Ya i just go a secondary too😀....but the essays:wow:

what would be an appropriate 'problem' in your life? other than the ones listed for the hardship essay. like, an ethical problem?

at least i can do half of ucla's essays in 10 minutes. i love similar prompts!

I wrote about how I struggled to complete my honors thesis. I didn't have any touching or moving problems to write about.

is there a "2nd wave" of secondaries that are going to be sent out?

cool thanks, i was really hoping this wasn't one of those ethical dilemma questions, or one of those amazing stories like learning english at age 18 and becoming fluent by 19.

I got the secondary too.

Anyone else find it absolutely ridiculous that UCLA is one of maybe three schools in the entire country that doesn't accept AP credit? I have to retake calculus and statistics my senior year because of it, and I think that means I have to select "No" to the question about having completed one year of college math. I've also completed four years of high school Spanish (and got a 4 on the AP test) and one semester of college Spanish, but I'm not sure if that qualifies me to select "Yes" for Spanish. However, it would be weird of 4.5 years of Spanish doesn't count, but two semesters of college Spanish does. I sent them an e-mail about that, since I can't find a phone number.

omg i got it wtf, i dont know why i got it but i dont care!!! 1st UC after being snubbed by UCSD and SF...seems alot of us got this one though compared ot the other UCs, im not seeing the same faces. Does UCLA send out a lot fo 2ndary requests, more so then the other ones? Cause im shocked i got it.

would be it bad to copy some of the anwers for activities' questions from the AMCAS?

My AMCAS activities' descriptions are mini-essays, now I have to write the same stuff again?

I think ucla gives it out to 1/2, ucsd to 1/3 and ucsf to 1/4 based on their websites

It's still an achievement as far as I'm concerned.
oh im still happy i got it!! I was just wondering if they did a really hard screen like UCSF does or not. Any cali secondary would make me happy 🙂.

And omg i just looked at all the questions...this is sick...i already have 4 other secondaries im sitting on...UCLA is going to take me a looooonnnng time

🙁 i got both UCSD and UCSF's and yet looks like i got snubbed by my own school!!

man the UCs are so freakin random sometimes i swear. Ive seen people get accepted into ucsf but rejected at uci its like wth lol...

Yeah, that's odd. I got SD and now LA, but no SF. But then, we all know SF is probably the most selective of the three, so it makes sense.

Hey Guys,

I have gotten a couple questions about the honor/award question. Remember, this doesn't have to be an honor or award in the academic or even community sense. This can be anything that reveals something about yourself. I wrote about winning the "most friendliest" award in my high school class, and why it meant something to me. Remember, think outside of the box 🙂

Gah, I at least want a secondary though! Plus, UCLA's MCAT average is lower than the other two, and their GPA is comparable too. I know I wasn't verified as early as you were Elijah05, so I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for a secondary soon.

according to UCLA's website, roughly 3000 out of 6000 applicants get secondaries. I doubt they could've sent out all 3000 today, so hang tight if you didn't get one. If you got one from UCSF (meaning you're top 25% of applicants there) I think it's safe to say you'll get one here too...

i've gotten sf and la, but not sd. so we've got all cases covered i guess haha

i was verified on July 1 and i got ucla today

sheesh. i wish the uc's secondaries were more like ucsf... ucsd and ucla are beastly🙁

primary verified july 7th and received secondary july 9th.

i dont understand the timing in this process...so weird

Can you please tell me what the word limits are for the UCLA secondary essays? Thank you for posting the information!

PROMPT

Describe involvement in the ONE most important non-academic activity that has been important in your life?

What has been the ONE most unique leadership, entrepreneurial or creative activity in which you participated?

What has been the ONE most important volunteer work you have done and why was it meaningful?

What is the ONE most important honor you have received? Why do you view this as important?

What has been your most scholarly project (thesis, research or field of study in basic or clinical science or in the humanities)? Describe one and give number of hours, dates and advisor.

Describe a problem in your life. Include how you dealt with it and how it influenced your growth.

List major paid work experience during (or since) college. Give dates, description, approximate hours worked (list the most recent first).

If there is any hardship to which you would like the committee to give special attention in evaluating your application, then check the box labeled 'Hardship' and briefly explain why you are indicating a hardship. Include any geographic, language, economic, academic, physical, or mental factors.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What experiences have led you to this goal?

So glad it's behind me... good luck on yours.

it would be bad to talk about being chosen to give a hs grad speech right since its not in college?

i wrote about something in high school, there is no time criteria...i would just advise you guys to stop and think about the non-stereotypical things..something will come.....don't try to look at your resume and pick one...just think about your life and you will get an answer

I don't think you need to fill out every available prompt. If it doesn't apply, then there really isn't anything you can write about.

Can I leave my honors one blank? Putting "I was on Spring 2008 Dean's List and it was... oh so significant for me" sounds really weird.

woot, submitted! Huge weight off my shoulders. Now hopefully an interview invite.🙄

You seriously haven't achieved anything else in your life? Did you play any sports? Did you have to tryout to get on the team? That's an honor. Did you participate in any clubs in high school or college? Did you ever win anything? That's an award. Hell, I might write about the fact that my Counter-Strike Clan competed in a tournament and came in first.

Edit: Oh you submitted anyway. Nevermind.

I'll have to look again, but I thought they wanted you to describe a "scholastic" honor.

It says scholastic honor, buddy. I doubt Counter-Strike counts as a scholastic honor.
