Are you OOS? I'm just speculating now, but it might take longer for an OOS applicant to be reviewed.

In state, I don't go to UF but good luck in the big game this weekend, any word on Tebow playing?

So can I ask/find out beforehand who my interviewers will be? I keep seeing posts in other forums for other schools that imply knowing who your interviewers are and researching them.

No, they don't let you know. I think the best idea would be to review the website and try to find as much information as possible about the people involved with the school. It's possible it might end up being one of them. Also, they are not necessarily MDs who interview you - some of them are MPHs, CEOs of area companies, etc who had a hand in helping the school get started. Sorry!

Game time decision...wouldn't expect anything else from Meyer, he's always so secretive about these things and there usually is a lot of misinformation out there. I have full confidence in John Brantley though if Tebow can't go.

I didn't see anything about student hosts when I went for my interview, but you could try e-mailing them to ask. The admissions staff is really, really nice! However, there are some hotels that are really close by and not too expensive either ($89/night isn't too bad)... some hotels in the area also give you a discount if you are a member of AAA as well.

I highly doubt it, since they only have 43 students. In the future I am sure they will offer student hosting when it becomes logistically viable...

They said around 15th, but my status hasn't changed.

They avoided getting too specific with when exactly we'd know. The Oct. 15/16th time is obvious but they didn't mention exactly how many people would find out by then.

Yes I am hispanic. I just found it odd that they were able to review my primary and secondary and offer me an interview within 4 days. I have submitted my application to other schools and it has been a little over a month and I still have not recieved anything from them. I am thinking FIU is just looking for numbers. I have noticed that most of the students that have recieved interviews this quickly have gotten good mcat scores or have a good GPA or a combination of both.

My friend applied to FIU last year and she said it took them forever to get back to her - I think this year there on the ball - good for them - hoping to hear soon after 10/15 (my stats 29/3.6) and I am not hispanic or asian - just a white girl from oos.

I thought it went pretty well, you can check out my interview feedback(I think I added it on the 9/27 or so). Basically, it was jam-packed with questions, one after another, from the interviewers. One of them I think asks ethical/etc. issues while the other asks the mandatory questions like why medicine and why FIU. They were pretty conversational though, even if there were little down time or pauses.

I'm usually greaat at speaking and presenting myself but I'm also usually great at exams and think they're fun ..but I didn't do as well as I did on practice exams on the mcat because I became a nervous wreck...so hopefully the same won't happen at interviews

I've been REALLY busy with essays and interviews this past month, so I haven't been to the hospice often, but I think I'm gonna go visit there this weekend. When do you usually go?

Yeah man, you should give them a call, I think they'd care if you're very interested. Write some good updates, mention what shortcomings you had, but quickly switch to how you've improved since then, and stress how well the school fits you and how much you wanna go there. Keep up the hope man!

Accepted!!!!!!!!!! Sooooo happy... I was super impressed with FIU and was hoping I might hear something around the 15th, but definitely wasn't expecting the 12:30 email, so that was an awesome surprise!! Hooorraaayyy!!!!!!!

You must have been the first interview group. I interviewed 9/11...and a lot of these guys with acceptances interviewed later than that, so I guess we should be expecting either a hold / reject / accept soon? Maybe if they put you on hold they don't update you?

Congratulations to all of you accepted last night! It seems like almost yesterday I was in your shoes (maybe because I was). For all the currently accepted Gators, seriously consider this great school, we can ALWAYS use more Gators in the family. For all others who are furiously nail-biting and sitting in front of your computer pounding the F5 (refresh) key on SDN, take a breath, your time will come. Last year in interviewed on the first day, Aug, 25th, and did not hear back till the beginning of November. Keep the hope strong guys and gals.

Well, it will be tougher for you than the early inteviewees.

Not necessarily. Acceptances have been sent out in the form of a “first wave,” but that does not mean that ALL those people will be accepting their seat. Remember, after you are accepted, you are given a certain amount of time to respond and secure a seat with a deposit. Only applicants serious about FIU HWCOM will reserve their seat, others applicants, possibly holding multiple acceptances, will decline. Also, as was the case for my class, the admissions committee was accepting members of the inaugural class almost all the way till the end.
Staying positive is key.

I got the 12:30 email also - ACCEPT -😍😀 - and then I got a call from the Dean congratulating me! WOW - what a morning. I really like FIU - these people are so student friendly. My friend who also applied and didn't get in last year called because she didn't get an email. They told her that its rolling admissions so the emails will come in waves - they also said they had an accept alternate email going out in the next couple of days - I guess since they didn't send out all 43 they are now waiting for seat deposits to send out the other acceptances - anyhow they are GREAT! I'm in - cancelling the other 3 interviews and saving money for the new swimsuits!

Haha wow! Well I was the guy in the navy blue / pinstriped suit with a red tie. I was brown / Indian looking if that helps. Haha. I was also the one who was asking towards the end when they'd let us know, or if we should expect to hear by October 15th. Were you blue? I don't remember anybody blue. Although you are from Cali which doesn't really help b/c half of our interview group was from Cali.
