Alright I just had my interview yesterday and I am already sick of waiting, I feel really sorry for you who interviewed back in September! At least they hand out about half of their interviews in March, so they say. But March 30th can not come soon enough! How did the other 1/8 interviews go?

I am still waiting to see what is going to happen with my app here--- you say they hand out half their interviews in march? I was complete end of september, and haven't heard anything since... do you know when they hand out most of their rejections pre-interview?

They don't hand out any rejections until that special date in March. The date has varied from year to year, but it's been the second part of the month... the 15th or the 30th usually.

You know what, I wrote that wrong I'm sorry! I meant they hand out half of their acceptances in March (That's what the lady at the interview said) I'm really sorry i said that wrong! And as for rejections, I actually don't think they tell you if you're rejected until that date in March (They said the date would be the 30th or 31st at the interview). But I wouldn't get too discouraged yet, it seems like a lot of people also get short notice interviews, especially as others are getting acceptances to the schools that they want to go to and are cancelling their interview dates at UCD! so that makes the "half the acceptances are handed out in March" kind of a positive thing!

Also, if you think you're interviewing for a wait list spot, that's not a bad thing I don't think! The lady at the interview also said something about for the past however many years (I don't remember the exact number but quite a while) everyone from the alt 1 waitlist has been accepted! It's the alt 2 that is very iffy, and alt 3 she said no one has ever been accepted from. Hope that helps! If anyone needs anything else the interview is still fresh in my mind so I can try and help!

Ok, I finally figured out the name of the "lady" that I kept mentioning in the post above, it was Norma Wagner! I felt like I was disrespecting her and she is a very respectable woman!

Last year, not everyone from alt 1 got in. That was the only year in like the past 20 that it's happened, but it might happen again this year with the way the economy looks.

I've heard a number of IS students getting calls for short-notice interviews though.

I recall hearing Dr. Wagner saying that all of the Alternate 1's for In-state were accepted last year and only 1 person from the Alt 2 list. However, there are out-of-state alternate lists as well and that may be what you're referring to.

Yeah that's exactly what I remember Dr. Wagner saying on Friday as well.

For those who got accepted; Have you received any information on the different tracks you applied for? And have you sent in your tuition deposit? Thanx

I did not apply to any tracks, so I have not received any info on tracks. In fact, I haven't received a whole lot of info about anything more. They said in the acceptance that in the coming weeks they would send out info on how the tuition deposit would be sent, but that also has not happened. It will be two hundred dollars and due by two weeks after sending info out or something of the sort but no exact information has been sent out. I can post new info as I get it if you would like.

I also interviewed on Friday! Man it stinks to have to wait so long!!!!

So I LOVED UCD, which is why this was the only interview I kept even after getting other acceptances - but the thing that bugs me the most about them is that they really like to keep you waiting until March before they let you know. I know a lot of people that go to school there and only a few that I know actually got acceptance before that March date. I had to chuckle during Willa's part of the morning where she said they are usually early for the deadline, because I know last year it was literally 5 pm on March 31st before they sent out the last group of acceptances, rejections, alt. list, etc. So it's a little crazy especially for major planner like myself to have to wait that long to know where I am moving to this summer!!

AHHHH, the waiting!!!! Anyways, good luck to everyone that interviewed and who is waiting to interview! :luck::luck:

I was accepted back in November and haven't heard anything else. It sounds like they are trying to get the online pay system set up... so who knows when we will find out.

An online payment system? That would be nice and it does explain the delay. As for the acceptances, I know last year that they initial sent out around 190-200 acceptances with the initial batch and they issued the rest from waitlist when the confirmed class size dipped below the target 156 number. At least thats according to Dean Wagoner at my alt2 meeting last June.

Man I still haven't heard anything from this school and I have been complete since September I believe...are they still handing out many interviews?

Good luck to all the accepted applicants. I'll be in next year's pool (taking the MCAT in a few short months).

I was just wondering if anyone knows what the daily schedule is like for first and second years at Colorado? For example, at some schools required class attendance time is approximately 8am-1pm each day, leaving afternoons free for self study. At other schools it's quite a bit more. I'm just wondering what the schedule's like at Colorado and also whether lectures are typically recorded for viewing at home?

Thanks in advance.

That's the link for the online schedule that they told us about on the interview day. From what students said, lectures are recorded, but I may be misinformed on that point.

Good luck!

During anatomy, it was day-on, day-off for staying late for lab, but the lectures were from 8-12 (not mandatory), and all were recorded and put online usually that same day. I understand that occasionally there were other things in the afternoons, but when I interviewed, all the first years were still in the midst of anatomy lab, so that was their main focus.

Thanks a bunch. Crazycab, that link was especially helpful!

Hey Sleight, I wouldn't be too worried yet. Colorado seems to have no problem giving out short notice interviews, and as the season goes on I'm sure people will be dropping their interviews with Colorado as they get acccepted to other places that are higher on their list! The interviews go into March I believe, so there is still time!

I received an interview invite this morning through email with the date set as March 5th. I'm OOS. I'm guessing it'll probably be one of the last dates?

They also don't have a problem giving late acceptances either! So no interviewing for the waitlist. No matter when you interview, you still have a shot!

Good to know! I feel like it would be so disheartening to interview just for a waitlist spot...do most schools tell you if they are doing that before you spend a bunch of money to fly out?

The thread has been dead for a couple days now! Any news? Btw, is it usually the last wednesday or so of the month that they send out acceptances? Anybody know? I know I read it somewhere but I don't remember where and don't feel like going back and re-reading everything!

