complete here this morning!!! Lets hope they are nice to me even though I am international

when did you get an invite to fill out the secondary?

Primary: 6/26
Secondary: 7/17
Sent: 7/19
Complete: 7/20

Hmm, since NYU doesn't screen, I'm not sure what's taking so long for you to get your 2ndary...

Anyone having trouble paying the fee? I've tried with two different credit cards and double-checked that all of the info is entered correctly, and it still gives me this error:

Card authorization failed. Possible reasons are (1) incorrect billing address (2) incorrect card security code or CVV and (3) system can't connect to bank for authorization. Please verify item #1 and #2 above or try again later.

Edit: Maybe the website was down or something? I tried again an hour later and it worked on the first time. 🙂

has majority recieved this secondary already?

I just got mine today, and my AMCAS was verified on 6/24. I think they're just overloaded with applications & possibly sending secondaries out in bunches like I've heard other schools do. Yours will come soon, I'm sure!

Hi everyone..
I have a question. The second prompt gives the option of "Health Care Administration" ... is that just a hospital? A non-teaching hospital?

How about Academic Medicine.. don't they already mean the tripartite mission (research/teaching/clinical) ?
I am interested in doing clinical in a hospital (and I'd like to teach on the side) so does Academic Med fit this? Or does it not include clinical?

Thanks...

Health Care Administration would be acting as an administrator at a hospital or for health oriented corporation, orienting more towards the function and organization of the institution. There would likely be much less patient time and more admin.

Academic Medicine is a combination of patient care with teaching and/or research. You would be working in a teaching hospital. This is a good option if you intend to dedicate your time to both patients and research endeavors or if you want the opportunity to teach medical students, residents, fellows, etc.

I think based on what you said Academic Medicine would fit.

omg academic medicine is working in a teaching hospital? are you sure? if so, then yay!

Got this one today. Nice and short, and it's two essays I've already written.

So my payment isn't processing, any news on this in the next day or so would be great. Just want to hear if it's happening to other peeps too.
EDIT: Ok realized I'm an idiot and the expiration date wants YYYY.

Yes, it is going in bunches, and apparently randomly (not chronologically by verification).

does the 1500 char limit include spaces? I assume it would auto reject your app when you exceed limit

Yup, got their secondary and they were a bit slow about it too.

The link is posted up somewhere I am correct?

anybody else finding NYU Med School's website pretty much impossible to sift through. All I can find is admissions information, but nothing on the actual curriculum/education.

If anyone finds where this stuff is on the website, please let me know.

has anyone else had unending frustrations with their secondary and status websites? i'm complete (got the email) but have SO much trouble logging in to see my status; it doesn't seem to recognize my password even though i've reset it like 3 times. 😡

Just submitted and discovered that my application is messed up. Do you want to apply to the MD/PHD program? NO! However, when I submitted this apparently reverted to yes... now I get to deal with NYU's ticketing system...

If you guys had Labs as separate courses from lectures for Gen Chem and Orgo, did you include the Labs on the third space in the grid?

I always have trouble filling these grids out.

Make sure you're on the right website. There's one for last cycle, and one for this cycle. I got really confused at one point because one website was accepting my password and the other wasn't. I didn't realize they were two different sites.

if i do have a sudden drop in GPA one semester but don't really have a good reason about it other than "i was busy doing research and got a little behind in my classes" should i just ignore that question or mention it?
my overall stats are okay, BCPM and cumulative ~3.7, MCAT = 39+

How much of a drop? One semester certainly could pass with no comment, unless you got like a 1.0 haha

i'm using whatever they linked to in their email... but i guess that would be a good thing to check. thanks 🙂

my drop was like a 3.85 cumulative BCPM my first three years and i got like a 3.4 BCPM my senior year (just because the classes i was taking were a lot harder and i was spending a lot of time in lab) my BCPM ended around a 3.7. my cumulative was like a 3.78 to a 3.5. so a pretty big drop my senior year, but not horrible? and i really have no reason for it other than "i was busy and my classes had all their midterms on the same day" not much of an excuse...

Yeah, so I'd let it go. If they think it is worth inquiring about, they'll ask you at interview.

Submitted!
Man, this one was deceivingly rough, especially the question on future plans!

Did anyone notice when they submitted their secondary that paragraph breaks did not appear? I got lazy and did the copy/paste thing but don't see how it would affect the paragraph breaks.

i didn't copy and paste, but mine still came out like that. oh well, what are you gonna do.

Complete here. Slight hickup with my LORs. Said that one did not teach me in a course. Makes me worry that the professor spent too much time talking about my research and not enough about my academics. Complete none the less.

I dunno about NYU specifically, but for other apps that have done this, the adcom can see our app with the breaks, it just shows up weird on our end of the preview.

I always have trouble filling these grids out.

I don't have the answer but I have the same question. Anyone know?

What kind of grade did you put? The grade that's on your transcript? Or the AMCAS verified Grade letter / GPA out of 4.00?

My school gave me a percentage grade.

Also, does the # of credits mean you put down the semester hours??

I got a letter this morning from NYU saying that they have only received one letter of recommendation and that I need to send in a letter from a science course instructor....

My question is: Does AMCAS send in all the letters that you checked at once?? I have four letters of recommendation in total actually....

I am not sure if that's the problem or if it's because my letters are from professors that I did research with (okay, not exactly a course but I did receive credits... English major here). Anyone might know??

Should I just email/call the adcom to see what they have received??

The exact same thing happened to me. I did research and took a class with one of my writers. I called them, she read through my letter and saw that I actutally took a class with them and completed my app on the spot. She was pretty nice.

Good Luck, I'm sure it will work out.

How do I know if my app is complete? Right now it says "Application in Process - You should hear from our office in 4-6 weeks."

They will email you. I got a complete email from them last week, my status now says:

" Application Complete - Under Review"

Contemplating submitting NYU secondary with my stats. I realize its a reach school, but a friend of mine was accepted last year with similar stats. As of today, I have submitted 12 secondaries. Suggestions?

Why not? If you've got the money, I see no reason not to.

I would, if it's a school you would really like to go to and you don't you'll just be left wondering what might have happened if you had submitted it.
