'm really anxious about what kind of financial aid they'll offer. Hopefully more than just loans :scared:

As of April any school where your app. is pending can see where you have been accepted too through AMCAS.

although the schools told us this, but the second e-mail is a little ridiculous. i mean, i received the first "favorable consideration" e-mail too... and that was a little frustrating already... but e-mailing a second time and practically asking you to choose after you told them aecom is a first choice is a little ridiculous... it kind of feels like they're holding ur acceptance hostage.. don't get me wrong... i like einstein... and im most likely going there.... but i don't agree with their way in handling this matter.....

on another note.. for those who are still pondering about the research and service scholarship... i called the admissions office... they said that another batch had been mailed out yesterday... however, those who don't get it will never receive notification.....:scared:

Every school is really weary of giving out acceptances at this point to people who will just reject them. It hurts their rankings. Because you interviewed late? Or, maybe a while ago and AECOM is just slow?...You're practically treated like a waitlisted candidate as this is the same time that they would be finding out about movement as well.

Have to agree it's frustrating. I find it somewhat annoying that medical school admissions committee do put us through so many hoops, in many ways for completely self-serving purposes rather than just actively recruiting candidates they want.

Med school is like dating the really hot girl who's been dumped too many times. Not only do you have to be amazing, but she has to know you aren't going to break her heart again.

I was amazed to read that the schools could see our acceptances prior to the 15 .Very disheartening and intrusive. I have not heard anything as I am one of the twilight zone students of feb and march.
I will be california dreaming instead of a NY State Of Mind. Good luck I hope you get a positive response.

How does it hurt their rankings? Because prospective applicants will see the # accepted and the # matriculated? Because no matter when they accept anyone they run a risk of that happening. And even if Einstein is a 1st choice now everything can change when people get off waitlists in early June.

Also, if I was sent this email, I would tell the truth: I prefer Einstein over school X but school X only costs me about 25K a year, and I would only be able to afford Einstein if their financial aid package made tuition at least below 35K.

Have other people been lying, saying Einstein is their 100% 1st choice even if its not? Or has anyone actually responded with something honest like what I wrote above?

Also, I don't consider interviewing in mid-February THAT late. People who interviewed in other schools in March and April have heard already.