I haven't heard anything yet and haven't heard of anyone that interviewed this month hearing yet either! Ahhh, the waiting!!!!😱😱

But from reading the thread it looks to me like they send out a few acceptances at the end of each month and I talked to some students the night before my interview that told me the last time there was a "decision" meeting was at the end of December so they thought there would probably be another one at the end of January.

Thats what dean Wagoner has indicated in the past. Acceptances are sent out at the every month. Those aceptances are usually composed of the those from the previous month, but anyone who has been interviewed could possibly be accepted at that time. If I remember correctly, there were 15-20 sent out per month with the remainder of the acceptances being sent out on d-day in march.

The info from the interview day says march 31, but its usually late march or the first few days of april.

Has anyone had any problems looking on that ilios site? In the info packet from interview day there is a website address to an ilios site for more info, but I cant pull it up for some reason. Anyone else having the same problem?

SOOOO excited!!! I got an invite for an interview today!!!! It's on February 12th. Anyone else interviewing this late?

...there is still hope. 😍

Congrats on your interview!! GOOD LUCK!

(someone on the last page got a March 5th interview)

Just curious, has anybody that applied to the Rural Track received interviews or acceptances yet? I applied to both the rural track and regular SOM back at the end of september, wondering if and when rural track students heard back.

Okay, so I'm OOS, but from a WICHE state. Does anyone know the specifics of how people get WICHE funding, i.e. how they rank students? That is the only way that I could afford Colorado, but I loved Denver.

I'm not completely sure about wiche states but here is what I know about acceptances and funding. When it comes to acceptances and the wait list, there are two lists, in state and out of state. They maintain a relative ratio of in state to out of state and so will offer acceptances so that they keep the ratio consistent. As for funding, you either fall into a sponsored or accountable student. Sponsored students are those who are in state or have some sort of exchange like the wiche, while nonsponsored are normal OOS students.

As for qualifications for wiche or any other exchange program, from what I have understood this is handled through your home state. When I interviewed, there was mention of one state pullling its funding and participation from wiche and other exchange programs. Your best option would be to contact admissions/ financial aide and they will most likely know where to direct you.

Still interview invites being offered in March? Yay, there's still hope! I've received NOTHING back from them yet. I'm in love with the school, so my fingers and toes remain crossed.

Unless I'm mistaken WICHE states are still considered OOS but their individual state picks up the tab for the Accountable student fee. Therefor the individual student only ends up paying IS tuition rates.

My understanding is similar, though I think WICHE students have more precedence than other OOS students. So they're below CO residents, but above a resident from, say, TX or NY.

Does anyone know when the admissions committee will meet to discuss the January interviewees and the final decisions yet or not? I haven't seen any acceptances on here yet, and I know they only give a few out a month, but I figure some of us have a good shot. I know that I interviewed with a lot of really great people! 😀 Surely some of us will get in before March!! :xf::xf:

Because of your signature, I'm a little surprised that you're so interested in CU.

I guess I am not really sure why you are surprised - I applied to both MD and DO schools as many students do. I applied to 11 schools (6 MD, 5 DO) after extensively researching each school and trying to decide where would be a good fit for me. After being accepted to MSUCOM which was my second choice I cancelled all 5 of my other interviews and declined acceptances with the exception of CU, which was my first choice. CU has remained my top choice as I am a Colorado resident and while MSUCOM is also an excellent program (#7 in Primary care in the country, ranked right up there with MD schools) I would have to uproot my family and move across the country to go there.

Oh and also it's 65k/year for MSUCOM vs. 25K/year for CU so that's also a BIG reason to keep CU up in the top spot.

I think he is confused because your signature says that you are a member of the MSUCOM class of 2014. Now, many people would wait until they decided to attend said school before posted that. Hence, confusion.

I apologize for the confusion on my signature - I meant for it to convery ACCEPTED into the class of 2014 of MSUCOM. I have seen many people that list all of the places that they are accepted to in their signatures and actually just recently took the names of my other acceptances off of my signature since I had withdrawn.

And to be completely honest, I have put down the required deposit at MSUCOM so technically I am a member of that class, but I would possibly lose that deposit if I got in to CU.

I just got accepted! At 9:55 AM I got my letter in the email! I can't wait to hear from others!!!

congratulations! when did you interview? are you in-state?

Got accepted today too - interviewed January 11th. I'm from out of state. So excited!

I interviewed on January 8th! And I am in state! I will be when school starts at least!

I have no idea what your situation is or anything, but be careful here.... Colorado requires that you be a resident before acceptance, not before matriculation. Meaning you have to have presence in the state for a year, have a driver's license (and a registered vehicle), and be paying taxes prior to acceptance. Just FYI.

I got accepted today too!! I am in-state and interviewed January 8! Congrats to the others who got accepted today as well!!!!

Really? Well I better look into that...I moved here in May and immediately registered my car and got my driver's license and registered to vote etc...I actually called and talked to whoever at the school and they told me that I just had to be here for a year before matriculation. I AM a Colorado resident right now, just not for a full year yet! They also told me to put Colorado as my state or residence on AMCAS as well! But I'll call them tomorrow! Thanks for the heads up! I really hope this doesn't mess stuff up...

Does anyone know when they are going to have the tuition deposit stuff up? Also, when is second look?

In my acceptance email all they said is that the epay system should be up by March 1st! And assuming the second look is the same as the open house, my email also says that it is on Friday April 23rd!
