GW undergrad is closed tomorrow. I'm guessing the med school is as well. Most public transit is still shut down here, and above ground metro will not be open tomorrow, and most likely will not be open until Friday at the earliest. Things really are a mess. Just keep trying to call and send an email about it

Got an e-mail saying that interviews for rest of the week has been cancelled. had to reschedule for the March 1st week

I know this is a little late, but can anyone post their "probation lifted" email? I'm on the wl and didn't receive it.

Subject: LCME Update

February 4, 2010

Dear [my first name]:

We are pleased to provide the following information.

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education has informed us that our M.D. program has been removed from probation. Our accreditation has been extended for the full eight year period.

We appreciate your strong interest in our program. We look forward to continued interaction and communication with you.

Sincerely,

Diane P. McQuail, M.A.
Assistant Dean of Admissions
Chair, Committee on Admissions

Anyone waiting over 8 weeks? Interviewed Dec 4th. If anyone from the Dec 4th group is in here, did you hear anything? Call? Just curious.

😎

Think we'll start seeing some more interview invites since the Feb 10th deadline has passed?

Here's to hoping!

I hope so, I would really like to interview at GWU. I think the snowstorm might set some invites back a week or so however. I guess we'll keep waiting...

I would call if it's been past the 8 week period.

Any one who got the email about writing a LOI if you are still interested hear back about anything yet?

Does anyone know who all got this email? I was trying to figure out if it was to all applicants or not. I'm on the wait list but still received it so I was confused...

Had you all sent update letters or LOIs or anything before you received that email? I'm on waitlist too - didn't get the email, but did send a letter a few weeks ago...

I got a reply saying "thank you" after sending my letter of interest, if that means anything.

I was on hold since August. I wrote a LOI over the semester break and then received the email. I'm not sure if these are related because I think some people who wrote were rejected and some who did not write received the email. I think it's more based on their end of things.

Hopefully more invites go out now that the deadline has passed and the school is reopening.

I got the LOI email as well as the "thank you" email after I sent the reply that I was still interested. I have been waiting since the deadline passed...anticipating that maybe "February 15" would have been a good looking date to send out some nice interview invite emails. But nooooooooo...I did not see anything. 🙁 Did anyone get anything today?

Nothing yet....Keeping my fingers crossed!

I got a similar message, but I was requested to submit an official transcript from my college. I assume it just means they're reviewing our application, but are unclear about something so want more information from us. I'm not sure whether it's encouraging or discouraging...but at this point it's not a rejection so I guess it's good news!

Well I already sent them and update letter and I told my interviewer who wrote this info. down, but I guess I will send it to them again!

😍

It can only be a good thing when a school is willing to take the time to either 2. gain clarity on something in your application or 2. verify something was already clear. Its a review of your app and aside from that thing they do not have not YET found a reason to reject.

I would take this as a good thing. Good luck! :luck:

anyone know how much action GW has off their waitlist (post-interview) from year to year??

Now that I have more time I’ll elaborate on my earlier post. I interviewed at GW in early January and just heard a few days ago that I was placed on the alternate list. What specifically does this mean at GW? Are a lot of people selected off the alternate list every year? Any info/insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I got accepted!!!!! So excited

Interviewed 1/8 and found out 2/18!

just got an interview invite.

just posting that to let ya'll know there is still hope.

other than that, I am absolutely done with this godforesaken site. This is my last post.

This website is easily the single most depressing place on the internet. It's even more depressing than those old tripod homepages that you tried to make but simply never worked.

This site is just a cauldron of paranoia, depression, and mindless misinformation. Yes, I know that I have contributed to all three. But I could care less.

Really though, the premed mentality is the most disgusting mentality possible. it's just so toxic. On so many levels. I think it would be for the best if this site were shut down for good.

Get the interview and run?

Nah JK. This site like everything in life is what you make it. 🙄

But congrats anyhow!

when's your interview??? (just trying to make sense of what dates they are inviting for...)
thanks in advance!

March is the last interview month in the cycle so I'm assuming he got one of the dates.

Shehzq, Congratulations!!! Must be such a huge relief to finally have an answer 🙂

I interviewed 1/14 so I'm hoping this means they're getting closer to making a decision on my app. *crossing my fingers*

:claps:

Waitlisted two days ago.

Complete 10/25, interviewed 01/07.

I have acceptances at schools that are a better fit for me so I withdrew. Good luck GW class of 2014.

Did anyone else get this?

Hi, I interviewed in Jan. and I got this email in December before I interviewed. I sent in my info the next day, but then I got this email again after I interviewed, so I told them I already sent it, and the person who emailed me said they have different people who look through files and somebody might have misplaced my info the first time or something.

ANYways - not sure what this means, but I'm pretty sure its for anyone who did not designate attending a school past 5/2009.

its been so long since I did my primary that I have NO idea if we even put that information in the primary or not, but I guess sending them an email around the time of your interview updating them gives them more of an idea of what you've done. I mean, between the time of the primary and interview there are a lot of things that go on, so at least you can give them a more accurate update.

GW Secondarywise- there was a section about what you are doing for your glide year but you could only write two lines. So i was happy to have the opportunity to update them more thoroughly and go into depth. 🙂

I can't wait to hear back!! I loved GW, I felt like I was a really great fit, but I didn't send them a LOI after my interview only because I was under the impression that LOIs were only sent to places you were on hold... now I'm wondering if that will hurt me. It might be too late now because according to what people have posted about interview dates and hearing back I think I'll be hearing back sometime this week.

Anyone think I should send in an LOI anyway?

ADVICE IS MUCH APPRECIATED!!

I sent in a LOI after my interview...the letter basically said that GW was my top choice. I sent it in about 2 weeks after my interview.

So is it safe to bet that the people who heard back last week - the ones who had interviews on tuesday heard back on tuesday etc?

Cuz i interviewed the week of Jan 11-15

so can I expect to hear a response this week on the day of the week that i interviewed?

No. GW doesnt always go in order. 👍 But good luck to you!! :xf: I am waiting as well.

Does anyone know if there are still interview spots open?

I just called, they said they are still reviewing apps for interviews and have not set an official date for when they would be done interviewing.

thanks!! Good luck to you too!!

omg i feel like I'm going to have a heart attack every time I check my email...
this is the only interview I've had so far and I'm considering reapplying (I only have one more interview to go)
it would just be awesome to be in somewhere so I don't have to worry about taking another mcat etc.

PLUS - i loved GW's global health track and ties to WHO. PLEASE admit me adcom!!!

Does anyone know if there are still interview spots open?

I think there might be spots open still...

When I interviewed they said they had a record number of applicants amongst any medical school ever (14000+) and they are trying to interview about 1100 applicants

personally - I know a lot of my friends have gotten the axe in the past week so if you haven't they might still be reviewing your app!
