Hi All, I'm a bit worried...I haven't received an interview invite and I'm wondering why...Is there hope?
Brief app:
I have a Ph.D. in Chemistry
3.7 gpa
32 mcat
non trad
~12 publications

ps...I have already been accepted elsewhere but wondering if I might receive another offer..

It's probably going to be a little longer due to the holiday break. The 12/4 group will be discussed next week (1/12), the 12/5 group the week after (1/19), and the 12/12 group will be discussed at the end of the month (1/26). Hope that helps!
 
As far as interview day, are there any forms or documents we need to bring/ hand in? Any advice on what I should bring (besides my primaries/ secondary essays to look over)?
 
@ determined: You really don't need to bring anything; they already have what they need from you. They also give you a folder w/their materials and a pen, so you're set to jot down any notes.

@ current Creighton students:

Who lives in Omaha and can recommend places to live? I"ll be w/my fiance, so my on-campus option is an apt in Heider Hall, which is around $800-900/mo. It seems like there are a lot of cheaper rentals around Omaha.

Anyone who lives on campus now wanna weigh in? What about off-campus renters? Can anyone recommend some good places? I'm just looking for a safe, relatively cheap 1br apt close to campus.

Hey Brita,

I'm a current undergrad so maybe I can help a bit. Heider Hall isn't a bad place, but there are certainly better (and still close) off-campus apartments for comparable prices. Omaha is a pretty inexpensive city in which to live. For general searches you might try apartmentguide.com or the resource Creighton provides for its students: http://www.creighton.edu/studentservices/departmentofresidencelife/offcampusresources/index.php

I'm not sure of your financial situation, but I can say that buildings such as Midtown Crossing, Brandeis Apartments and the Old Market Lofts are outstanding places to live.

My recommendations for apartments right now, based upon 4.5 years of being in omaha and having friends live all over the city, are:

1. Midtown crossing (three blocks away, super nice, close to shopping, will probably have a shuttle to Creighton, and is where my wife and I are moving in to. A 1 bedroom here is in the 700-800 dollar range but are the nicest apartments we looked at i.e. our 2 bedroom will have granite counter tops)
2. River Park (5 minutes away in a council bluffs, cheap and still pretty nice)
3. Any old market apartments (they will be expensive but in a fun part of town and just a few minutes drive from campus or about a 20 minute walk)
4. Capitol Hill apartments. Right next to Heider but better and you don't have to deal with residence life or living with as many undergrads.

I personally did not want to rent a house in the creighton area because its a pretty sketchy area. My friends who lived in the area have had a lot of cars broken in to and I would never walk through that area at night. Kellom Heights is right across the street but it has a reputation of getting you mugged on your walk to or from school.

If you want to rent a house, you can find one pretty cheap in Omaha but I would recommend renting at least a few minutes away from Creighton.

hey guys, I just finished writing my secondary essays, and judging from the time it will take for them to get around to my finished app, will I still be considered for an interview this late? For those that haven't gotten in yet, I hope all of you are going somewhere this year.

If you have superstar stats then you MAY have a shot but I'm willing to bet that they are nearly finished scheduling interviews for this cycle.

thanks for the info. and i know you are Omaha bound, so congrats. I decided that I will turn my app in anyway, if there is one spot open, then its worth for me to try. Its a great school, plus i will get some religious training, its what i need.
 
i am interviewing this friday 👍 however i am finding out that the weather in the midwest over the next few days is going to be a disaster 👎 (-30 with wind chills, snow, wind)....i am freaking out since i have a connecting flight in detroit.....mr. jarmon sent an e-mail saying not to worry if i can't make it and i can reschedule for february, but i really realllllly don't want to reschedule....if anyone wants to send some positive vibes my way they would be much appreciated.....i'm freaking out over here in jersey (i will never complain about wind chills in the single digits again)
 
So...I called the admissions office yesterday to inquire about the status of my application...My file was complete in September and I haven't heard a thing...no interview...nothin...They told me that no decision has been made and it's under final review...How many reviews are there?????

