oh ok. thanks!

and if i wanted to upload it an official transcript, i'm guessing i would need to scan it and then upload it to the website. correct?

Correct. It's an odd process...most schools only ask for this after you've been accepted and have enrolled at the school. Maybe BU doesn't trust AMCAS? haha.

actually, they don't have to be official transcripts. they can be unofficial. scanning official transcripts can make things hard to read since they have security measures on the pages.

For the recent invites...complete dates?

Also, how late do they stop inviting. If their last interview is mid-March, I imagine the invites stop in Feb?

Decisions for the 2nd cycle go out mid march, so I'd assume interview days stop around the end of february and invites stop around the beginning or so?

Tufts vs. BU:

What are peoples' thoughts? Being in Boston is a priority for me and, I'm accepted to Tufts with an interview at BU in 2 weeks. I'm a Tufts alum and couldn't be happier w/ potentially heading back to Tufts, but I wanted to hear peoples' feelings about BU. How does BU compare?

Tufts new curriculum has one exam every 3-ish weeks for all of the classes your taking, whereas I believe BU doesn't do that. I'm a tad nervous about the one-exam-fits-all modality, and I was wondering what people thought about BU's curriculum.

Help?

I got the email and I haven't even been interviewed....complete since 9/1

Me too, I got this same email and have not been intervied, what do you think that means, embarrased to say when complete but not early, I know, stupid move 🙁

Same situation, into Tufts and interviewed at B.U. I really loved both and would have a hard time choosing between the two. I think i would really like Tufts' interdisciplinary tests and they they would be more helpful in learning to apply what we've learned though thats purely a personal preference. I also like the shortened pre-clinical curriculum and 4 year MD/MPH at Tufts. That being said, I think the clinical exposure is better at BU due to BMCs "safety net" status. B.U. is also around 3-4k / year cheaper than Tufts, though they are both really expensive schools. B.U. also does the more traditional anatomy first block, while Tufts doesn't do anatomy until after December, when its integrated with the systems-based curriculum. Not sure which of these I'd prefer

On the whole, they're both great schools, and you really can't go wrong with either one. They have differences, but to me those are more of a matter of personal preference with one not necessarily better than the other.

Does anyone know when the next round of interview invites might go out? I was complete the end of september and haven't heard anything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they haven't rejected me for a reason!:scared:

I was complete 10/13, got the interview invite 12/22 and will be interviewing 2/8...hope this helps

Everything at Tufts was so new and clean. I loved the school and didn't expect to.

I guess we are going to hear back on 12th-ish taken from last year's thread?

Yeah, I'm a GMSII - interviewed in October. I heard they are cutting back on the number of GMS'ers admitted this year, so kind of anxious to hear back.

Yea, that's what I heard. Do you know how many they usually select from the GMS pool?

Not exactly sure but the numbers I've heard are around 35 have been traditionally admitted from the GMS pool, and this year they are cutting back to somewhere between 20-25. This is just what I've heard from other GMS'ers, not anything official, so not sure how reliable those figures are.

Does anyone know how hard it is to switch interview date? I'm end of January but am worried if I try to switch they will all be full... can you look at options prior committing?

Just got an invite from BU this morning, but only date they offer is this wed. O.O ( I am assuming somebody cancelled)
Does that mean if I can't make it to that date, I wouldn't be able to get an interview?

Congrats Infinity. When were you complete at BU?

That was the same case for me. they only gave me one date to choose from and only a week notice. but it was in october. Are u a GMSer by any chance? I was wondering if they are only doing this to GMS p.

I don't think so? I am not sure what GMS is. I am instate though. Does that mean you only have one date and it cannot be changed. It's not even one week notice, its less than 48 hours notice

well, I would call just in case

well, I would call just in case but BU probably has too many qualified applicants to care too much about rescheduling you. BU is getting more arrogant.

that is just absurd dude/dudette

-plus, I heard in-state students usually get short notice and less date options

i figure that no dates were open in feb because they are all filled up, and I don't wanna risk it, so i am just going to suck it up and plead for a day off.

When I rescheduled my interview, I was also afraid that if I click on the reschedule button, the date I want won't be there. So, I just contacted the admissions office and told the person of my situation and the date that I could interview. I got a reply an hour later stating that I got the date I wanted! It seems very flexible, and I would give it a try. Good luck.

anxiously hoping for a call from a 617 area code any day now!!!! ahhhhhh i can't stand this...

Um, don't they wait til Feb/Mar if you didn't make it through the first round? Or did the first round announcements not go out yet? I interviewed mid-Dec and they said they just finished first round, so I, along with those who didn't make it first round, would find out in Feb/Mar.

I thought they make decisions on those who interviewed before the end of December. Calls from interviewers should be going out starting tomorrow or so ahh.

First round decisions are supposed to go out Jan 12th, but last year, acceptance phone calls started on the 7th. 2nd round interviews started in dec and decisions for 2nd round (and those deferred from 1st round) go out mid march.

I thought the quoted date was Jan 15 this year? If that's the case, people probably won't start getting calls until the beginning of next week...

I interviewed on the first day, 10/7, and Dean W told us 1/12. Maybe it's changed since then, but that's the date he told us, and I believe that agrees with last year's thread too. Can anyone else confirm?

yea i wrote down 1/12 also. the earlier dates are speculation based on last year's SDN thread. People were getting phone calls from their interviewers congratulating their acceptance as early as Wednesday 1/7, and email acceptances were received as early as Sunday 1/11. of course phone calls and emails continued to go out many days after these dates, so don't all start freaking out if you don't hear on the first day (but i'm sure we will anyway; 20 people posting "i didn't get a phone call, am i rejected?")

i thought i remembered my interviewer saying 1/15. plus from the bumc website, the date quoted as "earliest notice of acceptance" is 1/15.

either way, we should be finding out soon. good luck everyone!

Hello BU! Haven't posted on here in foreverrrrr, just tryin to catch up!! Just saw this post and I wanted to jump in real quick...

Those numbers are off, and unfortunately, they are off in the direction you wish they weren't... 😱

Good luck to everyone! You'll be hearing pretty sooooon it seems!

Not to start the mayhem, but I did hear from my interviewer last night. He said he had just received an email from the dean that said I was accepted and wanted to share the news. It sounds like people should start hearing back at any point. Good luck to all!

Wow congrats Sweet Doctor that's amazing!!!

I am a GMSII and interviewed in November. Does anyone have an idea on the amount of GMS students interviewed/accepted? I really hope the rumors about accepting less students from the GMS class aren't true.....

anyone else get a background check email? i'm trying to figure out whether i got the email because of UMass, BU, or einstein. hm.

Yes, I got 4 background check e-mails this morning - I've been accepted to 3 schools, waitlisted at 1, and waiting to hear from BU...I'm not sure the # of emails really means anything though (in the past I received 7 e-mails from AMCAS letting me know my app was processed...clearly I didn't have 7 applications)

Congrats Sweet Doctor that's awesome news for you!

I'm also a GMSII riss, so I'm hoping that good news is forthcoming (and that the # of accepted GMS students hasn't been revised too far downward...)

Pardon my ignorance, but what does GMS mean?

Pardon my ignorance, but what does GMS mean?

GMS stands for Graduate Medical Sciences. It's a division of Boston University School of Medicine. Most of the people posting on this forum are probably Master's of Medical Science (MAMS) students, which is a program within GMS (there are several others, but MAMS is the largest). It's a Master's program designed to help students boost their credentials before applying to medical school (or after applying unsuccessfully) to help increase their chances of acceptance.

Who was your interviewer?
