Hi everyone, do any of you know when UCI begins interviews? Anyone interested in doing PRIME-LC?

I believe 9/23 are the 1st interview days? Or somewhere this month. Im personally not doing prime lc and im not interested too much nor do i speak spanish.

if you see a "denied" and did not receive any correspondence or e-mail to go with it, it's not an actual rejection yet, at least that's what I believe. You can call the school to check if it's for real, or if just means you were denied an interview. I knew a few people who had the "denied" notation in their interview status and yet got an interview one month later. In other words, if you haven't received the actual rejection letter, don't freak out yet. just-->

that certainly makes a lot of sense. I always thought it was strange how so many SCREENED applicants were rejected after first glance, rather than being placed into a re-review pile. then again, you never know with this process...

Only way to know for sure is to call them and ask. Schools often make exceptions on a case by case basis.

I went ahead and called them and the non-science letter is just suggested, not required! Whoopie!!😀

That issue caused me so much worry . I didn't want to give up on UCI!

Now I can submit that secondary after I fiddle with the UCLA one today (God, that one was brutal!).

It asks for 1 year of lab based course, but from where I'm from (UCSD), we don't need to take an entire year of lab, either for O Chem or Biology. So, what should I be listing? I would call the UCI Admin office although I doubt you don't have the requirements since you went to SD.

Call the office but I attend UCI and we dont have a full year sequence of ochem either so im sure its all fine. We dont even have an undergrad 1 yr of bio lab sequence either. Students here take 1 yr of upper div labs instead. In the end Ucs all do things a bit odd but 1000s of us each yr get in, im sure most schools just understand how we work and its fine.

theres dinner at a local pizza shop thats right nxt to campus the night before interviews. Since i live on campus ill head over there for sure, hope to see some of you there🙂. The pizza there is pretty good actually 🙂

has anybody been completed recently? all my materials were received 08/26 and when i called a couple times they keep saying they're in the process of completing it and to watch for it the next week...but its been more than 3 weeks now!

when you come to school...... you will have free time at some point i think. you probably will just spend it socializing with the other interviewers tho. but if you feel the need to get a whoopin, the student lounge is across the way. we play pretty much every time we have a break from class with out fail.

edit: also i think they are offering an optional tour maybe? starting at 7am? if you get there early there will be time to play too. are you stayin with a student host?

no. you guys are the first. the interviews are few and far between. they do it like once or twice a month with about 40 interviewees per day.

So unless they changed how they run things, they DO NOT reject anybody post-interview. You are either waitlisted or accepted.

In general it took 4-5 weeks to get the phone call that you were accepted (they call at random times, like late at night or on saturday mornings. so dont be surprised!). In the case of an acceptance, your status WILL NOT be updated on your status page until AFTER you get the call.

If you get waitlisted, last year the pattern was that people started getting waitlisted as early as 2 weeks post interview. If you are waitlisted, your status page WILL change. I dont even think they send you an email, they just update the page.

What does this mean? THIS IS JUST MY THEORY, so take it with a grain of salt. That being said, it held true pretty much the entire year... If you notice that people from your interview day have been waitlisted (theyll say on SDN), but your status page HAS NOT been changed......thats probably good news for you. The longer you are post interview without a status change I think the the better the news is for you. Make sense? I think there was one occasion where someone has a status change to waitlist kind of late, but it only happened once.

So based on how they did things last year, you probably wont hear back by October 15th. It will more likely be end up october, early november.

They could also have totally cahnged the way they do things from last year, so I dunno. You can ask tomorrow the general timing for hearing back and what not.

I would go ahead and call. They love people who show interest in their school. I konw a few classmates who were initialyl rejected but then appealed and then were granted interview and eventually acceptance. Dont become annoying about it, but let them know you are interested in their school and wanted to check up on your status.

the msar says nov 15 is the earliest date and judging from what the current student said, id assume thats somewhat close. This is my number one choice school if i get accepted here Id be so happy. I could stop going on other interviews and just be happy im going to UCI again 🙂

yikes! i think i just made a mistake...so I'm applying MD/PhD, and I selected that option on AMCAS. I filled out the secondary form, and while I was curious that there were no MD/PhD related questions, I just filled the secondary out anyways. I looked at UCI's MD/PhD website and they said a MSTP form was supposed to have gone out with the Secondary form, but I never got one...and I am currently pending review for an interview. what should i do?

I'd like to fill out the MSTP form if possible, but a) i dont know if I can modify my app and b) wont that just shuffle my application position to the back? I'd almost take an MD acceptance and apply MD/PhD after I get in.
