Interview tommorow around this time. No Prep. Straight off the dome!

Do a little prep. As in, your motivation for that school, what you liked about it, what attracts you to the area, where graduates have gone in the past, and even knowing things about clinical years. Nobody has ever been hurt for doing research about the school for an interview.

I may see you there, although we only have one lecture tomorrow, so who knows.

Jenana--

Did you get your answer from them yet? Were you a morning or afternoon interview?

I have unfortunately declined my acceptance to FSU-COM for the class of 2014. The school is outstanding, but as MossPoh discussed previously, I was accepted to another school that works better for my family. It is easier for my husband to relocate there with his job. When I was applying, I promised I wouldn't be that person who holds onto acceptances they know they will not ultimately accept, but it sure is difficult to do. I am very bummed to decline and so looked forward to getting to know everyone. Good Luck to everyone, I know you will love it there.

Just got back from my interview today. I am so tired it is 9:00 pm right now and I drove to tally at 5:00 am. I pretty much spent the whole day driving, touring, and interviewing. But the interview experience was great. I felt much better this time than last time around when I interviewed. I had two new interviewers who really wanted to get to know me and what I had to offer to the school. They were great and I really enjoyed my time being interviewed. I didn't prepare for the inteview. I went straight freestyle mode, but I consider myself to be freestyle specialist so it was no biggie!

I just got back from my interview today, and I'm too exhausted to go into details, but wow, what a great school. I was very impressed with the facilities, faculty and students. It's clear to see that FSU has a great vibe going on there.

I still love seeing all you guys so spiffy.

I know a lot of first and second years make it a personal effort to go up and talk to you guys when you interview. We were talking about it the other day actually. A fairly large number of people mentioned how they would interview at other schools and the students would either look very mad/irritated they were there or look up with some miserable expression and shake their head. As a result of those experiences, they try to express their love of the school here and want every person to have an enjoyable experience and be excited to come here.

Can I submit pre-interview updates to FSU by e-mail?

Can I submit pre-interview updates to FSU by e-mail?

Yeah, i did it last year. they asked me questions about my update info at my interview so they will look at it!

Anyone know when or how they send out interview invites? Beginning of month? Constantly? Weekly?

What. A. Bummer. I think I was waitlisted, my status only says Under consideration by admissions committee. I really liked the school too, oh well...

When I spoke with them this morning, they said it varies depending on when the committee meets. They set their meetings based on their schedules...

I wouldn't be too bummed yet. I think there's a fair amount of movement later on in the cycle. GL

I got in! AHHHHHHHH SO EXCITED!!!!

!!!

I never used the website for status updates. They will email you if you request it I think.

Oh yes, and congrats to all new acceptances. 😉

I may be staying in Tally during the summer when all you guys get here for the anatomy course. Since my parents live all of 30 minutes away, I am trying to do some research and get a published abstract or something. So, basically I'll be hanging around and maybe able to help you guys a bit.

sounds good. i need a person who knows tally to shows me around.

Depending on who TAs anatomy, you'll have a lot of fun (and work). We're all pretty much friends with the second years that were our TAs for anatomy. You spend a lot of time with them and will go out with them quite a bit as well to celebrate.

I may even hold informal tutoring/interactive type sessions on my own to help out (and to teach myself the stuff I forgot). While there always is a bit of clinical stuff thrown in, sometimes it is fun to do other cases that require integration of knowledge and critical thinking. This is just an idea and I would only do it if people were interested since I could just as easily spend free time sitting on the beach or in a local cafe reading. 😉

I could also organize other non-school things since I do know the area relatively well. Frisbee golf, tubing, beach, camping, concerts...whatever.

congrats!!!! when did you interviewed?

Thanks! I interviewed Oct. 19th, absolutely loved the school, everyone was so friendly and laid back, I definitely think I'll be going there in May 🙂

You can usually tell when it is between exam times. 😉 Next week's interviewees will probably think it is super strung out since there is an exam.

Does this school frown upon "in the area" calls or emails? Has anyone done this with FSU? I really will be in the area....

I'm not sure. It is kind of hard since UF is the closest medical school in the area, and it is still 2ish hours away. I think the only thing they frown on is being a jerk. Just call, be polite and ask. The worst that happens is they say no.

If anyone creates a class of 2014 group on FB then feel free to request me. As time gets closer that will be far more active than this and I can hopefully give good tips.

this is the current one but its is really hard to find by just searching on facebook. I think its only in the FSU network which makes it impossible for other people on outside network to find it.

says all content is public on the info thing.

i searched for it on facebook and couldnt find it. but i did find the c/o 2010, c/o 2011 and c/o 2012 groups so what is up with that??

I added to link to my sig so people on SDN can find it. Its all good though FSU #1!!

Do you have any idea how many have been accepted to this point?😕

Nope, nor will I ever know. I'm not involved with the admissions process in any way, shape or form. If I see you guys standing around on interview day I may say hi and make a little conversation, but that is as far as my interactions go.

We've had interviews here almost every friday and monday since mid-september-ish. The interview groups are divided into morning and afternoon with usually about 3-4 in a group. So, any given interview day there tends to be around 8 applicants +/- 2. I don't know the acceptance rate post-interview, but I think 50-60% would sound reasonable. You can get a VERY rough idea from that.

It is difficult to tell for me since I'm part of the FSU network. If others have the same issue then I will message the guy that created the group and tell him. I think he is a bridge student here.

my friend who a 3rd year said its around 1 out of 3 will get accepted post interview (33% isnt bad at all)

When I interviewed last week, the dean said they accept 60%. I think that's a pretty reliable source. 👍

good chances all-around. 👍

that is why each interview group was so small. mine was only 4 including me (1 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon), i thought it was late in the season and the applicant pool was getting empty but apparently its like this every time.

3rd years have as much knowledge of it as I do. 😉 We are not included in the process at all, which may change in the future with the new dean of student affairs. The third year class was also not full capacity size yet I don't think. My personal experiences are that it is much more than 1/3 post interview. I only knew 4 people that got rejected post interview last year personally. I knew probably 9 or 10 that were accepted and 3 that were waitlisted (not including myself)

They might be interviewing less people now-a-days. Last year most of the groups were closer to the 8 range.

when did you interviewed?

May 1, the very last date to interview last cycle, i moved it back it was originally in Early April . I got in without waitlisted  but I had to defer for other season

why did it take you so long to interview? did you apply late?

Good to know...I have been complete since 7/30 and havent heard a thing from them. I even sent an email last month making sure my online status was correct. Oh well...it would be nice to stay close to home but I dont think I could stand waiting till April.

You must have had something up your sleeve. :claps:
Or you were destined to attend FSU....

It's weird how the process works and how they decide who to interview first. BTW, from your signature, I see you got an acceptance. Congrats!😀

Does anyone know if "Application Under Review by the Office of Admissions" means you are on hold? If so, has anyone had this status and been granted an interview?

Thanks so much!

I think everyone has that status when they are actually under review. I think you need that before you can have an interview invite.
That's how it worked for me at least.

From previous posts, I think you can only be on "hold" post-interview. I am not sure.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Accepted class of 2014!😀

Why yes, bottle of wine, I will drink you. How did you know?

In the spring there is an open house. When that comes, I'd love to take some of you guys out for a few pitchers or something....hell, if you guys come up anyway then just tell me. Depending on where we are in the semester workload wise, I'd love to give you guys a proper congratulations on getting into one of the coolest schools around. 😉

I truly have a hard time imagining a school that is the same level of caring and camaraderie as here. (Few exceptions of course)
