Just got a voicemail with the good news - regular MD with no word back since my March interview. I guess I'll give 'em a call on Monday to accept the spot and get the FA monster rolling. Ah - such a relief I'll be staying in CA.

Awesome Oze. Was rootin' for yah. Looks like holdies have a chance. So was that what you and Ed were talking about when you mentioned things were more clear for you? Hints that you'd get in?

Congratulations! Hopefully I'll be the next holdie to get in! 🙂

Pending a couple of other wls, but those are long shots now probably. I know! I gotta hussle to find places now. Thankfully there are lots of places in midtown that are decent and cheap. The kicker is that I just moved away from Sac 10 days ago! Raar

speaking of housing, is the only place where people are organizing such things on the facebook group page or does the school have other stuff I haven't been told about

Yeah actually - I'm going to post something on the facebook group page as well but I'm looking for a 2-3 bedroom bungalow in elmhurst or north oak park (walking distance to the hospital) or in midtown/mckinley park (biking distance to the hospital). rent should be in the neighborhood of $1500 (for a 3 br). if anyone is interested pm me, I'm going to go up in a few weeks to hunt.

Oze, this is sooo cool!!! Good for you!!! After a discouraging phone call with Ed last week I resigned myself to NOT checking sdn or crossing my fingers to hear back. This gives a little more light to my flickering flame of hope. Not sure if thats a good thing though. In any case, sincere congrats - have an awesome time in medical school!!

I just withdrew today also- good luck to those of you still waiting!

Thanks and good luck! They seem to be finally moving along and they seem to be pretty active.

Hey guys, for those who are accepted (congrats!) and will be looking for housing in Sac for this coming year:

There are 2 rooms for rent available - one in a new 4-bedroom house on T and 36th St (across the street from Starbucks), another in a 3-bedroom condo on 4th Ave and Stockton (across the street from Food Source), both within about 10 min walk to the hospital/ Med Ed building.
Both rooms are very spacious (huge master-bedroom size), each with a private bathroom and a large closet. Both houses have very large living rooms and kitchens; washer and dryer included in each house, and private parking available as well. You'll be living with male and female 3rd and 4th year medical students in each place. Both houses are owned by one of our faculty members; the landlords are very nice.

The rent will be $550/month + $57 for utilities (wireless included) for the room on 36th St, and $650 + 1/3 of utilities (about $50 per person each month) for the one on 4th Ave.

If interested, please contact Robert Greer: [email protected] or reply to me: [email protected] and I will forward your emails to him.

Bummer. I interviewed in January and I still have no decision yet. I got a hold of Ed last week and he said that decisions would come out at the end of this week...right now. Is anyone else still in my boat? Should I just give up hope of going to this school?

was accepted from the waitlist but just declined the offer so good luck.

I interviewed in early November and haven't heard a peep....not even about the so-called hold status. Whatever....

Interviewed in Feb and not a word since either. You still got company in your boat! 🙂 *Row row row*

"End of the week" at Davis doesn't inspire confidence considering we haven't heard a thing for so long.

not even about the so-called hold status

We made up that status for those of us that haven't heard anything like you.

Thank you! I hope I get the spot! Good luck for where you are going!!

Hi everybody
I am applying for the 2010-2011 cycle, and Davis is currently my number 1 choice.

Does anyone have any tips on getting an interview/ succeeding in the interview?

I currently have about a 3.65 cgpa and sgpa with 33 mcat, and the usual extracurriculars. Anyone get in with similar stats?

Thanks!

I got in with a slightly higher gpa, slightly lower MCAT.

Davis is definitely one of the schools that looks beyond numbers to fill it's class. Let your passion show in the secondaries and interview and hope for the best!

So is this it for us waitlisters? Has class already started for those accepted? Is there any chance of coming off of the waitlist at his point? So sad...........

Yep, we are currently half-way through the orientation. Sorry dude, I was in your shoes last year and made it happen this year. Good luck wherever you end up going or whenever you end up reapplying. Best!