Who knows... I'm in the same situation and was complete late september and haven't heard anything either. I was really hoping for an invite here! hopefully things will start picking up in the next few weeks.

I took the September 12 mcat, the results took about a month to get back, and I completed my secondary around the end of October/early Nov. Has anyone else gotten an interview even though their file was completed so late?

I was complete some time in mid December and got an interview invite today. There is still hope! I only saw 2 interview dates as well but I'm thinking they will probably open up more dates as they finish reviewing the last wave of applications.

Have any 12/4 or 12/5 M0s received emails or phone calls concerning the decision? Dr. Nipper said if lucky 12/4 & 12/5 students would be informed before Christmas- evidently that didn't happen. Sure hope it's coming soon!

I was 12/4 and just called. They said nothing was in our files on the computer but should be by monday if I call back.

they told my group (1/8) that we should expect to hear by valentine's day, but since you haven't heard yet i am thinking i'm going to be waiting even longer.....ahh i am so impatient!

i hope you get great news on monday!

I am thinking acceptance calls will go out on Friday 1/29...

Waitlisted. Interviewed 12/4 called 12/18 in the AM to find out.
 
Do they really wait until May 15 to accept people from the waitlist?

yes.

(and last year they pulled less than 20🙁....clearly i wasn't one of them.....in past years there has been significant waitlist movement however)

May 15th is the pretty much universal deadline for medical students to decide which school they want to attend if they are holding multiple acceptances. Thus, they have to wait until May to accept people off the alternate list so that they know how many spots they need to fill. The number of spots opening up for Creighton varies quite a bit from year to year.

My recommendation if you are wait listed is to go talk to the admissions department on their open door Thursdays (if you live near by) or give them a call to discuss the weaknesses in your application. You still have a few months before they start turning to the wait list so you should use this time to address the weaknesses in your application and then send updates to the admissions department.

The 12/12 group was just discussed on Tuesday, so the final meeting for that group took place today (which is probably why you got the machine). Calls will generally go out either on Friday (if they have time once the interview day is over) or Monday-ish. I know it's tough but hopefully you'll hear some good news soon! Best of luck!

It all depends on how things shake out. If we drop below the class size prior to the 15th, then I'm not sure they would wait to accept until after that day if there are specific candidates they really like. I can't say for sure though as I'm not involved with that process.

May 15 is a big day though, so about a week after that is when the dust has settled and we know where we stand in terms of the class. Last year's waitlist did not move that much, but that doesn't mean this year will be any different. It's entirely plausible that I may have scared off scores of applicants when I did this --> 😱 or this --> 😴 during our interviews. Said applicants might drop Creighton like a hat once May 15 hits, opening up the waitlist floodgate. Kidding, of course, but who knows!?

I was accepted October 23 and withrew my acceptance from Creighton today. Good luck to all you guys in the coming months. Creighton is truly a great school with a very friendly and collaborative community. But the high tuition price was just too much for me to handle compared to other programs I've been accepted to.

I called back right before they closed and someone answered. I nervously asked about my status and she told me they just made a decision on my file..

ACCEPTED!!!! SOOO excited! This is my first one 🙂

For people that don't live in NE, what are you planning to do about your car/ or getting a car?
i live so far away (miami)
any ideas?
 
If I pick this school I'm going to sell my car and just buy a new one there. Don't feel like driving from Alaska and Omaha is cheaper anyways.
 
i was complete in the beginning of Sept. and just got an interview invitation yesterday. so SO happy 🙂

does anyone know what interview day(s) are being reviewed this week and next, or when the 1/8 group might hear.....i know they recently were on early december days however i figured since there were a few fri/sat w/o interviews we might hear soon.....dr. nipper originally said before valentine's day, if there are any current creighton students around (i.e. oh synapse haha) do you know if this timeline still holds up?

The 1/8 group is being discussed this week, so hopefully you'll hear some good news sometime by early next week!

For others who are wondering, next week is the 1/15 group, the week after 1/22, and the week after 1/29.
